What does your favourite Total War Title say about your Personality?
Honestly, nothing at all... But I thought it would be a good laugh XD
From Shogun 1 to, Rome and Medieval 2, to Rome 2, Attila, Warhammer and the Sagas (imagine liking the Sagas XD).

He said that Napoleon players have moved on to Paradox...while true for some.. Wouldn't that have been the same for Medevil 2 fans going into Crusader Kings. I love NAPOLEON but Victoria 2 or paradox are so limited...Most Napoleon fans switched over to HOLDFAST and Mount and Blade:Napoelonic. For me Paradox games(Victoria 2) don't even compare to the genius of Napoleon. Napoleon is like watching the movie WATERLO 1970 , the MUSIC, the COLORS, the Tactics, the Beauty of a Square formation on a Cave Charge and full VOLLEY. There is nothing like Napoleon, it's like listening to Wagner. I guarantee that after you play napoleon online and play the Campaing of the Coalation and Napoleons campain, you will CRY when NAPOLEON says goodbye to the OLD GUARD. No video game has given me the feels. You control the legendary OLD GUARD, and you see them on film ..and ugh..the feels. kzbin.info/www/bejne/nmbFiGCPjb-phbc

@@robroux5059 Until recently Med2 was my favorite Total War game, but I wouldn't say that applies to me. When you play Paradox games for a while you start realising how unimaginatively shallow they all are. Victoria 2 sits on top with its deep economy and POP systems which I love, but after too many hours I'm starting to feel the limitations of it. CK2 got ruined by DLC bloat and a turn from being a realistic nobility sim to a "lol so randumb xD" meme game, and the active avoidance to implement more complex feudal mechanics. Other Paradox games have been simplified down to become unplayable to me, compare HoI3 to Hoi4 or EU3 to EU4. Haven't played CK3 because I find the UI god-awful.

Apologies for a lack of understanding, but I don't see how you could say the same thing about Warhammer 1/2, Three Kingdoms, and Troy. For the Empire fans, I do not recall exactly where I sw the SEGA quote, but a few months after Warhammer 1 dropped, I remember seeing an interview with one of the devs saying that they where using the Warhammer series as a testbed for Empire 2 development. Their reasoning was that since the Warhammer map is similar to what they want the Empire map to look like, and the different races tests how well they could implement giving cultures and empires their own unique unit trees.

@@khanofsteppe1667 I'm just happy they released a semi-historical game even if it's not fully historical. With that said, I do think the game has a bit of an identity crisis. I feel like if they were going to go full historical they should have left it at that and if they were going to do historical mythology they should have gone full on with some of the monsters. It's like the game can't decide if it's a history game or a mythology game. I absolutely love the combat / Morale system, the open ended ness of the campaign and the mods. Like being able to Wrangle victory from the jaws of death from winning an almost unwinnable battle thanks to your cunning and wit, turning the tide of war into your favour will never be beaten. Its just so satisfying and amazing, its a shame the newer games cant even add a proper morale system.

1. Rome 2/ Attila/ ToB - I love the feel of the games largely because of the immense historical accuracy and find the constant inaccuracies in R1 + M2 to be a bit of a mood killer. Attila is the best Total War hands-down, Rome 2 is not far behind it, and ToB should've been an Attila DLC with all its mechanics intact, but I love it anyway. 2. Empire/ Napoleon - I enjoy the grand scope of ETW and the absolutely stunning atmosphere of NTW. I play ETW non-stop with the "Imperial Destroyer" mod which makes it one of the best Total War games ever imo, and love NTW for both "Darthmod" and "The Great War" mod. 3. Three Kingdoms/ Troy - I'm apparently one of the only 3K players who near-solely plays records mode and super enjoys it. Troy is bronze age I love it too. Although my favourite faction in Troy is Sarpedon because it's the closest to a true Anatolian faction instead of some Greco-Trojan faction, my dislike of the lack of Middle Eastern factions doesn't keep me from enjoying the game, even if it's mostly GREEK! (Eastern factions = best factions in TW games) I guess I'm in the minority because I genuinely think Rome 2, Attila, and Three Kingdoms are the best TW games to date. Empire's too buggy, Napoleon's too small, and Shogun 2 is great but imo feudal Japanese history is super boring.

Empire was my first game, I loved the time period, the way they had such a wide variety of cultures and units and stuff, all the different strategies and tactics you could come up with. The map is also grand, the way research works is much more similar to Civilization which is what I was used to. I also enjoy the system of having smaller villages and towns that you could develop any way you needed to get the most out of each settlement. It’s the only Total War game where I’ve been able to conquer the entire world, which I then allowed to rebel to create a fun new map. The Native American expansion was a fun new challenge as I had to unite the tribes to the best of my abilities and completely change the way I fought the advanced European style armies. I haven’t played Rome very extensively, but I did like the setting and I have fond memories of playing a sort of hotseat campaign with friends and shouting “For the glory of Rome!” Every five minutes. Medieval was always great, it was almost like a roleplaying experience for me, and with so many playable factions there’s a lot of fun to be had. I’ll never forget the epic battles in the base game and the Kingdoms expansion, though I’ll never forgive my friend for always playing as Milan in multiplayer battles. (:P) I’d need to put more time into Britannia to get the full experience, but so far I love the time period, the art style, and the politics. I also can’t say I’ve fully experienced Warhammer Total War either as I’ve pretty much only played the Empire and the Dwarves, but my favorite part of that game is learning the other factions’ strengths and weaknesses and developing strategies for each of them-though I abhor how strong the lords and heroes are, it feels like you can’t counter them without a hero of your own, and in moments where my unlucky garrison gets torn to pieces I remember how the actual Warhammer fantasy expected you to attach a commander to a unit rather than send them out solo.

@@gibiuswrecks5215 Oh yea.. put up some hours on the Americas campaign as the Aztecs/Apache, and huge fan of the Rus vs Golden Horde era, The irish campaign against england is interesting. I think i got all Medevil 2 for like $10 in 2015. Great game, expansive, the OST(amazing). But not a fan of those dam Crusades. But once I picked up NPTW in 2016 for like $10 ..it was magic. Man, all CA has to do is combine EMPIRE MAP,Factions , Economic system and just use Napoleons mechanics and it would be the perfect game. ..Plus add the Americas like the Iriqouis ( Tecumseh) and uff.

@@robroux5059 Crusades are annoying. The real first crusade was a coalition of empires, and they conquered multiple cities and stuff. These crusades feel more like a race between the different nations to take the target city, and the reward iiiiiis...nothing worthwhile. You either have to struggle to hold a city of a different religion that’s really far from your capital, or let it fall. Even if it wins you favor with the Pope, it inevitably goes down just from defending yourself from your enemies and some other country with more churches wins his love. What’s worse is when you get your crusade army together, join the crusade, sail off...and then the next turn half your force somehow “deserts” in the middle of the Mediterranean. Supposedly they think you’re too slow in getting to the Holy Land, but what’s their plan for a faster route? Swimming?

Attila: You can be either a hipster or a masochist but in most cases you’re both. If you haven’t had barbarians sack your city while your kingdom is in constant danger of plunging into civil war, can you really call yourself a total war player?

Despite the terrible launch, Rome II has been by far my favorite title. I think the battle mechanics are smooth, the color palet is nicer than Attila (which I think is on purpose), the multiplayer community was always fun, and there is something about the scale some of the battles got that just stick out in my head. The later political system was also an upgrade, and I began to care more about characters finally. Napoleon with the Darthmod attached is a close second.

Attila offers us something different, Attila offers us something weird, Attila have the best mods. Attila is painful, but it's the most pleasurable TW experience at same time. Well... Napoleon Total War favorite here, and that was absolutely terrifyingly spot on. Are you.... stalking me? I did linger on Napoleon Total War as I used to work on the Napoleonic Total War III modification, mainly beta testing our version of the campaign and making my version of the naval battles. Honestly, that game had great potential, but the Creative Assembly did screw up as I assume they outsourced parts of the game engine, hence why they never released proper modding tools for Empire, Napoleon or Shogun 2. I would absolutely love for an Empire 2, though frankly, I have lost faith in CA, largely due to the flop of Rome 2 (I bought Rome 2 75% off, and I still felt I didn't get my money's worth out of it) and Warhammer became far too popular, leaving us historical fanboys in the dust. So, now I'm stuck playing Paradox games, but I still get that itch to command troops in the field.

Honestly I'd say 3k's fans, being one myself, are more enamoured by the fantastic campaign map gameplay than the duels or specific setting. I like the setting, though I wasn't interested when it was first announced, but I wouldn't say that's why it's my favourite Total War game (having finally been the game to dethrone Medieval 2, which was my first and favourite for a long time). By the way I know this video isn't meant to be taken seriously, I just thought I'd throw this out since lots of people don't seem to get the appeal of 3k.

Shogun 1: Veteran OG player, respect. Medieval 1: Actually underrated game, however outdated at this point and hard to run on modern PCs. You like to do your own thing and don't care about newer stuff. Rome 1: Truly put Total War series on the map, a legendary game. Easy to read and take a dive into, and you will stay for more. You like simpler, but still addicting gameplay, probably dissapointed with Rome 2. Medieval 2: You love the mods and are a purist who still claims that this game is highlight of the series, everything after doesn't come close (save for Shogun 2 obviously). Empire: You like playing with mods and see what they were going for during development. Probably also like the historical period and gunpowder warfare. Napoleon: You like multiplayer battles, enjoy the time period and more refined Empire gameplay. Shogun 2: You are a weeb for Japanese stuff, love samurai and the time period. If you like Fall of the Samurai, you enjoy the arguably best gunpowder gameplay in the series and Last Samurai movie. Rome 2: Might be your first Total War game, you don't care about negative opinions, you stayed around to get the game fixed and still enjoy it, as patience paid off. Attila: You like pain and a challenge in your way to victory. You enjoy a change of pace from typical "conquer everything left to right" to survival horror mode, as the world burns around you. Finally you can make things as they should be (save WRE). Thrones of Britannia: you are a unique breed of player, who goes his own way. Warhammer: you enjoy the setting and buying overpriced DLCs. 3K: you enjoy Chinese culture in general, this includes new options and more fantasy approach with new modes. Troy: Let's be honest, you got it for free from Epic Games, so can't complain. Pharaoh: You enjoy the setting and getting ripped off by CA. Not bad game otherwise, but limited in scope like Troy.
