Had to do similar work where the impeller tossed debris at the top of my TracVac housing. 47 years of faithful service will do that. Welded patch over weak spot and still in service today. TracVac made incredible equipment back in the day.

Good job. I'm a retired automotive technician and I do this type of work. I might have looked for a machine shop to cut down the shaft and taper but I understand your method. That out of balance wobble would worry me about early seal or crankshaft failures. I know it's a lower speed motor but vibration is a killer. Good luck.

I have one of these..Agrifab..with the Briggs engine that had the plastic timing gear that fails at low hours..ended up buying a complete new crankshaft to put in the Briggs to get mine running again

I have an Argri-Fab similar to this one but the impeller housing is much more stout and is welded together and doesn't come apart. The engine is mounted 90 degrees to this one with the shaft running parallel to the length of the unit and the suction opening facing the mower pulling it. My engine has been giving me so much trouble over the last few seasons that I've decided to opt for a new Predator engine like you have. My question is how did you get the old impeller off of the original engine? Other brands have a larger threaded hole for the shaft bolt that effectively becomes a puller when a bolt of that larger size has a extended section of smaller diameter that pushes against the back of the hole in the shaft to push the impeller off. My Agrifab impeller does not have this feature. I am waiting to get this off before getting a new engine because I want to verify the shaft type and dimensions so I can match those in a new powerplant. Any help is appreciated.

Sometimes, the propeller will not come off without heat lots of it. And sometimes they just pound right off. I've done a few this one. Didn't give me any problems. However, I've had problems in the past, and it is a major Royal pain in the butt. Put all the empowers should come off over the shaft, just like you're thinking

Agrifab uses a special removal tool for the impeller just an fyi and it not expensive at all.

@@darekj4618 Thanks. I have an older unit that doesn't have the threads inside the impeller hole and that tool is made for newer models that do. I was able to remove the impeller with heat and persuasion and the Predator engine fit with few modifications like a shaft sleeve and some washers to space the housing the proper distance from the impeller.

I'm in the exact same boat with my agri-fab (with the chipper). Found a tapered adapter off ebay for the Predator and it seems to do exactly what you did with the flap wheel. The question is, how is it holding up? I'm seeing a pretty decent amount of bend from MY new agri flop impeller as well so I shut it down pretty quick. That's how I found your video actually.

I've had no problems with mine, this is 2nd leaf season and it's running great.

Do you have a link for the adapter? This predator swap isn’t going as planned 😂.
