This week we are turning a regular dinosaur toy into a Miniature Drake using green stuff. This is a great tutorial for those just starting to use green stuff. As a matter of fact, this was my first time using this stuff. There are some great things and qualities of green stuff that you aren't able to get with air dry clay. Thank you so much and i hope you enjoy the build. Have a Crafty Thursday!

I've been hesitant to work with Green Stuff because of the expense, but after seeing here how much better it is than DAS for mini sculpts and mods, I'm getting some next week to clean up my giant rat-ladies. Cheers to another awesome video!

Death By Pupper Mixes yea the price on the material is definitely its down side. The strip I got, I got off line. I think it was 15 US dollars on amazon. I would use it in smalls amounts.

That's actually something I believe I needed to hear today. I haven't painted or built much of anything lately. For the past few months or so, anytime I find a sale for anything useful I have been buying it. Kept telling myself I'll save it for that special build because I don't just want to use up everything I have just building the first thing I make. Well this has lead me to where I don't build much of anything at all anymore. I even invested in a Resin and an FDM printer, just so I could print some things to add to my diorama's. I print miniatures and other stuff constantly but still haven't used any of it. Nothing special will come along for me to use stuff in if I don't bother building anything at all. Time to change that and get back to it.

Wow, that came out great! You're right about learning by doing. I like the way you teach as you go. It was cool watching you get the rope texture on the green stuff just by twisting it. Sometimes seeing it done is better than hearing about it. But the tips you gave were also very effective because they were based on your actual experience. Thanks for another great video.

Dude, this reminded me of old He-Man action figures... kind of a Battle Cat vibe... you should get a few of those masters of the wwe universe guys and make some custom figures in your style as if you were designing some original 1980s barbarian warrior toy line... of course complete with armored dinosaur mounts!

Absolutely epic customisation! Gonna keep my eyes open for some half decent (and cheap!) dinosaur toys. I think a good way to avoid drooping like you got with the horns is to sculpt some pieces around metal armatures - either wire or bits of bent paperclip. A trick I learnt from my own experimentation with greenstuff, if you need to roll out thin strips a good way is to use a metal ruler wrapped in greaseproof paper as a rolling pin and roll the greenstuff out on some more greaseproof paper. Doesn't stick at all.

@@FrankyDCrafter I look forward to seeing more green stuff creations! I am also in complete agreement about letting the green stuff cure for a while before sculpting. I used a combination of years old green stuff and some new green stuff on my last sculpt - and I found the older stuff was a lot easier to work with (if you manage to get it mixed thoroughly and remove all the lumps!). Just a matter of having the patience to let the fresh stuff cure :)

Looks great I think he looks better without the shields. Perhaps armor with leather straps would look Really cool on him. Jeremy at Black Magic Crafts had a vid on these little plates you roll the tiny snakes of green stuff between. They made really cool things like cables tentacles hoses really easy and they looked great. Might want to check them out for more adventures with green stuff.

Keep the shields on the back for the rider. The dinosaur isn't going to know what to do with them. Maybe put like some bracelet armor. Like a gauntlet. Then you could increase the claws.

If wasting paint was a major issue, then Leonardo Da Vinci would not have made the Mona Lisa after starting a different painting on the same canvas. (I saw a video where there has been an x-ray done that shows evidence of a different, unfinished, painting was done early on before it was painted over).

Awesome build, man! Ended up looking great! :D Been considering getting some of that green stuff myself. I have tried Milliput - any idea how it compares? As for the shields, I think they subtract from the build. They kind of feel like they don't belong, to me. Maybe if they were more like kite shields, that extended backwards, making it able to protect more of its sides? I don't know. That's my two cents on that, at least. ;)

The Creative Kobold it’s good to hear actually. I might remake them. The good thing is that they are detachable. I feel that if I had glued it, I would have regretted it in the long run. I have to try milliput and test it out as well.

Franky D. Crafter I like it, it’s cheaper.. that’s the biggest plus. But I know this about milliput. It may apply to green stuff. I mix my two parts then I thoroughly clean my hands. I notice it wants to stick to the residue on my fingers and tools. Try that next time (if you didn’t) along with the water. I notice cleaning the residue really keeps it off me while I’m sculpting.
