This is an awesome video! Very clear instructions, and everything worked perfectly, just as explained. I lost my only remote to my 2005 4Runner a week ago, called our local dealership, and they said it would be around $100 for ONE remote and to program it. I found 2 online for $23.00, had them in my hands within 3 days, and followed the instructions in this video. I had both remotes programmed in less than 4 minutes. Fantastic. Thanks again!

I followed the instructions and the remote worked when I pressed one of the buttons. Seconds after it didn't work anymore..thoughts? With the multiple attempts I believe I have now put the remote in Add, Rewrite, and Confirmation modes. What do you recommend doing now? Thanks!!

Followed your video and the only issue im having here is the car only alloeing me to program 1 remote and everytime i try to program the 2nd one, the first one stops working. Any idea why? And thsnk you slot for the clear instructions!!!

That is very unusual for the Toyota systems... If you still aren't having any luck, you can try rebooting the keyless system by doing an electrical reset on the vehicle. To do this you would simply disconnect one of the car's battery cables for about 15-20 minutes, reconnect and then try the programming again. Sometimes this will solve any 'bugs' that may be keeping the remotes from programming.

I cant get this to work on my 2002 4Runner. I've tried this method and the other method on the internet that says to unlock/lock 5 times and so forth. I've tried about 20 times and no luck getting into the program mode. I lost the original remote and bought a replacement but cant program it. Any suggestions?

+Gareth Nash The first thing you need to find out is if you have the "dealer" installed unit for the "factory" installed unit. Easiest way to tell is to look at the remote... if there is a little light on the remote that lights up when you push the buttons.. that is the dealer installed unit. If you had something slightly different before the opposite one will NOT work. If you are not sure... call the dealer with your VIN number and ask for the part number of the remote you need. If they say dealer installed or port installed it should match these numbers: Current Toyota Part Number: 08191-00922, FCC ID on the back of your remote BAB237131-056. If the car will not go into Programming mode at all.. try this: you can try rebooting the keyless system by doing an electrical reset on the vehicle.To do this you would simply disconnect one of the car's battery cables for about 15-20 minutes, reconnect and then try the programming again.Sometimes this will solve any 'bugs' that may be keeping the remote from programming.Also... this video programming method is for the 'factory' installed system only. It will not work with the dealer system. If all parts of remote and vehicle are operational, this procedure should program all of them at once. It may be optional on your vehicle. Check with your local dealer. If equipped with all features, you may need to have the connections checked by a mechanic. Or, possibly that button is not working on the remote. You can have it tested at a local auto parts store.

When going through the programming procedure... when you get to the part where you cycle the key ON/OFF.. be sure to cycle the key twice (ON/OFF, ON/OFF) and then remove the key. This will engage rewrite mode. If will only allow programming for the remotes that are there with you. All others will become inactive.
