thank you so.. so much. To explain, I was stationed in Okinawa a few years back and lived in a room with two other Marines at the time. we did a lot together. We secretly watched The Notebook, we all got choked up at the end, blah blah. We also ALWAYS jammed out to this song. it was like a meme for us, even after we got out of the Corps and went our separate ways. Last year, in October of 2016 one of those former roommates shot himself in the head. My fondest memories are of when we would listen to this song and just act like fools. So thank you for putting this up here. Maybe one day I can learn it for myself.. and for him.

Try to save up a bit for one of those cheap used Casio/Yamaha electric pianos, or search places like Kijiji or Craigslist for free pianos and/or organs, there's a ton. You could also buy a MIDI controller, connect it to your computer, and download some free piano VSTi's. Hope these can help!

Having searched all of the internets, I can confidently say this is the BEST arrangement of Africa that's out there. I love that it has all the extra accompaniment parts included. Thanks so much for putting this together! I do have just a couple of requests though... Would it be possible to do a version that also has the lyrics? And, even better, also includes the guitar chords? That would be amazing, and I would buy a hundred copies, even though I only need one! 😉 Also, had you considered arranging this in cut time rather than 4/4? I've seen another version that does this, and it makes the music much more legible. (I still prefer your arrangement overall though!) I won't link the other score here without your permission, so if you'd like me to provide it as a reference let me know. But hey, if turning it into cut time is too hard, I'll settle for just the lyrics and guitar chords! 😄

If you haven't learned it already, (I don't know your skill level it took me a few hours after upload to learn) I can give you some tips. The sheet music is great alongside the video and can help remembering different parts. The left hand is probably the most difficult part but it can be simplified by not jumping octaves. Just play the notes that are closest to you. The right hand is fairly easy but it can become difficult and you will likely mess up if you don't keep consistent fingerings. Always use the same fingers playing over and over again. Hope this helped a little.
