I think the secret to dodging this without much injury is to make sure the patterns aren't spawned on top of you, by always taking a side. Even if your character has a narrow bullet range, Koishi will always try to stay above you, so switching sides is a good idea if you don't want to dodge the bullets from the narrowest and riskiest gaps.
