Different regions, different preferences 1. Brits and Europeans who focus more on sportiness, driving dynamics, precision, attention to detail on a car's quality and use of use of its tech. 2. Larger countries like US, Canada Australia, focus on relaxed cruising,long lasting reliable larger cars and SUVs driving neverending miles. 3. For the fast growing billions in south Asia, Middle east and Africa "Reliability" is foremost n paramount and the love of high clearance SUVs across the regions due to broken roads, potholes and torn infrastructure. This region is least interested in two seater, small nippy cars.

Well that is IF you are looking for a car that lasts you for so long. At least as it stands now, 4-6 years is good enough for me (I lease). And in those years I want something that is really good in the short term. Because often, at least in my experience most Toyotas feel less impressive when new than many other cars. Probably because you pay a lot for the Hybrid system and the reliability, but to keep the price low, they usually save money on stuff like interior quality and tech. Besides that, I have driven the new Corolla and It is exactly as Matt says about many Toyotas: Good quality for some parts and bad/questionable quality on others. The Dash and the seats feel really HQ but everything else feels cheaper than a e.g. Ford Focus, Mazda 3 and VW Golf. Also the sound proofing was even worse than on a VW Polo. Not Wind noise but just general sound from road and other vehicles.

It is very interesting how different markets react to different car models. Here Opel Insignia and Ford Mondeo are seen as inferior when compared to Toyota Camry. For the same price you can get VW Passat with a funny 120 hp or Insignia with a 1.5 gasoline engine. The Skoda Superb is good but you can not compare it with the interior quality or engine power of Toyota Camry. At the end of the day for 31,000 euros you get 2.5 hybrid engine, automatic transmission and a fairly good amount of equipment.

In Australia where I live, these are very common as taxis. Taxi companies get the base model with the hybrid powertrain.
@theytwatcher9504 жыл бұрын
@@adelaideautowashes Largely these are replacing the leftover Ford Falcons and Holdens and older XV40 taxicabs. However, they are adopting to having a fully hybrid fleet with Toyota Prius v (Prius + in Europe) to replace the aging Falcon BF wagons. Often while the transition to Toyota had been successful as the previous generation models were produced in Australia before the idea to shut down the factory and relocate it to overseas. Unfortunately, Holden did not have great reception when they transitioned to European + American rebadges. In relation to your question about the XV70 Camry, you are correct, as mentioned Australian taxis are largely using hybrid powertrains due to their fuel consumption reduction, however at the same time, taxi operators are opting to use their own cars, so you may be surprised to see non-Camry models. Keep an eye out for weird vehicles such as Kia Sorentos, Toyota Corolla, Audi A6 etc. Taxis are endless options !!

Best Camry for me is the 2010 model, marketed here in Australia as the Toyota Aurion with a 3.5L V6 pumping out 200kw (or 204kw with 95RON). The only exterior modification I made was to purchase 2nd hand Toyota Kluger wheels off eBay and fit it on the car with 235/35R19 rubber. I also have an ML550 which has 285kw and 4matic. Of course the Merc gets off the line quick but once you are rolling, I do believe the Aurion/Camry does pull harder. It is no slouch! I switched the head unit for one of those Android 9-inch head units and I stuck a sim card in it so that it's always connected. Runs Google Maps, KZbin Music and voice navigation better than any standard car input system I've experienced.

What was the point of this review? Comparing a Camry to a Passat or an Insignia is no comparison at all. the Camry is going to outlast both cars with lower running costs and great resale value without even trying too hard. Everyone knows this. The basic nature of a Toyota interior (fortunately or unfortunately ) ends up being it's strength in long term ownership.

The last Toyota Camry sold in the UK had appalling resale value. One of the worse resale values of any car. The fact we haven't had Camry for 15 years shows how little the UK market think of them.
