Thanks for the video, loving the stippling, I was wondering how I'd get the right texture for what I have to do. Have you tried the Fibarex - claims to also set rock hard but able to sand and use as a light skim - sounds to good to be true that it can do all three!

Thank you for making this video. How much water are you supposed to use with the powder? I can’t understand the picture instructions (is it for every 2kg of powder add 0.9 litres of water)? Thank you
@danielnugentpainteranddeco5573 жыл бұрын
I always put the powder in first and use like an ice cream size tub then keep adding a touch of water until it's a nice consistency and not to sloppy. Cheers Dan

Toupret do a cement based filler that can be rubbed down but you can get smooth with a wet brush & it has a finish the same as the render

with all the cracks and the movement is best to use the the expanding foam to get a secure fixe.

Daniel, did you use Murex on the other cracks on the wall? Does it work well on cracks, say, 6mm wide and deep? They are currently filled with caulk but it's not holding. Thanks.
@danielnugent21684 жыл бұрын
Hi mate. This will hold but smooth it off before it sets as its rock hard and almost impossible to rub down. Another good product for cracks that come back or if you need a flexible filler is Toupret Fibacryl. Again smooth off as it dries like a rubber and can't be rubbed down. I usually put this in first and fill over it with normal filler if cracks reappear. Cheers Dan

Is this ok to use on narrower cracks than the ones shown in your video?
@danielnugentpainteranddeco5573 жыл бұрын
Hi. Yes but always make sure to smooth it off or texture it as once dries it's like rock. Impossible to rub down

@@danielnugentpainteranddeco557 Thanks Daniel. Once I've finished the repairs I will be repainting the outside of the house with Sandtex pure brilliant white. Would you recommend the ultra smooth or the fine textured finish? I know the coverage of the ultra smooth is 12-16 sqm whereas the fine textured is just 6 sqm. The existing paint on the house is so worn out that I can't tell what it's meant to be! I'd be grateful for some advice.
@danielnugentpainteranddeco5573 жыл бұрын
@@billybob7522 smooth is what I usually use. Fine texture is for uneven surfaces etc or if you need a bit of texture back. Most of the time I use smooth.

@@danielnugentpainteranddeco557 Hi Daniel, as you say this filler goes rock hard when it dries. So if the same cracks open back up say after 5 years or so how easy is it to scrape out of the cracks so that you can refill with fresh filler? If it's too hard to remove would it not be better to use standard exterior filler like Polyfilla for example?
@danielnugentpainteranddeco5573 жыл бұрын
@@billybob7522 it should be fine as any cracks open you can rake out or chop out and re apply

Is that not lime rendered.
@danielnugent21683 жыл бұрын
No this house was done in sand and cement render. It was renovated a few years ago. It should of been done in lime as its a timber framed house but whoever painted it originally did it in sandtex so that's what the customer wanted. I've done natural lime before and used Earthborn Silicate paint which let's the walls breath.
@jackwardley3626 Жыл бұрын
this murex gear does crack on brick rendered house let alone timber framed may as well go back to sand and cement for repairs all the over priced exterior fillers all crack bag of sand and cement 15 quid and probs last a couple years compared to £100's in a year on exterior filler that isn't as good
@danielnugentpainteranddeco557 Жыл бұрын
That's a great idea. What about a ready mixed mortar
@jackwardley3626 Жыл бұрын
@@danielnugentpainteranddeco557 yeah i guess that would be ok but traditional sand and cement would still work out a lot cheaper i normally mix 3:1 or 2:1 with sharp sand not builders sand sharp sand last longer store it in 5 litre containers
