This was NOT the way this scene was originally written. Arnold Schwarzenegger was supposed to wake up and trash the men while Sharon and Rachel were supposed to have a “girl fight” - pulling hair, throwing things etc. but the director, Paul Verhoven, had the scene re-written. Outside of Chinese/Japanese cinema this is the first female martial arts fight scene, at least in western cinema. Neither actress used a stunt double and they spent hours training and rehearsing.
