Yup, the element of surprise, good choice of weapon. It's not hard to believe she'd have a great chance at this. She doesn't have to fight hand to hand against 5 grown-ass men to prove she's good. You show me ONE example of a woman doing the same. Only one. In fact not even professional female boxers or MMA fighters can take on more than 2 male opponents. Two capable, strong 16 year old boys can easily subdue any female fighter in history of female fighting. No exceptions. Two capable, strong 16 year old boys would get pulverized by any capable, average adult man.

I saw this at the cinema when it first came out. During this scene where Sharon is trying to sweet talk Arnie whilst going for her gun one of the audience members near me stood and yelled, "Kill the bitch! Kill the bitch!" and he did and the whole crowd went nuts. It was a great experience.

I read somewhere that this was supposed to be a typical “girl fight” - hair pulling and the like while Arnold was supposed to wake up and beat up the men. The director, Paul Verhoeven, said “No.” So Sharon Stone and Rachel Ticotin studied martial arts and helped in choreographing this scene. Supposedly there were no stunt doubles used in this scene though they did have to do several re-takes.

As someone who works on film fights scenes, sorry but no. Almost exactly the same portion of actress to stunt double shots here as in a modern film. It’s an insurance thing as much as actors being willing or capable, some are some aren’t. That’s why Tom Cruise is a nightmare for productions, and if he wasn’t his own producer he’d never to be able to do as many of his own stunts. They shut down the last MI for god knows how many months after he broke his ankle, money just burned away...

At my fingertips I have access to a wealth of collected human knowledge unheard of in previous generations. Kudos to Stone in that scene. When Quaid shoots the push-dagger out of her hand, her expression goes instantly from "Psychotic murdering bitch" and changes to "Oh hi honey, it's lovely to see you".

That guy always spoke english with a THICC austrian accent, but his charisma just owns us, we don’t really have an equivalent in 2023. Maybe The Rock is the most similar, but last year showed us his charisma alone can’t lead a movie, unlike Arnold’s.

Never realized before watching this scene, Sharon could have pulled out her gun to kill Rachel Ticotin but instead she takes her on hand-to-hand and once she wins pulls out a shiv to finish her, perfectly fitting her character :) Also was Michael Irons drinking a strawberry milkshake at the start of the video? lol
