I have an 05' 2500 Dodge Ram Cummins. I own a 350 John Deere track loader with a clam bucket. Do you think it's possible to haul my loader with my truck? The Loader weighs like 13,000 lbs. I have a huge pintle hook on it. I guess a 7 ton trailer would work well.

20.6k I see for 2020 D3 (Maybe that's with closed cab?. We have f350s/f550s in our fleet at work, my old daily hauler was an f350 SRW. Now I run a 2018 ram 3500DRW. I've had two JD 323E's on the gooseneck (about 21k before trailer) and not only does it plug along happily but the technology they put in these Rams to stop are just unparalleled. Sometimes I have to put my foot in the brake just because I want the vehicle behind me to see my lights 😂😂 otherwise tap the brakes and let the engine do the rest. Gotta figure you treat that transmission like you would your mother and you got the best daily hauler you could ask for. Sweet truck man, good vid. Got a sub from me 👍

Did you ever figure the weight rating on your truck and trailer tires to make sure they are capable of your 54k apportion tags. Just curios. I’ve have a 5500 and 35, 40 k Dimond C. I went 44k
@IManOPERATOR3 жыл бұрын
I can max out my truck at a total of 43k GCWR With the tires I currently have however when I go to 19.5 wheels I’ll have another 4k rating on the rear axle and 2k more on the front which would put me over the 44 tag, and the $100 more that is cost for a 54 tag was better then having a 2k over weight fine just to play it safe. I doubt I’ll ever be loaded up that heavy however make things comfortable on the road and though scales.

I hate how the exhaust brake won’t come on in 1st gear. That load would be a perfect example. Go down a steep windy road that you have to keep it slow, you’ll have to ride the brakes the entire time. No good.
@IManOPERATOR3 жыл бұрын
First gear doesn’t lock up on these transmissions. Sometimes I wish it did but it would put tons of stress on the transmission with a first gear lock up. 2nd gear locked runs the exhaust brake down to 10mph which has been nearly perfect for me. And I’ve gone down quite a few steep grades before.
@mikemiller91193 жыл бұрын
@@IManOPERATOR yes, steep grades are one thing, windy is another. We have a road that’s a 26% grade and is very windy. Had to put it in four low, lock hubs, and manually shift to first to keep my 99 F350 slow enough to be nice and safe with my 28k load. One thing is, my F350 had a banks exhaust brake and by taking all those steps to keep it slow, it handled it like a champ. Did the same road with my 2020 Ram 3500 and had to ride the brakes all the way down. Yes, the brakes we nice and soft by the time I got to the bottom. This is how I learned the exhaust brake doesn’t work in 1st or 4x4. Now, my F350 was over 20 years old at that time. I’m sure the engineers can figure out how to get the torque converter to be locked while using the exhaust brake.
@IManOPERATOR3 жыл бұрын
@@mikemiller9119 dang! Ya that’s a steep one. I have one grade around my parts it’s a 9% and 5-10 mph turns about 8-9 of them with in 2.5 miles.
