Matt - Thank you for the very informative and detailed videos. I used your videos to remove my timing belt cover from my 2006 Toyota Tacoma. I purchased new valve cover gaskets, spark plugs, water pump, thermostat, lower oil pan gasket, and miscellaneous other stuff. Dealer wanted $2,000. I ended up spending about $130 (plus my labor). Worked like a charm. You are the man! Thanks again.

Thank you so much for these videos. They are the best tutorial on KZbin by far. I wondered how the work is holding up if you still had the vehicle? Thanks!

I just realized I’m having this exact problem on my 5th gen 4runner. I’ll tackle it after all the holidays. Thanks for the video

This is the most in depth video I've ever seen and I appreciate you greatly for it! Just got a quote from the dealer for this and will be undertaking this one on my own. Looks pretty self explanatory, just worried about all those hose brackets and electrical connections! Thanks again!

Very informative videos indeed. Serious question: what are the torque spec for all these bolts, and where to find this information?

A few key things. Buy your seals before you start! Oil seal between housing and block, oil seal between housing and oil pan, oil seal under filter housing. Need new water pump seal. Need a new crankshaft to pull seal.

Do you know the part #s for the filter housing seal, the water pump seal, and the crankshaft seal? I bought 2 seals for the oil pan and for the housing and block

What other things do you recommend going ahead and replacing while doing this job as it seems to be a huge job!?

Have the same issue on my 2006 tacoma. Started at about 90,000 miles. I now have 255,000 on it. The leak never hits the ground and from what I can tell only leaks when running. Never have had to add more that a 1/4 of a quart between 5,000 mile oil changes.

Hows it holding up? I have the same issue

My 4.0L Tacoma has had this leak for about 6 years! I've seen some people successfully sealing it from the outside after cleaning all the crud up.

I've only ever changed my own oil and other small repairs of similar difficulty. How bad is it if I put this one off? The Toyota dealer diagnosed and wants like $1400 which I can't swing right away, but is this something I can live with for a while or something that will only get worse and lead to more problems? Thanks

taking any road trips soon? do lot of city driving? it will get worse and become a greasy oily pig after awhile.

Fuk, I have the same issue right now. Toyota dealer wants $3500 to do it. Hell no.

That's a lot. It's like 300 in parts. Killing us in labor. You can do it yourself but its gonna be a bitch and take time. Torque wrench is a must and 100% organization

I think I'm having this issue on my 05 Tacoma, which only has 63000 miles. Do you have a rough idea about cost range if paying a mechanic to do this job?
