My name is Paola Merrill, and I am an artist and small business owner living in rural Washington State. Life in a new home has been an exciting transition, daunting at times but rewarding nonetheless. I now live in a woodland home in a pine forest, which I have not yet named (woodland cottage, perhaps? I definitely feel the need to call anywhere I go a cottage now lol) I have been out vintage shopping looking for some deals on unique and handcrafted items, hard to come by for sure! However, with enough patience I have found several pieces that I have been able to fix or up cycle. In this video I wanted to share some of my process of decorating, and how I try to imbue a bit of whimsy and wonder in my space.

Hope you’ve had a lovely week! Spring is here! To answer another question that I couldn’t due to audio issues: I have not yet moved Mr Darcy and Aegir over here to the new house. There’s still a lot of work being done on the place and until things are more peaceful (and less noisy) they will be at my parents home until we can make a more permanent move (Mr. Darcy does not like loud noises, and I cannot blame him. I am between homes so we are still together most of the time). Hopefully everything should be done in a couple more weeks! It is very exciting. Sending hugs and much love today.

I’m a new follower and I’m loving it. I’m a grandma from Wyoming .I’m 81 years young and love all things you love. Many years ago I lived in the country with my husband and three children. I made my own bread, butter and had a big garden. What a wonderful experience that was. I now live in a small town but have a green spaced behind my home. The deer, pheasants an squirrels visit my backyard often. There are also so many bird at my kitchen window feeder. Even at my age, I can still enjoy God’s beautiful nature. Blessing to you. Dear Terri, Paola is a breath of fresh air every time I watch her creations. I discovered P last year during a difficult time when I landed in hospital. I too work part-time jobs & educate my children at home... slowing life down can be very difficult. Especially life in a city (we're in southern Ontario, Canada). Try starting with 10-15 minutes each day. I close my eyes, take deep breaths, think of colours that calm me & search for a few things in my home that bring peace & joy. Try creating small vignettes in a central location (or private nook, prayer corner) using favourite books, plants, cards, pictures. Happy Spring & peace to your home & family.

OH!!! I remember those when I was a kid! Those wonderful hand cranked ice cream makers!!! As children we used to fuss over who was going to crank it first. The adults were happy we made it into a game so they didn't have to crank it. We absolutely loved it, and its one of my very favorite childhood memories. Summertime at its best. I just wanted to let you know that , idk if it's a coincidence or magic , but I had also been loving in a wonderful home for over 3 years now and right when you started to move I did too . I too belong to a military family and living at a place for over two years is a kinda miracle lol . But I was so attached to my room and home , the trees and mountains that could be seen from my window . If I do it in any other order then I end up going back and moving things I think you should take it easy and not rush so you don't do things twice. This time I even took a day off and went to the beach then started again the next day. It seems much easier this way and less of a chore. I highly suggest decorating last. If you are like me you will move things a million times if you don't. Lol. Don't let it control the day. You control it. You got this girl ❤️

Kristy from Australia. The best ice cream I have ever had was from a restaurant in Sydney. It was three scoops. The white was vanilla, the purple was lavender and the green was mint. It was garnished with sugared pansies and little purple sherbet straws flavoured with lavender. A feast for the eyes, the tummy and the soul! It was also served with a glass of French champagne.

Newish subscriber here, a month or so. From the south of Sweden. I live in a city of 350 000 people, but just outside of it and close to the sea and green natural areas where I go for long walks. For me that's a good mix for my life right now, close to things I need/want. Love your peaceful content!
