Definitely hope they add more building options in future updates, stuff that was in the old game like rock walls and some new stuff would be cool. I am already getting bored with building completely with logs. You can only build so many log cabins before it gets old.

Wonder what happens if you build ziplines that goes up into the sky on blueprints, but then delete the blueprint so the zipline floats in the air? Launch logs over massive distances?

Neat! One of the main draws in games like this for me is the building aspect. Seeing this massive "creative mode" style build, even as limited as you were by mechanics, sparks a lot of excitement and inspiration for me! Love the way this build turned out over the waterfall. Only problem with being a build-focused player here though is that the cannibals and mutants LOOOOVE to destroy your hard work... I'd love to see more added to this build, like the little village and pathway and things, but the thought of you putting all this work in and constantly having to rebuild stuff as the enemies destroy parts hurts my soul.

If you play in peaceful mode, or non structure damage you'll not have to worry about cannibals or mutants :)

I noticed yesterday that you can setup ziplines to go through walls. If you build a zipline and then place walls around it, when you ride the zipline, you will noclip through the walls to get to the end of the zipline... It's very useful when getting inside a base.

I've been enjoying your SOTF videos a lot. In fact, after seeing what you are able to do in the game it helped me make up my mind on purchasing it. A funny observation is how tonally different your videos are (thanks to the lo-fi tunes, no doubt) to the actual experience of playing the game. There is so much paranoia and cold sweats involved in building in the actual game that it is refreshing to see your chill vibes.

So I totally just rebuilt your base in my save with a few changes such as using alternating stairs and ramps for the roof and I can't do the single peak walkways atm since Endnight broke them , which is sad as it was my favorite part of the base. I also made mine 10 floors deep beacuse I wanted a unnecessarily large base. Thanks for the awesome vid thumbs up!

6:40 you can just keep the middle logs and remove the side logs to orient your planks the other way while saving double the amount of logs

I'm sure you already know about this glitch, but my friends were doing one where you place a half log down vertically, then another half log on top of it. Then if you try and place a full log next to it, it will dupe. You can just keep putting down logs next to it. We got about 63 logs in 2 minutes.

Building a shelf while holding 2 logs will produce 2 3/4 logs and keep your 2 logs if you have a need for 3/4s.

Hmm you didnt say how much wood we needed lol. I have filled the whole coast with logs now just to be sure there is enough for the cool build you did show. It looks verry awsome. My plan was to make no bridge to the build while its on the water but instead use a zip line from the build to down of the waterfall to the small camp on a tree platform so you can easy go from and to the base without having problems with the enemy and so the enemy wont be able to reach you at the base or run out to you. I have a other huge base i did build with some others but the enemy is keep spawning inside the base beside of we have a huge wall around the base and huge tower in the middle with zip line to transfer logs and to enter and exit the camp. So this build of yours might be a huge help :) i will tell more when im done.

I do confirm that even with exploit or console command, it is time consuming to build 2 logs at the time. Done some floating home myself and it took more than 10h to do a 6*7 structure & 2 floors high.

There is a THunderstore mod that gives access to the console and you can simply enable the Loghack from The Forest where your character keeps a log in his hands to infinitely build with

I hope if they patch the log glitch they add a better way to collect logs; it honestly makes the game feel a lot better and less tedious not to mention I hate chopping trees near my base because I feel they look nice; maybe trees can give more logs or regrow faster

this is where I built my base when I bought the game, there is a small camp at the bottom of the waterfall the has loot and will respawn every time you load your game back up.

we actually found another duplication glitch last night on multiplayer, host side couldnt do it but the person joining could, if you have a structure being propped up ie a bridge and you try place a log vertically next to it, if it doesnt allow placement and puts it back in your hands the person joining will actually spit out a new log, so you can literally just spam place log

I kinda like how he has stuck to the survivalist vibe though. Like you can't mine for rocks and ore and start smelting metal and stuff cause the premise is your just there for the mission, and tryna survive. So the game doesn't even intend for you to be building massive forts or anything. Just quick little huts to get by. But the ability to build giant wooden castles is great!

Beautiful building but The newest forest needs the ability to use stone in construction to bring more life and aesthetics. Then, when I start playing a new Forest, I don't want to build lighthouses and windmills out of just wood. Using sticks and bone fences would also be useful. For example, when I build a bridge, I want to use sticks as a railing.

Really wish the Forest would copy the way the building works in Rust. It's soooo fun to build bases in Rust! Of course we don't exactly need metal bases in the Forest, and that's fine. But even with how the hammer tool works to go through everything you can build so long as you have the amount of wood needed on you. Prefer the way the building is in Rust and Valheim over the Forest so far.

one option is a mod to use the command menu. Which has "loghack" as an option. Infinite logs for people who just want to focus on the building aspect of the game

I am not sure if you know this yet, there is a way to make spiral staircase. I accidently did it somehow. when you put half log supports down under a floor, it somehow made into a spiral staircase. I wish i knew how to do it. I thought I would let you know so maybe you figure it out, and make a video

For those that doesn't know, there's a glitch that let's you duplicate logs. I'll post it down below in this comment, so in case you dont want to know, stop reading here. (working as of 03-03-2023) So you basically just grab a log, and put it on the ground. Don't "G" drop it, but place it as if you would build a floor. Don't snap it to another log either, just by itself, on the ground. Then you simply take a stick in your hands, click on the log so your character places the stick under the log, having it rest in a diagonal postion against the stick. And then you just simply walk into it, making it fall over and the log will pop and there will now be 2 logs. Not a creative mode by any means, but will save you an insane amount of time if you plan on building something bigger.

That looks like it took a long time to do. Even with Bugs or Glitches that Sons Of The Forest still has. Hopefully the Developers won’t patch this type of Glitches. Maybe in the near future they will allow you to build a Raft or something.

I think it would be cool if we could make banners or tapestries of sorts out of animal hide and berries or I believe there was a bunker that had red paint as well. And you could use bones or sticks and rope to hang them up. And for those who are more into the darker side of the game they could make them out of creepy armor lol. Imagine that just hanging down as banners in your house. Just tentacles and slimy skin. Or you could take a page out of the cannibal's book and do what they do with their skin pouches lol but use the cannibals instead. There are many options that they could go with since it is still early access lol. You could even do bone chimes which would just take rope and bones or wire and bones. You could do fur animal rugs with animal hide. There are so many cool things they could do with this game.

I have a big Kelvin problem. He falls thru my floathouse into the water or ice, and wanders in a circle, trying to put the log in the holder... 10 feet above him, loldoh. I have to save and reload to get him topside, and it doesn't always work. Doh.

Out of curiosity, why not just move the cabin blueprint and place it on your foundation so you can have immediate and closer access to the log spawning? Just move it as you go?
