I like the realism that 10% brings. If allows for mass repeat uses out of crafts before they become obsolete, much like how if a government spent the money to develop something they would use it for multiple missions before moving on. Love the series man. Keep it up man!

Exactly. Not that I don't like Matt lowene, or other KSP youtubers, but Vaos just puts so much effort into his videos, and this isn't his job so he can have as much fun as he wants too, which makes these videos that more fun to watch.

The new Orion landing sequence is SOO COOL. It reenters like Starship, glides like an SSTO and does a graceful belly landing.

This new Orion 4-Passenger variant is a good waypoint for a whole Orion series of simple SSTO craft. I think it would make for a decent "mascot" spaceframe whose design just gets re-utilized for sequentially higher-tech LKO tourist and small satellite launches. Eventually, if you go the way of putting a station in orbit, parking a re-entry variant of the Orion there to ferry down Kerbals from rescue missions would make for a good "final mission" for the spaceframe. Conversely, the Trinity's smaller footprint makes it look like a good technology testbed. Any future multi-mode launch designs on the road to developing the Rapier would be well-tested on it. It could also be the craft that is meant for orbits beyond 100KM or possibly the Mun - as a TSTO boosted craft. I mean, spaceplanes on the Mun are silly, but this is YOUR channel, it would be weird if you weren't using them.

Gonna mention it again, the administration building offers some programs you can buy into, and one converts a portion of the reputation you gain from contracts and milestones into funds, and tourist contracts tend to return a decent amount of reputation so that's maybe 1-2k extra funds per tourist

There are also a few strategies you can use in the Administration building in order to make a bit of money if you really need it; the bail-out grant can be used if you're REALLY in dire straits, to sacrifice reputation for funds.

I think the best thing you can do I to unlock Space Exploration and Advanced Exploration. To unlock the Mobile Processing Lab MPL-LG-2. It will increase Science output greatly.

Testing parts contract is great if you want to have some parts before unlocking the node. I remember I got nerv early game, and it was a game-changing experience

1. For a "lowtech/lowscience run" far better strategy would be NOT to go to orbit (and above). As result, you'll only get suborbital / planetary contracts - more suitable for simplier crafts and limited funds. (including SO tourism contracts = 5 min from launchpad to splashdown) 2. Postproning/collecting tourists have its cons. "Unlimited" contracts from fully upgraded building meaning only that you'll have 15 contracts at maximum. New contracts just would not appear, so attempt to fill up 64-seat endgame Mun-liner could halt all other activities for a while... 3. For me - the best strategy for this run would be going into atmospheric jet planes - and farming "get science readout data" contracts on Kerbin. There are (quite) lowtech plane designs which could do any type of such contracts [including "higher than X km"] in fast, reliable and almost hands-free manner (atmospheric autopilot mod required, or boredome would be unbearable).

You definitely make the water landing look good. Stacking contracts I think is essential when running on low fund low science missions. I started a 10% career myself with some mods of course. I like the unkerbaled start mod that flip flops the tech tree so you have probes before crew capsules. I also use a survival mod that adds food and water requirements for extra challenge.

Right, no lvl 2 mission control means no stacking contracts. I'm doing a play-along with this series with 10% fund income and trying to figure out if I should go lvl 2 Launchpad first and do tourist missions in Kerbin Orbit or Lvl 2 mc first. I just got a 5 m/s rover working using a mystery goo - themometer axis, so I got that going for me. :)

They work amazing in early career - if you have never achieved orbit, you would never get a tourist contract to orbit, so all tourists will be suborbital - trivial to farm with a basic straight up takeoff/landing.

If or when you build a space station maybe add a little claw to the station or docking port to the Orion and have it permanently docked to the station and maybe pretend the tourists could dock to the station and have a tour of the Orion monument

I cant wait untill you figure out how to do wheels that work and start making cargo SSTOs, maybe unlocked "Miniaturization" and get the small docking port, then you could build a Minmus vehicle and it would be cheap as it would be just the costs of the minmus vessel itself, and not the several SSTOs to get up there.

I build a 16 tourist monster (no clipping!) i would fill it up with mun fly by and kerbin orbit tourists made me a shit ton of money...but it took a while until i had it working and i had to invest a considerable amount until than... I had also a fuel station in kerbins orbit so that whenever possible i would transfer fuel to the staion and would only leave a little bit fuel barely enough to land the tourists...all of that orbital fuel became later very useful...

I have used contracts as 'cash cow' for several years now. I never understood why people think they're not profitable. I especially like the Fly by Mun ones because I get free return trajectories and dont have to spend the monies on fuel.

Well, personally I go with satellites. By the time I have the parts to make more funds from tourists I already get enough from the contracts I do along my regular exploration missions. So, at least for me, it's not they are not profitable but they are not profitable enough to justify changing my play style.

I was just wondering why you keep the "Stay-put-nik" probe core but it's probably something i didn't thinked about. if you look at re-entry, notice the nav ball is going prograde, but the ship is pointing up. thats where the probe core comes in. 😊

Early in career mode you get tourism contracts for 2 kerbals to just go into orbit.

Tourists only ask to go to destinations you already reached. It's quite easy to sort only the ones asking for Kevin orbit when the Mum is the only other option.

My supposition is that the craft would struggle to get off the ground and possible not have enough fuel to get into orbit A better alternative would be a Terrier in an upper stage but that would require a fair amount of rework to keep the craft 100% recoverable.

@@vaos3712 mind you, a TWTO could be a viable alternative even without being 100% recoverable. The overall mass and initial cost will be considerable lower and you can use only dirt cheap SRBs for the first stage. But again, it needs some rework to get there and the craft you already have seems to perform well enough.

@@vaos3712 been a long while since I operated my "Orbiter Zero" but if memory serves me right it was about 3500 funds for the same mission. Maybe I could save a bit more recovering the first stage but I never bothered to. Also I wouldn't even mind to land "far" from KSC because the whole craft cost 9300 funds. IMHO the time saved more than make up for the 'wasted' funds.
