@@geoffreyk6229: You have a MAJOR misunderstanding of the purpose of the Jewish Messiah. Unlike the Christian 'Messiah', the Jewish Messiah absolutely does NOT 'save people from their sins', he fulfilled ZERO prophecies and NOWHERE did God ever mention the "Jesus" character to us in the ETERNAL Hebrew scriptures, given to Moses at Mt. Sinai. PLEASE do some ACTUAL HONEST research on this subject, and learn from the Orthodox Rabbis, as commanded by God in Deut. 17:8-11. In the absence of the Temple, the Rabbis are our spiritual teachers, since they (and ONLY THEY!!) have been studying the original Hebrew scriptures all the way back to Mt. Sinai.

It's called word play, I'll use the 2 person's example for context. Let's say I'm a father, and I'm a great questionable person, as a father I could be good to my kids, and as a husband I could be terrible as a parent. Figure out the riddle, it's called selective preferences. Aka I'm only perfect when I feel like it (or am praying to idolatry after getting drunk with some blood covenant wine) and then afterwards I'm magical forgiven after i sober up from my blackout and become a miracle worker without divine powers. Makes sense???? You're perfect when you're drunk, and your normal when you're sober. In the spirit vs in the flesh or something. I don't know.

The Church elevated Jesus to the deity status following the example of honors bestowed on Caesar and Augustus, and a long tradition of semi-gods in the Greco-Roman culture. This is what people of the empire wanted. This is what they got. There is nothing in the New Testament about it, because it preceded the invention of the Trinitarian doctrine. It is only in the 4th century (300s) that the doctrine found its way to the Nicene Creed of 325 CE. Even so, the Arians would have none of it, and they did not go away following the First Council. Arianism persisted, especially amongst Vandals and Visigoths of North Africa until it was subsumed in Islam eventually.

@@geoffreyk6229 Yes, but you should understand that the books we consider canonical today did not become so until the fourth century. In the meantime there was an explosion of literary activity about Jesus with countless stories invented, most of which the church rejected in due course. Of the canonical Gospels the Johannite books, which stand apart from the rest anyway, get closest to the idea of the Trinity but do not state it explicitly. For this the Christendom had to wait until Tertullian (155-200 CE), but in his idea Jesus and the Holy Ghost were still subordinate to the Father.

Because the NT carries historic information, perfectly aligns with Tanakh to the point of unveiling things which your rabbis can't comprehend to this day. Like the Messiah was expected to perform miracles, open blind eyes, confirm feeble knees, be the light (a light to the Gentiles), be at the right hand of the Father (as Psalm 110:5 clearly tells you), so on and so forth.

@@NaiveTeacher You can't even get past Matthew chapter 1 without finding serious errors: The gospel of Mathew was written anonymously. The writer does not identify himself anywhere in the text and writes in the third person. The writer does not claim to be an eyewitness. There is uncertainty as to the language Mathew was written in; extant texts are in Greek, but Shem Tob’s Hebrew Gospel of Mathew may be the oldest extant copy. (See “Hebrew Gospel of Mathew” by George Howard) Mat. 1:17 says the Generations are 14, 14, and 14, but if you count them in Mat. 1 they are 14, 14, and 13. Mat. 1:11-12 says Jesus came through the lineage of Jeconias, but Jaconiah was cursed in Jer. 22:30 and was told NONE of his descendants would sit on the throne of David. Mat. 1 Omits four people listed in Solomon’s lineage in 1 Chron. 3:11-15 to try and make the math come out right. (Ahaziah, Jehoash, Amaziah, and Jehoiakim) Mat. 1:23 mis-translates Isa. 7:14 which actually says a young woman (Hebrew almah) not a virgin (Hebrew betulah) The sign being given was given to King Ahaz to be fulfilled in his lifetime. The same prophecy includes a verifiable promise: (vs. 16) “…the land of the two kings whom you fear (Rezin and Pekah) will be abandoned.” 2 Kings 16:9 records the death of Rezin (732 B.C.) 2 Kings 15:30 records the death of Pekah (732 B.C.) So that prophecy was fulfilled in 732 B.C. Numbers 1:2 - Lineage is through paternal lineage, not by adoption.

This was an idea of early 2nd century Hellenistic-Alexandrian bishops, influenced by Platonic "ideas"/metaphysics. The concept then spread everywhere, but it also caused heated controversy for a long time. Almost all Christian dogmas originally come from Egypt/North Africa, Syria and today's Türkiye (Eastern Rome/Byzantine). The immense influences of Platonic and later Alestotle philosophy on early and medieval Christianity have led to many erroneous views/concepts. However, the old religious dogmas are now being interpreted differently, at least by Western Christianity; a clear distinction is usually made between God and Jesus. Many dogmatic religious disputes also had to do with personal or political power interests, but that was no different in historical Judaism.

This is one of most interesting videos from Tovia Singer that I've watched. My questions are so fundamental to Christianity that I don't understand how modern Christians don't consider these questions. As a student of history I am well aware that the early church fathers discussed points of theology and had different councils like the Council of Nicea but when I talk to the Evangelical Protestants who try to convert me they don't know anything at all about these Church fathers and in fact will dismiss them as being Roman Catholics and emphatically distinguish themselves from them. Growing up as a Jew it seemed simple to me that Christians have added another God, a son, but since they did have the Father I considered them having the same God and the books that I read classified Judaism, Christianity, and Islam as the three grest monotheistic religions. On the internet it is emphasized by Christians that Jesus is God and that Jesus is found in the Old Testament and that when God encountered people in the Old Testament that was Jesus but I do not find this when I read the Old Testament; it clearly seems like God the Father. Reading the New Testament does not make one feel that Jesus is fully man and fully God but rather only a man or perhaps another lessor God. I am Jewish and in high school in 1973 under evangelical pressure I accepted the Christian challenge to read the New Testament. However reading the New Testament did not bring me to Christ as they hoped but actually had the opposite effect. Reading the New Testament gave me many questions and I also saw how the New Testament could easily be taken against Jews. In context it is one group of Jews against another group of Jews but most Christians are going to read that Bible as the Jews being the enemies so in truth the New Testament is very anti-Semitic. All the Christians love to say that the New Testament is so nice and loving and loving to Jews especially but I did not find it that way. I ask questions but Christians never give me real answers, it is always have faith, believe, pray to God and the truth will come to you, God is able to do anything, or it's a miracle or a mystery.

*_GayZEUS_* of the Synoptic Gospels is a literary character invented by the Romans to promote the recent arrival of the Flavian dynasty to imperial power, creating an archetype of messiah towards which all preexisting Jewish prophecies converged. The aim was (1) to empty Jewish concepts, hijacking the messianic hope and solidifying a controversial archetype of Jewish messiah, (2) to blame the Jews for their own destruction in the war of Jerusalem in 70 and (3) to exalt the Flavian dynasty of emperors. The content of the message propagated by the characters in the narrative portrays an agenda of political accommodation, preservation of the imperial “status quo”, anti-Judaism and military indoctrination: both for Roman soldiers and for colonized civilians. Soldiers are often the recipients of the teachings of the Gospels, which occur both explicitly (as in Luke 3:14, when John the Baptist recommends that soldiers be content with their pay, just as Rome advised those recruited for military service) and implicitly (as in Luke 9:23, when the instruction is given to abandon everything - family, friends, work - and follow the leader, just as the government wanted the soldiers to do). There is also abundant teaching reinforcing the civil obligation to serve soldiers, including obeying them for twice the amount required (Matthew 5:41). The character Jesus always presents himself as the reformer of the Law of Moses (Matthew 5:38, correcting Exodus 21:24 on the principle of “an eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth”) and the propagator of various Roman laws (as in Mark 10:12 on marriage and in Matthew 22:21 recommending the payment of taxes). Jesus never taught his disciples to love Jews or their relatives, but he *_did teach them to love Romans (Matt. 5:44) and to turn the other cheek (Matt. 5:39). The Flavian Theory, therefore, not only presents a coherent argument for the literary origins of Jesus, but also highlights the Romans' ability to use religion as a tool of sociopolitical control. *_Some of the most enigmatic passages found in the gospels are more easily understood when seen through the eyes of a general speaking to his legions._* *I had an insipid deplorable two faced Greek woman admit to all of it proudly in these comment boards awhile ago, very sickening.* 🤮🤮🤮

According to Prof. Bart Ehrman, the doctrine of the Trinity is not based on the kind of logic we normally use, because normally, if we have three apples we don't say we have one apple,it required very deep philosophical thought to be developed on the basis of certain philosophical constructs from Greek philosophy, concepts to what it means to be a person, what it means to be a substance, what the essence of something is and these Greek concepts were not available to the authors of the New Testament, even Paul.

The rabbi is suggesting that there will be no man sitting on a thrown in the temple of God in the messianic age. But there are scriptures that say that there will. Isaiah 6:1-3 describes a person sitting on a thrown and wearing a robe in the temple of God. And only a man can sit and wear a robe. Jeremiah 3:16-17 also says that the ark of the covenant will be replaced with a throne (that is something only a human can sit on). Ezekiel 43:2-4 descibes the "glory of the Lord" finally entering the temple of the Lord. And he describes this glory in chapter 1 as a son of man sitting on a sapphire throne. And Daniel 7:13-14 predicts a son of man given glory and sovereign power over all people in the Presences of the Lord that exists where, in the temple of God, of course.

In Matthew there’s sixty nine verses that makes a very clear distinction between God and Jesus, in Mark contains forty five, in Luke there’s ninety nine, in John there one hundred and sixty seven. The book of Acts contains about fifty six passages that make a clear distinction between God and Jesus, you stated before in Isaiah 45:11-12 “for I am God, and there is none else.” And many more, your information and knowledge of the Bible is very helpful and inspiring.

Memra: The Creative Word of God in Targumim Memra is a term found in the Targumim, Aramaic translations of the Hebrew Bible, that refers to the creative Word of God. It is often used as a substitute for God Himself in contexts where anthropomorphic language might be inappropriate or misleading. Creative Force: The Memra is seen as the active force through which God created the universe. It is the divine utterance or command that brought everything into existence. Divine Manifestation: The Memra is often considered a manifestation or aspect of God, rather than a separate entity. It is like the divine voice or agent through which God interacts with the world. Mediator: In some cases, the Memra is seen as a mediator between God and humanity, conveying divine messages and instructions. Significance of the Memra in Jewish Thought: Preserving Monotheism: The concept of the Memra helped to preserve the monotheistic nature of Jewish belief. By using a term like "Word" to describe God's active presence in the world, it avoided potential misunderstandings of a trinitarian nature. Bridging the Gap: The Memra served as a bridge between the transcendent God and the human world. It provided a way to understand how the infinite and unknowable God could interact with finite human beings. The concept of the Memra has had a significant influence on later Jewish and Christian thought, particularly in discussions about the nature of God and the divine Word. It is a fascinating aspect of Jewish tradition.

The main reason why there were (and still are) so many controversies about the "nature" of Jesus in the first centuries, which ultimately led to the controversial dogma of the Trinity, is the erroneous assumption that God exists completely alone. But since God cannot be an abstract cosmic "principle" as in Buddhism, astral religions or in Gnosticism and Cabalism, God is discribed as a (spiritual) living "person". So it`s very possible that there are also other spiritual "persons" around him. The biblical idea of spiritual beings alone, be they angels, demons, etc., suggests that. Rather, the supernatural sphere seems to be quite "populated", possibly even before the creation of the earth and humans. And don't people themselves believe that after their physical death they will be transformed into spiritual beings and hope for an eternal (spiritual) life? Of course, Jesus was/is not personally identical with this Creator God, as was misleadingly expressed in the doctrine of the Trinity. Rather, Jesus was or is, so to speak, the “crown prince” of God, i.e. a heavenly being beyond the angelic hierarchy. That's why Jesus can say that he already existed "before Adam, Noah, Abraham and Moses" and that after his death he will return to where the forefathers, prophets and saints are and sit "at the throne of God"! If you will, a kind of heavenly court, similar to the earthly kingdoms, for example in the time of David. This heavenly sphere knows neither space nor time, nor material conditions, just as spiritual beings can commute between the heavenly and earthly spheres. The true Messiah is a created timeless SPIRITUAL being, directly "intertwined" with God himself as a father is intimately connected with his son. This is what the term “of the same essence”, the "same substance” means, i.e. more concerning the divine descent and properties. Did God sacrifice his own son? Yes and no - only as far as the (temporary) earthly manifestation is concerned, the physical human body, but not the timeless spiritual being, which is immortal per se!

In john 17: 8, very clearly says that He, Jesus, came out of The Father. This statement, for me, says it all very specifically. And this statement had to be when He came into existence, and not when He was being sent to earth, for He was existing when He received His order from His Father, our only God . Another very important topic that nobody is talking about are about the three concil that took place in Nicaea, Constantinople and Laodicea, today , Turkey. In revelation 2, The Bible specifically says that Pergames is the place where the throne of satan dwelleth. All three concils took place in modern day Turkey. Doesn't that say it all, but nobody seems to know this. Wow Anyways, God bless you for having the Spirit of truth in you. Hope every Jews continue to love and obey the One and only God, our Father, while acknowledging Jesus as our savior.

Gracias.

His cult following invented his miraculous birth. Julius Caesar the ancient emperor of Rome also had a cult following. When he died, his cult gave him an exalted status of a god. The problem is with Christians is that they relied on Greek rather than the actual language of their Jesus. If they had presuved his teachings in his language then maybe they would have remained monothiests. Its like they used the language of the Greeks and eventually got lost in translation leading them to paganism. Sad thing is that they dont admit that the Trinity is pagan.

Greek was the language spoken by most people. Do you forget that Jerusalem was under the control of Rome?? Rome had already invaded Greece by the time Jerusalem was invaded (during Jesus's time). Nations impose languages and cultures. The New Testament wasn't the only historic text in Greek of that period, the Pharisees also had to write in Greek, Josephus writings are the living testimony.

As a kid (if you are the one on the picture) you are quite smart. You need to understand that God has a Son and thus his Son is divine. This is not paganism, this is Judaism at it's purest. Read Psalm 2:7, or Isaiah 53:10 in which God says that would see his seed and would prolong his days.

@@lek786 Have you heard about the Arm of the Lord? Mighty, righteous, rules for the Lord, just, bringing salvation and redemption? Well... Those are precisely the characteristics of the Messiah. The Arm of the Lord is in fact a person, referred to as the right hand also. Isaiah 53 describes him, read it again and you will understand. God said that would beget a Son in Psalm 2:7 and again in verse 10 of chapter 53 says that he has a seed (the word seed has always a biological connotation). This isn't paganism at all, this is Judaism 101. Jesus always said that he is ONE with the Father, that would sit at his right hand. Jesus is the rejected Jewish Messiah who will come to judge the earth. Languages don't determine whether or not nations are monotheistic. Israel (God's own people) have provoked the Lord to jealousy in multiple occasions.

Pagans are indeed also religious. But the pagan religion has also to have to have a certain rule as the certain anti belief as a natural opposite to the belief in God. In life we have matter and antimatter also light and darkness. There has always to be a balance between the two or it will come to a certain over lighting and over darkening. Surely the one God might be right the one evil might be right, but we always forget the between that cannot chose between the evil or the good and so we do have certain three states in life. If this is the holy trinity or something else - I think let there God decide.
