We first saw TOP in Cleveland Ohio at the Agora when they just released East Bay grease. No one knew them, there were maybe 20 people in the audience. The next time they came back to Cleveland you couldn't get into the club. One of the greatest groups of all time and should be in the Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame. They are real musicians and have "Soul with a capital S." 🎼🥁🎷🎺🎲

Now, the funkiest song ever written " Thank You(Falletnme be mice elf agin)" Sly & Family Stone. I know you reacted to Dance to a the Music but this was when bassist Larry Graham literally invented the slap bass. Intersting because both Sly and Tower of Power both from the Bay Area. Both had groundbreaking bassist with very different styles , though Sly came first and heavily influenced Tower.

Incredible song and sound. The "Tower of Power Horn Section" would play in concert with other bands, and you knew it was a 'must-see' concert if they were there. I saw them with Huey Lewis and the News once, and even though they hard horns in their band, these guys kicked the whole sound and concert up two notches. Someday you should check out HL&N, I think you'll enjoy their fun sound. More TofP!! Thanks for this reaction.

Growing up in the San Francisco Bay Area, I remember seeing a lot of Tower of Power from Oakland - local boys. And one show in particular seeing Tower of Power and Santana along with another band or two playing at Filmore West. Back then you could see these bands for about $3.00 and they would play sometimes until 3 or 4 am in the morning - this would have been late 60s and early 70s. Tower of Power horn section was/is incredible as was the drummer Dave Garibaldi.

In the early '90s I worked as chief cook & bottlewasher at a small bar & grill in Walnut Creek, California, that had live music every night and a lot of big names coming through, often creating impromptu assemblages better than anything on big stages. Sometimes the Tower of Power horn section would pop in and ask to sit in with whatever band was playing, and they were always obliged.

The original Tower of Power was as funky as the JB`S AND ANY OTHER SOUL BAND, to this day, though most of the original members left or passed on, the band today is as strong as its ever been. I have been a fan since 1969,, because I was a working musician i didn`t get a chance to see them live until the early 80`s, but I can`t even count how many shows i`ve been to, and never once did I come away disappointed. Emillio Castillo and Steve Doc Kupka are the only two ordinals left and have written most of the tunes, Musicians love this band and anyone who loves soul and funk will too. Do not miss a chance to see them , i just saw then Monday night in Camden NJ , AND THEY BLEW EVERYONE AWAY.

Saw this band in the early 70's at Lamar University, Beaumont Texas. This was back when all the bands would make the college circuit throughout the country. They featured an great horn section with fantastic sax players Lenny Pickett and the Funky Doctor.

Another fave from T.O.P. is "You're Still a Young Man." It's more of a slow song though. Another upbeat one is "Down To the Nightclub," or "Squib Cakes."

Saw T of P mid 70's in Toronto. Omg, if they didn't get you dancing in the aisles, nothing would! Must watch a live video Chod and keep your eye on Lenny Pickett (sax).......he'll get you smiling and Lenny Williams wonderful voice......love it!
