God impregnated a girl to give birth to himself, so he could eventurally die in a sacrifice to himself in order to apease his anger at us for the sins we committed due to the personal flaws that he built into us, and he made this sacrifice to save us from the punishment he planned to inflict on us. After God saved humanity from his vengence with his sacrifice, he then continued to burn nearly everyone in Hellfire, and he does all this because he loves us. Makes perfect sense.

The rabbi's alcohol story cracked me up. I had almost the same experience when I was 8 or 9, except my grandfather had a can of beer, and instead of asking to taste, he just offered it to me, "Drink this," he mumbled. Grandpa was from Texas. One sip almost made me sick. I never wanted to touch alcohol again.

Psalm 22 starts with that haunting cry, "My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?"-a line full of raw, human pain. But if you read the whole Psalm, it’s not just about despair. It’s a journey from anguish to trust. By quoting it, Jesus wasn’t just expressing His suffering; He was pointing to the bigger picture, a hope beyond the agony. The same Psalm that starts with feeling abandoned ends with confidence in God’s deliverance: "All the ends of the earth shall remember and turn to the Lord" (Psalm 22:27). It’s a cry that goes beyond the moment, reaching for a promise. As for the argument that this is all about an emotional high, that oversimplifies things. Yes, the story of Jesus touches deep emotions, but it’s not just about feelings. It’s about the purpose behind His suffering-He wasn’t caught off guard. He knew exactly why He was there: "The Son of Man came... to give His life as a ransom for many" (Mark 10:45). That’s not some shallow emotional payoff; it’s the ultimate act of love. His suffering wasn’t pointless; it was the cost of redemption, making a way for us to be reconciled to God. And Jesus wasn’t helpless on that cross. Yes, He was fully human, and He felt real pain. But He also had control over the situation, as He said in John 10:18: "No one takes it from me, but I lay it down of my own accord." His death wasn’t the end of the story-it was the path to resurrection and victory over death. This isn’t just about feeling good for a moment; it’s about the hope of something deeper and eternal. In the name of Jesus Christ, I bless you all!

Do you screen out comments from Christians? There is a very well reasoned argument for why Jesus says this on the cross and it is based in the understanding that God the Father cannot look on sin. When he placed the sins of the world on Jesus’ shoulders and punished him for our sins, he looked away and the Son was alone for the first time since the beginning of creation. Jesus did that for you and for me. You fail to understand the prophets as you are still denying the God who created you. Such a shame. Father forgive them for they know not what they do. But your will be done not mine. His judgment is already upon you and if you are not covered by the blood of Jesus - the spotless lamb - his wrath will not pass over you when it comes.

You are spot on with your comment! I have sat back & watched & listened patiently with rabbi Tovia's replies as to why Christians are sadly mistaken & Tovia only strengthens my faith in our Messiah Yeshua! The Apostle Paul sums it up pretty good when he speaks of the Jewish people being blinded for now, but will soon have their eyes opened to whom they pierced. Thank you Tovia for strengthening my faith in our Messiah.

Jesus's words are fulfilling the Scriptures. if the Psalms 22 is not about His crucifixion, I wonder what is it about. Psalms22:1-21 My God, my God, why have you forsaken me? Why are you so far from saving me, so far from my cries of anguish? My God, I cry out by day, but you do not answer, by night, but I find no rest. Yet you are enthroned as the Holy One; you are the one Israel praises. In you our ancestors put their trust; they trusted and you delivered them. To you they cried out and were saved; in you they trusted and were not put to shame. But I am a worm and not a man, scorned by everyone, despised by the people. All who see me mock me; they hurl insults, shaking their heads. “He trusts in the LORD,” they say, “let the LORD rescue him. Let him deliver him, since he delights in him.” Yet you brought me out of the womb; you made me trust in you, even at my mother’s breast. From birth I was cast on you; from my mother’s womb you have been my God. Do not be far from me, for trouble is near and there is no one to help. Many bulls surround me; strong bulls of Bashan encircle me. Roaring lions that tear their prey open their mouths wide against me. I am poured out like water, and all my bones are out of joint. My heart has turned to wax; it has melted within me. My mouth is dried up like a potsherd, and my tongue sticks to the roof of my mouth; you lay me in the dust of death. Dogs surround me, a pack of villains encircles me; they pierce my hands and my feet. All my bones are on display; people stare and gloat over me. They divide my clothes among them and cast lots for my garment. But you, LORD, do not be far from me. You are my strength; come quickly to help me. Deliver me from the sword, my precious life from the power of the dogs. Rescue me from the mouth of the lions; save me from the horns of the wild oxen. Say what you say about Christ, He is what He is. By the way, Jesus was never helpless, He was forsaken by all, yes but never helpless. He went to His fate as a Redeemer with courage and determination. He was extremely broken in the garden of Gethsemane that He sweated blood but stood up and faced the mob (temple guards) who came to arrest Him proclaiming He is the One whom they're looking for, defending and protecting His disciples. He claimed who He is before Anna, He claimed who He is before Caiaphe and the Sanhedrin and before Pilate. Helpless? Never...

Psalm 22 is about king David and his anguish, as the Psalm preface says. It is clearly not about a divine being. Moreover, there is nothing Christological in the entire Psalm! The suffering and anguish described are not associated with a divine plan for humanity's redemption from sin. The entire _purpose_ of Jesus's mission, which is the salvation of the human race (according to the NT), is missing from the Psalm.
@comali2212
@comali2212 7 ай бұрын
@ergnz Yeah, King David's anguish included the piercing of His hands and feet too. Didn't know King David was nailed by hid hands and feet. What about Psalm 110:1? Psalm of David. The LORD said to my Lord: “Sit at My right hand until I make Your enemies a footstool for Your feet.” The LORD extends Your mighty scepter from Zion: “Rule in the midst of Your enemies.”… Who is that LORD who was talking to David's Lord if not the Father talking to the Son? Is it also Isaiah's anguish in 53:5 and not Christ's suffering? Surely He took on our infirmities and carried our sorrows; yet we considered Him stricken by God, struck down and afflicted. But He was pierced for our transgressions, He was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was upon Him, and by His stripes we are healed. We all like sheep have gone astray, each one has turned to his own way; and the LORD has laid upon Him the iniquity of us all.… The denial is still as it was 2000 years ago, not surprised. Christ warned the people including His followers that lies will always be spread about Him and He was right.
@psandbergnz
@psandbergnz 7 ай бұрын
@comali, if the Psalm is about Jesus (rather than about king David, as the Psalm preface states), then where does it imply or even _hint,_ that the suffering and anguish have anything to with an atoning sacrifice for the sins of mankind? Where is there any Christology in it? There is nothing there to imply that the trials described serve a divine plan to save humanity. The KEY ingredient for Jesus (which is redemption, according to the NT) is entirely missing! Besides this, the context shows it cannot be about your Jesus or a divine being. How could God liken himself to "a worm, not a man"? And did Jesus pray CONSTANTLY ("by day and by night") only to find his prayers went unanswered (verse 2)? Please find me THAT from your Gospel stories?! The verse implies not just having his prayers rejected in one evening (as for Jesus), but persistently. "They pierce my hands and my feet" is a Christian mistranslation of the Hebrew. That verse should be: "LIKE A LION, they are at my hands and my feet." The Hebrew is "Ka'ari" meaning like a lion. There is no "piercing" of hands and feet there, and what about the piercing in Jesus''s side - Why is that absent?
@comali2212
@comali2212 7 ай бұрын
@@psandbergnz Seems you missed reading Isaiah 53:5 it imply clearly that the suffering and anguish is an atoning sacrifice for the sins of mankind, I included it in my message but still the denial is obvious. Again, it seems also that you purposely missed the entire Psalm about Christ's sufferings and the incident on Golgotha: scorned by everyone, despised by the people. All who see me mock me; they hurl insults, shaking their heads. “He trusts in the Lord,” they say, “let the Lord rescue him. Let him deliver him, since he delights in him. ”Many bulls surround me; strong bulls of Bashan encircle me. Roaring lions that tear their prey open their mouths wide against me. I am poured out like water, and all my bones are out of joint. My heart has turned to wax; it has melted within me. My mouth[d] is dried up like a potsherd, and my tongue sticks to the roof of my mouth; you lay me in the dust of death. Dogs surround me, a pack of villains encircles me; they pierce[e] my hands and my feet. All my bones are on display; people stare and gloat over me. They divide my clothes among them and cast lots for my garment. (That happened literally during Christ's Passion all the way through and it's all mentioned in the Bible (The New Testament, The New Covenant that put to rest and in the last seats"God's own people" and placed God's new people including gentiles who believe in Christ as the Son of God and the Redeemer of humanity in the first seats). You said there is no "piercing" of hands and feet there, and what about the piercing in Jesus''s side - Why is that absent? The crucifixion, is through the hands and the feet, not the side. If King David mentioned all what Jesus went through, he probably needed a whole book. The Crown of thorns, the whipping which is mentioned, the trials, the beating, a lot of things the "beloved Jews" did to Christ you know. You said, the context shows it cannot be about your Jesus or a divine being. How could God liken himself to "a worm, not a man"? Isn't He the Sacrificial Lamb of God? Isn't that what really happened during His Passion, He was considered as a Leper, a mad Man, a criminal, despised and forsaken. He drank the Cup to the last drop, He didn't coward and ran away, He faced a whole population, system and Empire, alone. But alas, the denial and spreading lies about Him, still alive and well but it won't be for long.

If you don't have the Holy Spirit you will never have revealed truth! You must repent of your sins, accept Christ as your messiah and savior, and then the truth will be revealed to you. But if you draw only from the letter and give the letters your direction, it is wrong. There is no difference between a Jew and a common Gentile, we have all sinned against God, not one is righteous. Do Jews think that if they have heifers they can sacrifice? And for what ? That is why God sent his only righteous Lord Jesus Christ to punish our iniquities on him, and those heifers that the Jews brought are useless, if he does not approach God through Christ, it is useless. You obey the law and reject grace. But in the last times you will know the Lord Jesus Christ, glory to God forever and ever.

So the rabbi says it wasn't a sacrifice but a bonus or a win in the lottery, or a refund, and anyone given the chance would make a dash for it. In practice all the disciples ran away when given the chance to be crucified with Jesus. So when you are standing there in real life, facing the reality of it, you will not want to face the cross. One further point, to face the cross when you are 100% innocent and without sin, is a completely different matter than getting the just reward for your sinful life.

@RickHaydnHorst accurate and fictional are not the same things. Fiction requires the author to know he is making it up. Inaccurate just means the author’s pov wasn’t really the reality. Mark is the oldest gospel, also the least supernatural and least anti-Jewish. So it was probably, mostly the way the people there at the time thought it went down. The theology is very different from the rest of the Bible and such. So it is probably the most reliable part of the NT.

Psalm 22 was a prophecy about the messiah. It’s pretty much as simple as that. Same with Palm Sunday and riding the ass into Jerusalem in Zechariah 9. Isaiah 53 is also a prophecy of the messiah. No matter how much bloviating you do about the structure of songwriting, you cannot explain away the prophetic passages pointing directly to Jesus in the Old Testament. But keep trying.

Constantine legalized Christianity in the Edict of Milan, he was not the one to make Christianity the Official Religion of the Roman Empire. That was Theodosius. You demonstrate who is blind and giving into temptation. The Jews are the Suffering Servant who the Nations have long come against, Christianity becoming their longest enduring and most DEADLIEST of all their Oppressors, good King Hezekiah was the Prince of Peace, Immanuel was Isaiah's own son and Daniel's 7 Vision of the 4 Beasts and one like a man who come before the ANCIENT OF DAYS, this is King David's progeny who like King David will represent all of Israel coming before the CREATOR. Luke never stated that he was going to be in Paradise with the criminal. It was Jesus who said this on the cross, to the man who recognised he was a sinner who deserved to die, and that Jesus was innocent and did not deserve to die. "And he said to him, “Truly, I say to you, today you will be with me in paradise.” (Luke 23:43). If you actually knew God you would understand that this is REPENTANCE. Also, you are ignorant of Jesus words when He says; "Father why have you forsaken me?" It is clear that God cannot look upon sin because He is an Holy God. Jesus was taking upon Himself all the sins of the World, by enduring death. This is the one time that Jesus was truly separated from His Father. Death came into the World through one mans sin (Adam). And Jesus was reversing this curse in Himself. Believers in Christ stand today knowing He will return and restore everything that was destroyed in Eden. Christ gave Himself and His blood to atone for our sins. He became the perfect sacrifice (instead of animal sacrificion in the O.T Scriptures). Because man in his disobedience needed a different way. If you want to attack Scripture today. I would suggest you do your homework first. To miquote Luke 23:43 demonstrates to me that you are misinformed on what it is you actually believe. I would suggest that you read the Bible in its entirety, before making outlandish claims. Also, you might want to consider looking very carefully on who Christ actually is. Especially since He appears quite a few times in the O.T. He even tells you Himself, "If you knew the scriptures, you would know ME!"

If the Tanach Prophets knew that they were going to be violently killed for their preaching, would this knowledge have kept them from preaching God's message? Of course not. Did these men want to die violent deaths? Of course not. Men like Isaiah who met violent deaths for their preaching were confident in their resurrection to paradise and beyond to their reward. Jesus was the expected Prophet (like unto Moses) who was endowed with both the 7-facet "Holy Spirit of God" and the "Spirit of the Messiah" at his adult baptism. As a Prophet, Jesus knew his mortal fate, and he knew his reward for being faithful to his prophetic commission. He knew his violent fate, he prophesied about it, and he accepted it. He (as other Prophets were) was confident in being resurrected, but even with that knowledge, who would be happy while they were being tortured and crucified? Still, Jesus was resigned to the conclusion of his mortal suffering and future reward. Did Jesus cry out the words for a show? Perhaps. It is very probable that those who witnessed (the Pharisees) the crucifixion, were bit to the bone because of the scene and the words he cried...they would have known immediately what they had done. Is David in Psalm 22 a prototype of Jesus? Absolutely. David as a man, was worried about his physical wellbeing. Jesus, as David's descendant, when he was tortured and crucified, literally had the physical experience his ancestor described. Jesus was 100% man...and he was 100% worried and in pain, and he 100% remained faithful to his task up to and past his crucifixion and resurrection, just as every other true Prophet was faithful up until death (or whatever their fate demanded). One thing I would like to point out about the Rabbi's somewhat dismissive comment towards the end. He's acting like Jesus' death was an axe chop or a sword thrust (a quick simple somewhat painless death) and then a resurrection as a reward. Jesus suffered a long and drawn-out torture, most likely the most cruel torture in the history of mankind. By his pious and righteous life, and his brutal torture and murder (for obeying his commission as being the expected Prophet), he was/is rewarded with the resurrection and paradise...and, in the future, he will return as the Messiah b. David to rule the Messianic Kingdom era.

@@billieackley6280 Go back and reread what I wrote. Prophet...Prophet...Prophet....At his 1st Coming, Jesus came in the primary role as the expected Prophet "like unto Moses". Prophet...Prophet....Prophet....Jesus was an executed Prophet just like many other Prophets in Israel's past who were sent to reprimand and teach and were brutally executed. Are you catching the theme...or should I repeat it one more time? Please stop with the Jesus Messiah thing....that is really less important than Jesus being the Prophet (like unto Moses). Quick question on the suffering of the Messiah...does this have any validity with you (or anyone else) or is this made up? • "The Holy One, blessed be He, will tell him (the Messiah) in detail what will befall him... their sins will cause you to bend down as under a yoke of iron and make you like a calf whose eyes grow dim with suffering and will choke your spirit as with a yoke, and because of their sins, your tongue will cleave to the roof of your mouth. Are you willing to endure such things?... The Messiah will say: ‘Master of the universe with joy in my soul and gladness in my heart I take this suffering upon myself provided that not one person in Israel will perish so that not only those who are alive be saved in my days but also those who are dead, who died from the days of Adam up to the time of redemption.’" [Pesikta Rabbati, Piska 36.1; Zohar II. 212a]

Then what about Torah stories about Noah's flood, the ark of the covenants' magic powers, Moses parting the Red Sea, a burning bush that was on fire but not consumed by the fire??? Even though I'm a christian I quite enjoyed listening to you there, rabbi Singer. i think you're guilty of a few errors though (1) Jesus didn't say 'I say to you, TODAY you will be with me in paradise' but rather 'TODAY I say to you, you will be with me in paradise'. it's a hebraism in other words eg Deut 4:26 'I call heaven and earth to witness against you this day that you shall soon utterly perish from off the land'. They obviously didn't perish off the land THAT DAY! (2) your assertion that Mark wants to portray Jesus as a 'pathetic character' is surely false and you must know that. Virtually everyone recognizes that Mark portrays Jesus as a dynamic, powerful, irresistable 'force' and in fact only a few verses prior to 'the cry of dereliction' he states, 'and the scripture was fulfilled which saith, AND HE WAS NUMBERED WITH THE TRANSGRESSORS' (15:28). In other words he makes it clear that it was all intentional. (3) do you think David was contradicting himself in Ps 22:1 when he went on to say 'I am a WORM and no man' but then 'thou took me from my mothers womb' and 'my bones are out of joint' and 'they pierced my hands and my feet'? (4) Note the 7 words from the cross: A: Father forgive them they know not what they do (Luke 23:34) C1 I say to you this day, you will be with me in paradise ( Luke 23:43) C2 Behold your son Behold your mother (Jn 19:26,27) A: My God My God why have you forsaken me (Matt 27:46) C1 to fulfil scripture he said, I am thirsty (Jn 19:28) C2 after drinking the wine he said, It is finished (Jn 19:30) A Father into your hands I commit my spirit (Luke 23:46) Praise God! All Israel will be saved

Yes, it was a sincere question because Messiah is cut off as Dan 9:26 says. Sin that was placed upon him cut him off from HASHEM. Beware of the Lake of Fire.

Isaiah says that the Knowledge of the Lord will be spread throughout the earth by the Messiah. Before Jesus Christ, barely any percentage of the world, believed in the Abrahamic God. Now, because of Jesus Christ, around half of the world believes in the Abrahamic God, including Muslims (Islam wouldn’t have happened without Christ), Christians, etc.

I studied Christianity thoroughly. About 30 years ago I became a righteous Gentile, according to Judaism. * Now to your claim from my point of view. Isaiah wrote about the Messianic Age. - In the Messianic Age from Isaiah 2:4 and Micah 4:3, God will bring world peace and the final king Messiah will lead a world at peace. - Also in the Messianic Age, God will influence the entire world (led by the final king Messiah) to acknowledge and worship the one God. (Isaiah 11:9, Zephaniah 3:9) * None of this has happened yet. - There is no world peace. - Half of the world believing in some type of Abrahamic god (corrupted in Christianity) is not the entire world worshiping the one God. * The Messianic Age hasn’t happened. The final king Messiah has not yet come.

@@bb1111116 Jesus came first as the suffering servant, foreshadowed by Joseph. He will come again as the Lion of the tribe of Judah at the last (seventh) trumpet to rescue the remnant of Israel, as well as all born again believers who trust Him by grace through faith. That is when the messianic age begins, the millennium, with Jesus ruling from Jerusalem. Noahide laws are unbiblical and dangerous. There is none righteous, not one. All our works are as filthy rags. Before Jesus returns on the last day, satan will posess the antichrist figure who will make a covenant with the many for 7 years. Then he will stop the sacrifices and offerings after 3.5 years and sit in the temple declaring himself to be god. The false prophet, who will call down fire from the sky (God says this will be a lying sign) will also institute the mark of the beast. So people who do not follow Christ are being set up to receive the antichrist as the messiah.

Jesus saved me from hell nearly 10 years ago. He washed me clean from my sins and He will not remember them anymore. After Jesus saved me He freely delivered me from alcoholism, depression and anxiety. He saved my marriage. He has answered more prayers than I can count. Even those prayers that the world might see as insignificant, Jesus did not overlook them. He is faithful. Many of you love this. The Word of God is foolishness to those who do not believe. Daniel sought clarity but I hope he seeks God for understanding. Jesus is not crying out in hopelessness. Psalm 22 needs to be read in it’s entirety as Jesus brings His children here to show that this was all prophesied. Research the practices of crucifixion. Ask yourself, is it common practice to cast lots for the clothing of one being crucified? Verse 18 prophesies of what the soldiers did at Jesus crucifixion ONLY. Verses 13-18 prophesies to you exactly what happened during the crucifixion of Jesus. Rabbi Singer is dancing around this…repent and do not dance with him. Jesus Christ confidently tells you without contradiction what He knows must happen and it hurts still when He cries out Psalms 22 as a reminder. Be encouraged!

Psalms 22 is where David tells of his own difficult life, his own Enemies and his own faith experiences. David used the animals that he encountered as a Shepherd as metaphors for his numerous Enemies who wanted what little he had at the time including his life, he shares his experiences brought about by all these difficulties, no matter who QUOTES David, they remain David's own words about his own difficult life, his own Enemies and his own faith experiences, NOT his coming progeny, the Moshiach.

Jeremiah 31:31-34, God promises a new covenant with His people, distinct from the covenant made at Mount Sinai. This new covenant entails a direct relationship between God and each individual, as He says, "I will put my law in their minds and write it on their hearts. I will be their God, and they will be my people" This covenant emphasizes a personal connection with God and the internalization of His laws, rather than external obedience. It is a covenant of grace and forgiveness, offering the opportunity for spiritual renewal and a deepened relationship with God.

We see the fulfillment of this prophecy in the coming of Jesus Christ, who inaugurated the new covenant through His death and resurrection. In the New Testament, Jesus refers to the new covenant in His Last Supper discourse (Matthew 26:28) and Paul discusses it in his letters (e.g., 1 Corinthians 11:25, 2 Corinthians 3:6, Hebrews 8:6-13). This new covenant is seen as a spiritual renewal and transformation of God’s relationship with His people, made possible through the forgiveness of sins by Jesus’ sacrificial death on the cross.

Jesus often quoted verses from the prophets, psalms etc. The idea was that he was completing judaism and not necessarily contradicting it.. he Lord was examined by the Gentiles according to the law of the Roman Empire (18:28-38a). The law of the Roman Empire was famous. Even today many countries base their law upon it. Before the Lord was examined by the Gentiles according to their law in the politics, He was examined according to the Jewish law for execution. Then He was examined by the Roman politics, by the law of the earthly power. The Jewish law for execution was to stone the criminal to death (18:31; Lev. 24:16). If that method of execution had been available at the time, the Lord Jesus might have been stoned to death. But that would not have fulfilled the prophecy spoken by the Lord when He said that He would be lifted [511] up as the brass serpent was lifted up by Moses in the wilderness (3:14). Many years ago I read an article describing how the Jews slew the lamb during the Passover. The article said that the Jews took two wooden bars and formed a cross. They put the lamb on the cross, tying two of the lamb’s legs to the foot of the cross and fastening the outstretched legs to the crossbar. Then they slew the lamb so that all its blood was shed. Thus, the killing of the Passover lamb was a portrait of the crucifixion of Christ. Although the Jewish method of execution of criminals according to their law was to stone them to death, the Jewish nation was not in power when the Lord was crucified. Hence, the Jewish nation had lost the legal right to execute criminals according to their law. Not long before the crucifixion of Christ, the Roman government adopted crucifixion as the method of executing criminals. This was decided under God’s sovereignty that the prophecies regarding Christ’s crucifixion might be fulfilled (vv. 31-32; 12:32-33).

Immoral things in Jud-- 1. Allowance Contraception If you allow for contraception, like Juda- gives allowance for if you have two children of male and female, then you are thereby saying that a perver-n is morally okay sometimes. If that’s the case you should say all perver-ons are not wrong. And therefore, allow for things like -e-st-ity. 2. Abortion Yeah, the stance here he has makes zero sense. How does a baby magically become a person when it’s head pops out. If you can’t trade a life for a life, then it makes zero sense why they allow for direct abortion in cases of life, instead of only allowing indirect in these specific cases. If the soul is the principle of life, and a fetus is human, since it has human DNA, and alive, bc it grows, and a whole organism, not a part of an organism, then a living human organism must have a human soul, and therefore be a person. I would say a person is an individual member of a rational kind. Animals have consciousness, etc, and are not persons. Infants are considered persons, and yet they don’t think rationally. So, if life begins at conception (scientifically it does), then why isn’t a fetus considered a person? That’s backwards imo. 3. Allowances for chattel slavery like to ancient Canaanites 4. Allowing divorce and in some cases, polygamy. Both of which are immoral.

Rabbi doesn’t understand that Jesus intended all this to happen. He was able to talk with people during his walk because he understood what was happening and why. Therefore, he wasn’t shocked out of his mind and could communicate. However, being on the cross was different because this is where he took on the sin of the world. His cry (Rabbi’s main problem) was genuine because if sin isolates you from God, by taking on our sins to cleanse them he would have genuinely felt isolated. He also doesn’t understand the cross. Rabbi said that anyone would have done it if he had know what would have come after. Rabbi, if you were God in heaven you would not have come down to save and suffer at the hands of the people who would have rebuked and sinned against you. Jesus went out of his way to come down, suffer, and go back up to heaven where he belonged. This should feel good because God came down to Earth because he loved us enough to die a death he didn’t deserve for our sakes. The cross is aptly named the PASSION, you can’t understand it by sole logic because it’s about love not reason. It doesn’t make sense that God would die for us, but he did it because there was love. Therefore you need to understand that love and emotion to understand the passion. Comparing Christianity to a drug was also false. As a Catholic, I intentionally avoid short-term pleasures like porn or neglecting prayer so I may grow closer to God. My life is harder because I am Catholic and I live in awe of the Crucifixion because it gives meaning and hope to my suffering that it shall give me salvation through Christ Jesus on the Cross.

Even Rashi commented that this was a future prophecy “Why have You forsaken me?: They are destined to go into exile, and David recited this prayer for the future.” [Rabbi Shlomo Yitzchaki (Rashi)]. This is a powerful statement because Yeshua (Jesus) is quoting the prophecy about Himself which at the beginning of Psalm 22 starts "My God, my God, why have You forsaken me?” He knows His Jewish audience at the cross will recognize what He’s saying and will remember the prophecies about the Messiah that are in that Psalm. If you continue reading the Psalm there are prophecies which are easily recognized as being fulfilled "They pierced my hands and my feet. I can count all my bones. [because none of His bones were broken].They divide my clothes among them, and cast lots for my garment." When did King David experience any of this? Sadly many here would just give up and listen to man rather than investigate further and try to comprehend why this verse is in Mark 15:34. 1 Peter 4:12-17 "Loved ones, do not be surprised at the fiery ordeal taking place among you TO TEST YOU..."

Playing “devil’s advocate”, I believe the cry out is supposed to show his humanity. A woman can be well educated in childbirth and understand all that she is to go through and know that one the other side of the experience all will be well (the majority of the time) and still feel afraid and abandoned in the midst of labor, so I don’t think “knowing the bargain” is quite the inconsistency. For me the inconsistency lies in the idea Jesus did not sin. I don’t know, is doubting G-d’s promises a sin? You tell me. When we doubt don’t we call Him a liar? Jewish people do doubt in the Torah - was the doubt at Sinai the sin? Or simply the fashioning of the calf? But regardless, if Jesus were to be fully G-d as the Baptist preacher states, he would not just have had a promise or a bargain, but also the complete knowledge of past, present and future, so how can there be any doubt?

When Jesus of Nazareth was on his mission, he said that The Father was always with him. He stated that he was not left alone, but his Father was with him. The Father and Son were together before the world was - as recorded in John 17 when he was praying to The Father. When he was in the garden, he prayed that The Father would remove the cup... but he did not. Jesus of Nazareth also stated that Scripture cannot be broken recorded in John 10; therefore, he had to fulfill Scripture by dying on that cross. He did it ALONE. As he cried out to God, he was fulfilling Psalm 22:1. And when he died, he also fulfilled Isaiah 53. He conquered death accor ding to Isaiah 25:8 - he would swallow up death in VICTORY - and also fulfilling Hosea 13:14 - I will ransom them from the power of the grave; I will redeem them from death: O death, I will be thy plagues; O grave, I will be thy destruction: repentance shall be hid from mine eyes. The angels, good and bad, and the prophets did not know God's redemption plan. The Apostle Peter mentions this in his 1st Epistle in verse 10 thru 12. At his death he also became The Lamb of God sacrifice fulfilling the Passover Lamb offering, He also fulfilled the Yom Kippur sacrifice as he was put to death. John The Baptist proclaimed him as 'The Lamb of God'! - and that he was.

Like the majority of pagan religions its based on astro-theology and the Sun worship. Compared to Gd, being a sun though is pretty limiting, comparing the Sun to one who reacted Everything.

This makes sense. I grew up in Christianity. I left after being disgusted for a long time by what I now will call its culture of using. Using each other, using scripture to get high, nonstop exploiting in a bunch of sick little repetitive patterns I eventually disconnected from. There’s a certain personality type that loves it and I find those particular people alarming. Can’t get away fast enough.

You decided Jesus didn’t rise from the dead because of the failings of some of his modern day followers? I don’t see the logic in that.

@@williamzoom9200 I decided zombie Jesus wasn’t real after reading the Bible @2012ish with a critical mind. I’d had enough with the people, playing pretend with them and talking to myself. Then I found Bart Ehrman and a slew of other fascinating scholars and apostates along my path to rejecting belief in Christianity and all things Abrahamic.

@@karenabrams8986 I hope that by “read” you really meant “study”. If I were to just read it, there would surely be much I wouldn’t understand or would misinterpret, given that it was written in a different time and culture. As far as Mr Ehrman and his ilk, I’ve read him and watched his lectures/interviews as well; I have taken a critical eye to my faith and come to a different conclusion. Hopefully you’ve also considered the rebuttals to his/their arguments as well.

See if this story makes sense: A man sits on a beach in Florida in July 1969 and sees a large explosion in the distance. He goes home and tells all his neighbors that something huge has happened and something must have been destroyed in the explosion. Later, he finds out that the explosion was the Saturn V Rocket and a few days after the event, man put his foot on the moon for the first time. The good rabbi is the man on the beach. he cannot do not see the World as it is, he can only see the World as he is. The good Rabbi interprets the Gospel as a Jew and therefore fails to comprehend it. He claims the story of Jesus does not make sense, but all the stories in his Bible do? Come on.

My favorite version: God sacrificed himself to himself to be his own loophole for rules he made to avoid imposing punishments he decreed on humans he created too weak to follow those rules.

Yeshua was a Jewish Torah and Tanakh observer, he always quotes both of these. He quotes Psalm 22 spoken to by David but in addition, it describes a crucifixion scenario which David did not experience. Could this also be a prophetic psalm? It may also refer symbolically to Israel's suffering, but Hashem has never abandoned Israel or David even though at times Hashem appears to be silent. Isaiah 53 uses similar language. One can view Yeshua as a suffering servant. The sacrificial system was for the Jews only. However is it possible that the son of God spoken to in the book of Daniel walking in the fire pit with Daniel's friends is the same that saves us from destruction by dying instead of us, just like the lamb? Could it be that a son of Hashem takes on the garment of Son of Man? Could it be that Yeshua is the suffering servant, and the messiah King to come who will restore the temple and world peace? I don't have fixed answers just lots of questions.
