Touhou 6: Embodiment of Scarlet Devil - Extra (New Commentary Version)

Fun fun extra stage...By itself the stage is actually fairly simple, that is after you know what's coming at you. Many of the attacks are aimed directly at you with few shots fired randomly. However what shots that are fired randomly are tough to dodge so you need equal parts skill and preparation to just make it through the stage.
Patchouli is a live killer through and through. She has three attacks all harder than the last. Silent Selene is a mess of bullets where it's way too easy to die on accident running into a bullet while dodging others, Royal Flare will kill you if you don't come in with a plan...and then it'll probably still kill you, and Philosophers Stone...no...just...no...
Now Flandre...Flandre is something else. With her sister's attacks as direct as they are Flandre is the complete opposite forcing you to adopt very awkward and bizarre strategies to beat her spell cards. Honestly what few attacks you can beat by traditionally staying at the bottom and dodging what comes your way you still have to contend with wonky movement or still awkward bullet patterns. All in all you cannot go into fight Flandre with a traditional thought process, rather you have to really think outside the box.

Still no visible hitbox though, and in my attempts to beat the game that way haven't even brought me further than stage 4 and I can't even get back there again. x_x

Maybe it's just me, but Flandre isn't all that she's cracked up to be. I've barely done any practice against her, and I've already made it all the way to her survival spell (and I almost beat it, too). She's still fun, though.

Is it bad I have an easier time with Philosopher's Stone than Royal Flare? The latter is one of few spells I just cannot comprehend.

Eh, makes sense, they take two different skill sets to beat (and back before I learned the trick to Royal Flare it was easily the toughest spell I saw there). Royal Flare is static, so you can memorize the pattern and figure out where to be and what to focus on rather than the whole screen at once. Philosopher's Stone on the other hand is completely random, so to beat it you just have to get good... something I wasn't at yet.

For Flandre's Forbidden Barrage "Counter Clock" I CAN confirm that u can dodge the third wave (when the clock from the left and right are on the same hight) by being in the middle. I just beat Flandre 3 days ago and I was able to pull it off. Also I have to say a thanks to you cause i used your old video to see HOW to dodge some attacks (that I had not reached before AKA: Forbidden Barrage "Catadioptric" ;Forbidden Barrage "Counter Clock" ;Secret Barrage "And Then Will There Be None?" ;Q.E.D. Finally reached the end. Was quite the fun ride. The story is simple, no convolutions and it's all gameplay focused. Wish there was a bit more lore however, like Remilia's intentions. Nice to see some more after battle dialogues and they even had a little conversation(though it did pretty much nothing for the plot). And thanks for the commentary, they're based on experience and thus actually help pretty well.

Oh boy, Flandre the vampire lil' girl, she still hard till this day, i haven't beat her purely (when i say that, i have beaten her but with a terrible FPS rate) also I still wish ZUN treated her better (making her appear a lot more) I do love her design but as a character , she is a bit of an....."empty vessel" for me (and no, i don't consider any fan works "canon" despite ZUN says "fanon is canon")

Easy. Flan loves her sister very much and respects her and breaking her mansion would be quite rude, so she doesn't do so. Flan isn't some berserker who wants to destroy everything. She's more akin to a child if anything Her dialogue implies as much.

Oh no, thankfully not. Rather, your hitbox s a small circle around the center of the character. At this point in the series you still can't see it and just had to learn where it was, however in all games after this your hitbox became visible when slowing down.
