No worries about the camera quality, P… Yes, keep the lace curtains! Fabric is gorgeous and if curtains don’t seem like a fit for you, what about sewing them into pillows? Just an idea! You are SO creative! You do seem like you are being respectful of your new home and trying to introduce yourself to the space. The wood is gorgeous and I feel like you’re trying to work with the energy of your new special place! That’s a wonderful quality! Have you settled on a space for Mr Darcy? My initial thought as you brought us into this new home was, "Oh,She is surrounded by love!" The treehouse is part of the forest...all of those trees connected through their roots, are embracing your home. It is absolutely lovely. And you have two men who are lovingly building your house. And you are surrounded by the love of family! As you bring in your treasures and cook and create in the space, it will become home. AND the curtains...yes...change them out. I think brighter lace curtains like you had in your other home will be better! There are always ups and downs in a big change but, gradually, things will settle out and you will have created another peaceful and magical home. Lastly, having a birds eye view of what is going on in the trees is going to be an entire new adventure!

I feel that your restlessness has less to do with the house than with the fact that you will now be sharing your life forever, perhaps have given up a tiny bit of yourself. Compared to the serenity of the fairy tale cottage you are now flooded with so many sensory experiences and responsibility to others, it will take time to adjust. God bless and take it slowly ❤

Ideas: Replace plaid curtains, maybe keep the lace curtains. They're pretty. Instead of carpet in bedroom, may be a large area rug, as long as you have a wooden floor. If you are able to get a secondhand farmhouse sink, I think it would be a fitting home for that. Maybe a wind chime or triangle. A nice, comfy stuffed chair to read in. If possible, a small stove pipe fireplace.

I love the new Cottage! “The Treehouse” is a great name! To answer your question, I would change the plaid curtains for something more light and airy. You can always use the fabric for something else later. I would also extend the curtain rods a bit so that when you pull the curtains back, the entire window is exposed giving the maximum amount of light, with the beautiful curtains you choose framing the view. If you could pull up a corner of that carpet in the back room and see what is underneath, that would be helpful. If it is the same beautiful wood flooring, I would pull the carpet up now and give the floor a good clean while you do not have much furniture to get in the way. You could get a rug now or later for the space. If the carpet has to stay for now, I would recommend borrowing or renting a steam cleaner and giving it a good refresh, again, while there is no furniture to get in the way and where it can sit and dry properly afterward. JMO I know you will be putting your fairy touches everywhere and the beautiful wood walls will be a delightful canvas for your creativity! Thank you for sharing with us in this time of transition. I heard a new saying a few years ago that has helped me greatly, “Little is the new big, and slow is the new fast.” 🌳

I've renovated several old homes - advice: Do the floors first. Pull out that carpet now, even if you're living on a subfloor. The carpet crud gets everywhere and it's nasty to have floating around on your stuff. Buy or thrift an old rug for the interim if you can't afford or have time to put in matching wood floors.

Oh my, this place is absolutely stunning! Small, quaint, and stunning. Oh how spending a week there would be a delight. For curtains, flat sheets work wonders and come in so many patterns. I love taking sheets from thrift stores (and antique stores) to turn into curtains. It seems weird, but they make the most beautiful curtains. I can see a lot of earthy tones in there. Greens, blues, pinks, purples and golds in particular. The little shelf above the stove would make a beautiful place to display flowers, and even a few copper pans. Thank you for sharing this moving process with us and your new home. I hope this transition goes smoothly for you and that you find peace and comfort in your new abode.

The location and light of this space is magical. I can see how your partner and you will bring your creative energy to this space beautifully. From an interior design perspective, I think it’s worth thinking maybe of either sanding the orange stain off the cedar walls (you can hire powerful sanders to help with this) and then just oil it in linseed. Or to in fact paint the timber walls an off white. At the moment it’s very 80s timber heavy, quite orange. I think you could make the space feel even lighter and more a celebration of the treetop views, the hardwood flooring and your beautiful antiques and art, if the walls aren’t also orange timber. By creating a bit of contrast in colour on the walls, the space would feel more open and like it breaths more, if this makes sense (perhaps look at Studio McGee for inspiration; they combine natural materials and palettes v well in such a balanced way that nothing feels overbearing). Wishing you joy in making this your shared home!

On the one hand, the wood does make the cottage appear dark, but on the other hand being creative with small areas of light colors to break it up and give it visual interest would also be nice and make it hers. As an artist, I can only guess what her imagination can come up with. Perhaps one section of wall with pressed flowers on a cream colored parchment background. Maybe simple sheer material in a way that gives a break from the repeated lines of the wood. Who knows. That's why I am so excited to see what Paola comes up with. She mentioned that she loved the wood walls, so maybe just some white lace curtains or other tricks that will lighten it up. It's definitely a blank slate for her to walk around and get to know what speaks to her.
@gailsprangers93882 жыл бұрын
Oh, I meant to mention that the soft creams and pale green in your last home was calming so maybe bring a little of those colors in your art room so it feels a little familiar. It might be a nice transition without copying everything.

I can relate to how discombobulating change can be, no matter how happy the reasons for it. It can be draining, disorienting, and when it's a house move doubly so because you don't have your usual safe space in which to recharge. So be kind to yourself while you have fun visualising all the wonderful things you will do in the new place! It will come together so beautifully in the end. This is a real thing tho! I have a bottom floor apartment in the city that I call my “cottage”. I think it has a cottage vibe because there’s a coffee shop down the hall so it always smells like coffee when I step outside. It has a porch that gets nice sunshine. It has some windows that don’t have good views but let in a nice amount of sunshine. It has a pretty blue and brown kitchen with marble counters. And all this just makes me feel like it’s a little cottage nestled in the city. Kinda like howl’s castle.

My first impression is how nice the windows are big , how wonderful to have a second floor for future hobby work and a kitchenette too, and all the cute points like an outside landing and stairs. I couldn't help but imagine you sketching and painting your woodland creatures over the doorways, around the cabinets or open closet. I even imagined you paying homage to the horses who once lived there, by your rendering on a downstairs wall someday, perhaps just peeking over a piece of wood trim that resembled a stable enclosure. I dreamed up a mouse peeking out from a corner with an open door that when closed completed the drawing of his rear side and a little straw bed-nest, haha. All I can think of is your talent for floral and fauna art has no bounds, and how the contrast of your feminine touches with the rustic history of this barn, plus Luke and his Dad's pre-wedding labor of love, will create such a unique ''feel'' to all who enter. That ''feel'' will be one of love, of heart-warming memories and ''home sweet home''. Sending you lots of love,💕 Barb

The positive energy in the home will come sooner than you think. It took me about a year but my current house feels even more peaceful than I expected. Also us artists aren't fans of change. She’s onto something saying different homes have a certain feeling (energy) to them. I think it has to do with what activity has happened inside the home. Some feel calm and peaceful.Others stuffy or sterile. Only one, I walked into a house in process of being packed up and it felt so sad and just negative, it felt smothering and almost made me cry. I was happy to get out of there (and never went back). Paola’s opinion of the feel of different homes is not silly at all. I have a feeling this new home of hers she will turn into magic . Looking forward to seeing the progress and decor.

Definitely keep your lace panels. I love old lace at the windows. Very dreamy and magical. I’ve actually cut lace and attached it directly to my kitchen window. All I do is press it on with liquid starch, I let it dry and when needed to clean, it simply peels right off. I gently wash it by hand, let it dry and put back up with more liquid starch. OR stretch a piece of your lace panel over a simple frame and move it as desired. Your lace panel is part of who you are… So simply consider trying it. ENJOY the process Paola. Remember all things of comfort and beauty take time to create. What a beautiful new Adventure your just beginning. Take the time you need to make it your home and haven. Your tree house home is lovely! Congratulations! You will no doubt imbue and cultivate your own peaceful energy there once you settle in. To help with this transition you may want to ‘cleanse’ the energy that lingers from the the previous occupants and sage the rooms. It neutralizes any negative energy left behind from others to make way for your own renewed energy to enter the spaces you will now occupy; and your energy is indeed peaceful and blissful. I'm so glad we're invited along for the journey of making your new treehouse a home, because it looks lovely and so full of potential. People who have always lived with a modern bathroom can't imagine how luxurious it feels after a period of going without!

in my 50+ years of adulthood, I've lived in many homes and yes, each one has its own feeling/vibes. I love your new home, look forward to seeing it developed by you.

Thank you for sharing with us. I've always believed our physical homes embrace what we bring into them, both the physical belongings and our emotional and spiritual gifts. Taking time to move in, to decorate, allows you to fit yourself to the home and be informed by its best aspects. I do love the lace curtains, and think they would add a certain softness and femininity to complement the more wood paneling - which I love, and have always loved exactly for that reason, because to me the wood walls and floors are the masculine aspect that is then complemented and balanced by the more feminine aspects of a home like floral or lace curtains, pillows and bedding, flowers, etc. No apologies needed for your video quality - it was just fine.

Ah, this was just lovely. You are such a gentle soul. You can make even something like this still feel soothing. Please don't feel you need to rush back to your usual content, at least not for our sakes. I'm invested in your story and so appreciate you bringing us along on this transition. Honestly, it's helping me, too, because I also miss your valley and little cottage, all while looking forward to the ways you will transform your new house into a home that is uniquely you. Seeing the steps of this move is great. I love the lace curtains. They are so you, I thought they were an addition, not existing. The desk is amazing. I love your ideas for upcoming content and would enjoy hearing about your decorating process. Thank you for being open about how this change is affecting you. It seems natural that for a person so bound to place that you would feel a little uprooted now. But I can also see your openness and gratitude and have no doubt that your roots will grow well and deep in this home, too. Blessings, Paola.

The curtains are lovely. I wouldn't replace them. They're unique; not your typical sheers. And they offer a beautiful textural contrast to the plaid curtains. There's a sense of warmth and comfort. Gorgeous space.

How enchanting your new home is, surrounded by beautiful trees, and the trees will bless you with their wisdom and strength. Lots of animals and birds to inspire you too. I love the view from the top, your "tree house". I do think you are wise to go slowly and move in gradually, putting your own touches and artwork into your new home. Whenever I've moved, I find it does take at least 6 months maybe even a year before it feels like "home" , but I'm sure you and Luke will make such a lovely cosy and loving home there together. Sending you both many blessings and abundant happiness for your future together. Oh, it's such exciting times and new adventures! Blessings to you both and your families too. Love from Wendy, in the UK. 💕xx

Your home often takes the "feel" you create. My career is helping others clearing clutter & creating their space that's very individual so i see many different versions. You previous home was a beautiful reflection of your kind & nature loving spirit. I am sure this new home will be too. I am enjoying watching you go thru the process.

Congratulations! Because of you I replaced my tupperware with antique glass animal jars. I've switched my knobs to leaf shaped knobs and I finally bought an antique typewriter that will blend with my cottage theme camper. I have wreaths on my walls and butterfly wall hangings for my essential oils. My camper is to me what your cottage was to you. Thank you for the inspiration. P.s. I don't care for the plaid curtains but you are making a home for your blooming family, you need to ask what your s.o. thinks, not what we think.

Renovation of a barn into a home by your fiancé (and his father) is such a beautiful overt display of love via an "act of service".

This is a lovely, serene setting for your new home. There's such peace here, and the view of the tall trees in your forest, while different from the previous vistas, has a grandeur all its own. Thank you for sharing your space with us. I hope you will let us be a part of your journey as you settle in and create your own unique spot in the wood. There will be plenty of new fairies to meet here, I'm sure.

When I was growing up,we moved a lot because of my father's job. Moving in to a new place is always a little scary, but it opens up endless possibilities for decorating and opportunity to create new memories. I hope you are taking good care of yourself and Luke too. Stay safe and healthy 💕

I think this new home has nature in common with your last home. Being surrounded by trees is beautiful! I’m sure over the next weeks and months you will put your own creative stamp on the home and it will look homely and calm. The home has lots of potential and I love all the wood. It’s an exciting chapter for you and you are right to take it slowly a day at a time.

Whenever i'm not having a good day i know I will find solace in your channel Paola. Just the sound of your voice is comforting. I sold my apartment in town 6 months ago, wanting to move out of a city apartment. We still have not found the right home in a rural setting which is stressful because of rising prices and the need to move out now within 3 months max. I loved this video and have read many of the comments, which i find comforting also and some good ideas. You and Luke are truly blessed and loved so much by your subscribers. I love your new home - how could anyone not.? This looks like paradise ❤🙌 blessings from Jerusalem

It was lovely to quickly see a video after you moved out of your cottage. You are super lucky to have a house like this and close to family. I feel like the land fairies are surrounding your home. I can almost see them flitting around your house, and I feel like they are looking forward to your future garden. It will be the perfect house, it is cozy and extraordinary, and you will have lots of fun decorating and making it your own. I live in a log home, and we have been here for 16 years; we mainly built everything on our 9 acres by ourselves except for the house. It took that 16 years to finally feel complete, and it was loads of fun getting there. One thing that I learned during these 16 years of building our farm is that enjoying the process is the key. It actually is the key to a happy life. Good luck with your new home, it's perfect.

You are so right, Paola, about the energy in our environment. All things have an energy about them, a subject few know, one that I didn't know about until during my recovery in my quest to understand how I got so sick with cancer. I admire you so much for realizing this very necessary topic. I encourage you to continue sharing, lacing within your videos, how important the environment we create for ourselves through our energy can make or break us. You are blessed to take your time moving in, enjoying this journey, keeping all things positive. Your new environment will reward you with beautiful memories. God bless you, Luke, and all those supporting you through this transition.

I absolutely relate to houses having a feeling or aura to them. When I first walked into our current home - after touring dozens - it just felt "happy". I don't know how else to describe it. I decided to buy it in the entryway and it has been a happy place for our family that I still love coming home to. Best wishes as you continue creating your new home. 🤗

It is hard but so much fun to make a new home. This is a lovely rustic looking but cozy home. What fun for you! You are the designer and you can make it slowly into the perfect space. All houses have feelings. I lived in a 1745 antique cape that felt like it breathed and was so happy for us to live there. We can create the atmosphere we desire and from scratch!

What a lovely little home. For the 45 years we have been married we decorate the same and enjoy it tremendously. Every time in life is a new chapter. Now our children are grown and on their own and we grow lavender and make soap and products and sell at our Farm Market. Every time in life is a gift.

Aww also me and many other people here would be very interested in learning how you decorate on a smaller budget and your future garden plans 🥰. Also you don't sound silly at all when you say that different spaces have different atmospheres! I honestly think this too and it may also be related to the different energies in the space. But I'm definitely hoping that you and everyone else is doing well especially in this cathartic time xx ❤️

I absolutely love the warmth of all the natural wood; it makes me feel like the home is giving you a warm hug. The views are beautiful. If privacy is not an issue, I would leave the windows uncovered; if privacy is an issue, I would use sheer white coverings. With all the wood tones, you might feel a need to have more lighting (lamps) in this house for cloudy days.

That is such a lovely property. I love the woods surrounding it. But the interior of the tiny apartment is very pretty. I am a fan of that knotty pine paneling. I grew up with some in our home when I was a teenager. And it really gives warmth to a room. Many people paint it. You said that it felt different from your previous home. You're an artist from what I've seen of your videos. I've only found you recently. So you now have a blank slate, a clean canvas to create something beautiful in your personal life as well as your home. Savor it. It will go very quickly. I am a widow who lives alone. I've had a wonderful life but I would do it again if given a chance. Enjoy your time. You create some very beautiful things. Be well.
