I just wanna say, About a year after I watched this podcast when it was aired, I noticed a persistent pain in my balls. I ignored it for a few months but then remembered this podcast. I remembered what John said about not waiting and how "fucking dying" is a lot worse than being embarrassed. So I decided to get it checked out. I got a couple ultrasounds and was pretty much instantly diagnosed with testicular cancer. A week after that I had surgery to have it removed. 6 Months later and I'm cancer free. I really do think it was John who kind of snapped me into reality and gave me the courage to get it looked at. John and this podcast might have seriously saved my life.

I remember watching this when it came out. Now I am diagnosed with stage 4 cancer, that is incurable. I'm 26 and supposed to die within a year. I can't believe how my life turned out and I feel like I can relate to so much of what he says.

Shit man I hope you beat it dispite the claim that it's incurable, I have a friend that was also diagnosed with stage 4 cancer at the age of 15 he was only given until 17 maximum to live and he's been cancer free since his 18th birthday (now 20) I hope your story turns out more like my friends. We all have to deal with the cards we've been delt but I have a firm belief that we all have an extra ace hidden up our sleeves.

Douglas Schultz People seem to forget that in 2013 he apologised for it and the person he told to "get cancer and die" to, actively told people to stop throwing that fact in his face, you must have had something very traumatic happen to you that makes you lash out at a dead man, may he rest in peace, also honestly anyone can rip a profile pic off of Google images so chances are you're a basement dweller yourself, but honestly who cares.

John, the first video you made about the whole cancer ordeal made me go to the doctor and they discovered cancer at an early stage. Luckily I went through surgery and chemo and i am symptom free today. It was not the kind of cancer that you had but because of that video it was discovered early. RIP, you will be missed.

DubQWST I went to my doctor because of a lump that was kind of numb. I ignored it for some time and thought it was nothing, but watching his video where he said ‘don’t be stupid get yourself checked’ i did just that. 3 days later they called me from the hospital and said that they suspected that the lump was cancerous. Turned out it was.

Francisco Gomez it's not a literal comment. It is saying chemo is extremely difficult, and can beat down on a cancer patient.
@autumn4514
@autumn4514 7 жыл бұрын
Francisco Gomez It's hyperbole, but the sentiment is true. Like he explains, it's very difficult to eat. You get dehydrated very quickly and easily. You have no energy. Your immune system takes a hit every time, sometimes to the point where it's barely there. It's extremely straining on the patient.

I didn't know what to do with myself, I just lost myself, BUT what I remember is she faught, the Doctors gave her 3 months, she faught for 3 years until it finally took her, it got too much and she past, thankfully it was peacefully, I hope she wasn't in pain, I'm not ashamed to say this video made me cry it reminded me of my mum, she passed on the 25th December 2016, I will always remember that beautiful women & I will miss her every day. Recently ive found myself becoming lazy with my treatments, doing them half assed or even skipping them entirely. "even if its one good day, thirteen bad days, that's still one good day" is a quote that as stuck with me since I heard it almost three years ago. I lost my grandfather to cancer this last year and he fought hard, lasted longer than they expected him to, and that enabled me to spend his last christmas with him. Every day after Christmas was a miracle, they said. I think the only reason I got this was because of my grandfather's similar tough spirit. These words will stay with me forever.

Please get yourself checked like he said its better to be safe. I already had half of my tongue taken out in surgery and I'm pretty far into radiation so I can no longer eat and rarely drink so everything has to go through a feeding tube. Ignore Garbage. He is as his name suggests. TB was extremely important to gaming journalism and always fought to improve the industry for the consumer even though this probably wasn't always the most profitable thing to do for him. He advocated for ethics in games media and I don't think there are many people on this planet who would've continued that in his condition as long as he did. Now at least he doesn't have to live with that unimaginable pain anymore. If there's any justice then he's complaining about heaven's FPS. RIP

My mother died of bone cancer a few hours before this was uploaded. 10 years ago she had breast cancer and beat it no problem, so I didn't really think much of it when she was diagnosed with bone cancer. I was blindly optimistic. She had mostly good days. The bad days pretty much came all at once. Even then, I was still optimistic.. She beat cancer once after all. I didn't really think about what to do once she died because of my blind optimism. My aunt who just happened to be visiting was scrambling to call family, getting paperwork done, figuring out if my mom is to be cremated or not and a bunch of other crap. It honestly hasn't hit me yet. I cried for a while and all, but my dumb ass is currently staying up really late like always watching youtube and playing video games. I even played PUBG with some friends and didn't tell them that my mother died. I don't even know why I'm typing this tbh, I'm not one to comment and I'm too tired for this lol. All this is probably just a jumbled wall of text. Shitty way to cope I guess?

I realize just how powerful having cancer can affect the person who has it and their families. I never would of thought that anyone in my family would ever get any sort of cancer but the most unfortunate thing had to happen this year. My sister got thyroid cancer this month and she has her surgery on the 31st. I remember her waking me up in the morning after she had come back from getting her results at the hospital and she just broke into tears when she mentioned she had cancer. I was lost for words and could do nothing but hug her and try to ease her down. I had just watched H3's podcast of erhan's parents and remember ethan's mom mentioning she had thyroid cancer when she was pregnant with him and his dad saying that thyroid cancer is perhaps the most "best" one you could have and it could be solved with surgery. So now I've been very nervous and worried this month hoping everything goes well. I'll do my best to keep my spirit up for my sister the same way ethan did for his mom!

my mother is a cancer survivor and she just got surgery a week ago and they got rid of it but it didnt really effect us. if you look at life in a negative way when someone has cancer in your family then it will obviously effect. just live your life and do what you did before that person was diagnosed with cancer. my mother was the same way as well. she only took off work for 2-3 days after chemotherapy and then went back to work every time and was still working with cancer. she went out and did every thing she did before she was diagnosed. nothing really changed in our family at all

I am so used to hearing about cancer symptoms on a daily basis, as I’m an oncology nurse. But I must say, it’s inspiring and insightful hearing someone from what id consider my “outside life” talk about cancer this way. made think a lot differently about the symptoms/situations of the patients I see everyday. Your mind becomes “used to” hearing about anything if you hear it all the time, it’s normalized. But listening to him made me really feel for the hundreds of patients I care for every week- I really needed this reminder. Beautiful conversation, felt that I had to share. Papa bless to you all.

dandelions it’s different for the different types of cancer- but often it’s pain in a localized area, new and heavy onset of headaches/fatigue/exhaustion, rapid weight loss or gain, change in vowel habits, discoloration of skin, itchiness or lumps of the breasts. It’s hard to generalize the symptoms because it’s unique person to person, but those are the most common objective ones.

Sometimes it's good to get an outside point of view, especially in the medical field. Burnout is a dangerous thing not just for yourself but for your patients. The good thing is that sometimes all it takes is one person to put everything back into perspective and remind you why you do what you do.

I’m really glad this video and conversation has been put up etc. Since July 2016 I’ve had this very unknown illness called ME and it’s otherwise known as CFS. It’s no where near as bad as cancer but it is still absolutely awful and has changed my life. It does a lot of the things that TB explained with the exhaustion and brain fog and stuff. I haven’t been able to leave the house for over a year and haven’t been able to see my family and friends etc. And haven’t been able to do anything I used to do when I was better like video games or movies or sports etc. it’s so frustrating but hearing people talking about their situations like this, it not only shows you that everything and anything can be worse than it already is, but it also keeps you going. Thank you for this, it definitely helps hearing things like this to keep pushing on.

I was diagnosed with the same thing back in 2015 and was in a similar position to you. I was mostly stuck in the house or in bed for that year. For me it slowly got better through help with a specialist doctor and nowadays it's basically non existent. I know that I was quite lucky and the same situation may not be for everyone but slowly making progress in what I could do over weeks and months was great even if it was little things like being able to walk around the house and get my own food etc. I hope you can get better and be able to go back to doing everything you enjoyed doing before you were diagnosed even if it does take time.

I'm currently on my last year on my master's degree in tumourbiology in Sweden, to become a cancer researcher. I know first hand how much a university/hospital/research company needs money ALL THE TIME for their research. When studying cancers you often perform genome sequencing, and it costs an absolute fortune. Even though technology is so damn good today and is developing, everyone on a research time has to have their income, and such a team is a lot of people with many specialities. My speciality is systembiology, so I would be the one to interpret results from a genome sequencing. Someone else takes samples, cultures, extracts DNA, someone does wet labs and tests on cells. If you can, please donate to cancer research, it might not seem like it, but it does a hell of a lot and we've come so far.

Negan He tends to be very aggressive with the block feature when it comes to political disagreements. Look up the CoxCon incident if you are curious, or the time he stated a certain portion of his audience isn't welcome as they didn't vote for his favorite candidate in the 2016 election. He has also completely disabled commenting on his youtube channel. Like I said he's a great guy, he makes great content and presents very solid, logical reasoning. His lack of desire to engage in debate and develop a close knit community is the only element in his character that I simply can't get past to like him as a person, even if I do like his content.

Wow. This conversation gave me so much. Thanks John for reminding me to capitalize on the fact that I'm alive and healthy. I'm not letting ANY second of my life go to waste by staying miserable and keeping my head down. I'm going to enjoy the fuck out of it. What a guy with an amazing attitude. Even though you are gone you still keep inspiring people with the courageous example you left behind.

it was hard for me to click on this video. my father suddenly died end of october. we got the diagnosis of metastasized lunge cancer to bone cancer just two weeks before. fortunately he didn't really had much pain, didn't have to suffer much, at the end his heart stopped. this guy is a miracle to me, i hope he can combat this horrible sickness.

To those afraid of getting check because of being embarrassed. My doctor said some choice words that'll take that away instantly. "There is nothing embarrassing in the world of medicine and science. We're all naked to our natural flaws and limitations" Had to come find this video to post it, wanted others to share in the relief I got from him.

I am nearly 27 in a few months and i have been listening to this man since i was around 15, TotalBiscuit is my favorite person on the internet and always will be, and i know he has not been on KZbin that long but i listened to insane amounts of him growing up, on his podcasts, i think i have listened to every podcast he was in and multiple times, he is a big inspiration for me as far as holding yourself to a higher standard, if you want to see a great video he made back during his early days watch "addicted to epics" it is amazing.

Mr. Sandman that's not true at all. There's so many variables in stage 4 cancer, such as origin of the cancer, extent of the spread, location of the spread, accuracy of diagnosis, age of the patient, that it's impossible to make a blanket statement like "stage 4 is almost certain death". Plenty of people get diagnosed with stage 4 cancer and go on to live full lives

It's probably death for MOST people. It's just that TB has had a lot of luck both mentally and physically. Like he himself said he found a treatment that works for him, and he mentally stays in the fight through the help of his wife, his pets. And I don't think the average American especially without Obamacare could even afford the treatments. A lot of people who have stage-4 might not be so fortunate in that regard.

My grandfather passed away on New Year's Eve last year, after a 6 1/2 year long fight against what began as colon cancer. He outlived the predictions by over 3 years, and his love for his work is what kept him going for so long. 5 days after open-chest surgery he was already back in the office. Even during his last month, when he had gone completely delirious, and was barely eating, he was able to coherently talk about work and was still correcting coding errors and fixing chenical dosage calculations (he was the founder of a water and wastewater treatment company that also dealt with the electronic aspects of monitoring and maintenance). Seeing TB continue to fight and speak about his experience against cancer is really uplifting, it reminds me of just how full of life my grandfather was, even when he was diagnosed as terminal. I offer my best wishes to TB and anyone else living with cancer, and hope that they can survive it, or at least manage to prolong and enjoy their lives as much as possible.

Such a legend man. Taught me to not be scammed by greedy games publishers. I never preorder, never buy season passes and it's all thanks to this man teaching me the ways of being a consumer in our time. Not only did he help so many people save their money from greedy companies, he also made the days of millions of people better almost every day with his content. He also always stood up for what he believed was right and stood by his principles always even when he could become filthy rich by selling out. He went too soon.

As someone who as gone through cancer in the last two years, I can say that everything that TB says in this podcast is exactly spot on. What chemo does to you, how you always have to eat, not being able to do anything even watching netflix, and the terrifying fear of death. It is EXACTLY how he explains it. If you feel that something has been going on that is unusual with your body you have to consult immediatly. Don't wait, because this is what I did and it cost me my leg, I had to be amputated. And most importantly, you have to be thankful for what you have because no one knows who much time anyone has left. Keep fighting, we are all stronger than we think.
