I have a 2019 C-HR Limited and Entune Plus. It was recommended to get an iPhone in order to experience the best audio sound, navigation and CARPLAY! We had Samsung Galaxy Note 8 units and frustrated that you needed to use a USB cable to get the full functionality of the navigation maps. The dealer said iPhone is the ONLY way to go which allows WIRELESS functionality of CAR PLAY. So we upgraded both phones early (wasn't cheap) to the iPhone XR MAX just to be able to enjoy our new car and CARPLAY wirelessly. WELL I AM SO FRUSTRATED!!! Our expensive swap to the iPhones still have us STRAPPED TO USING A USB CABLE at all times in orer for carplay to work. I was told the initial connection for setup requires a USB only once then from then on it will automatically connect to CARPLAY to the iPhone either mine or my spouse. I HAVE RIED THE SETUP about 20 different times, I have reset the iPhones and the Entune Head unit back to the Manufactuers default settings and reloaded the updates on the head unit TOP NO AVAIL. I still cannot get the iPhone to connect CARPLAY wirelessly!!! PLEASE HELP ME!!! Apple is clueless to the problem and Toyota dealership thinks im doing something wrong. DSO I NEED TO SCHEDULE MY CAR FOR SERVICE just to have them setup our new iphones to the Entune Plus to enjoy CARPLAY wirelessly ??????/ I can't figure it out and getting very upset and irritated with all of it. PLEASE HELP ME!

Toyota needs to offer an over the air update to add Android Auto, or at least the ability to use Google Maps, to all Toyota owners with Entune. Using Scout is like going back to the days of Windows 98. It's a good decade behind Google Maps. If Toyota doesn't catch up with the competition regarding Android Auto, my next car will likely be a Honda.

I personally couldn't care less about android play or - even more so - i-stuff, and I don't understand why people would make a car buying choice based on infotainment... no matter how bad it may be. It's better to get to your destination with substandard stereo than be sitting in a jeep on the side of the road listening to equally crappy stereo.

Today I called Entune customer support to ask, Why in the I Hart Radio App I am not able to see the artist playing the song only shows a square with the I Hart Radio Emblem, That looks very cheap, The answer they gave me was that when you are driving that would be a distraction for the driver that that is a safety feature. Now, I want to know if you choose to change station. How that will not be a distraction to the driver? We owners know how tricky it is to change stations with that touch display, the car has decent power for 4cyl. and nice looks but for entertainment that Entune 3.0 is pure Garbage to the 100 power, the programming management for the updates should be someone that has the fundamentals to make owners show that our decision we made to purchase the car came with quality control. The answer we can't see the one playing the music can't be seen only when park is a sloppy answer, What's next we will not be able to change station because is a distraction??? Safety feature they will say I hope someone reads this an understand what I am trying to state and help me understand why they think that is a safety feature....

Sadly, this is already outdated to the point of uselessness. Toyota has made some bizarre requirements that more or less preclude using multiple phone/driver setups and Android auto doesn't appear to work with it if you are using the latest version. Toyota had an opportunity to make something really cool and completely fucked it away.

What this video fails to include is.... When you have your music device either plugged in to the USB port or attached via Bluetooth, your album artwork will disappear when vehicle is shifted in to drive. Thanks to the NHTSA they took the upper hand in suppressing this on your infotainment system. I just don't get it. The artwork doesn't move. It doesn't flash. It just sits there. Now you have to look at a stupid icon that represents the USB or your Bluetooth. My 2015 Rav4 had the artwork. But not my 2018 Camry SE. It is crap!!

Hello! Perhaps you can answer my question. I have a Camry hybrid xle 2018. I do have to say that not having an integrated gps has been sort of a big disappointment for me. Given that my old hybrid Camry had it. Anyhow, is there a way to get a full 3D map to show when tethered to the phone. The instructions say you can but for the life of me, I can't figure it out. The system doesn't support something like a custom wallpaper, but you should be able to add your own start up and power off images like the old Entune system. Thanks for watching!

Toyota needs to update the 2017 prius head unit. Entune does not do anything useful. Also, I love the way the phone app asks tells you that a number does not have a home number and only a mobile number and asks you to verify using the mobile number... when you said call the person... not at home.

It LOOKS nice. Unfortunately, it also looks like a carbon copy of the "premium" system that's in the higher end Avalon. Every firmware update made it operate worse than the version before it, so I'd take a real hard look at it before making the plunge. At least consider the possibility that you'll start looking for an after-market head unit after a few months. PS......I'm speaking from experience. 2015 Avalon Sport, Touring Edition.

When I purchase a new car, I usually own it for 7 to 10 years......Will I be able to upgrade to Dynamic Navigation (which seems much better)? Joe, it is free for 3 years IF and only if you can stand the ads that come with Scout GPS Link in the POI. Otherwise it is $ 5 per month now and might go up to not have annoying ads in POI.Also Joe it is free if you don't care if it does NOT WORK AT ALL in a dead data area for your cell phone carrier - and all carriers have dead cells Joe. This is because Joe Scout GPS Link told me they charge $ 5 per month to be able to DOWNLOAD MAPS so that it works in a dead data area from your carrier. I suggest you do as I did and download Scout GPS Link and use it on Android. I did. It locked-up and quit working and I live in Atlanta.Yes Dynamic Navigation is MUCH BETTER. But unless you buy 6 cylinder Camry you can not add it as a $ 940 option. No Camry Hybrid and no Camry 4 cylinder on ANY 2018 Camry can have NAV. NAV works even when there is no data from your carrier Joe. It updates the maps when you get within 4 miles of an area where updates are needed. This is the Toyota DCM.Scout GPS Link got 1 and a half stars from Camry owners such as myself thousands of us voting Joe. I am sorry to hear that Joe. I have tried since July 5 to advertise this fact to all of we Camry owners so we all would know Joe. It's bad. It's really bad. I realize no one studies their owner's manual and I read this one July 5 on the dealer lot. He left his one J car unlocked and I spent the night reading it and figuring all this out then Joe. I find the Entune junk Joe to be a deal breaker. I have told Toyota this and frankly Joe EVERYONE at Toyota agrees with me. But they have NOT DONE A DAMN THING to fix it. all this shit is great....when it works. Yesterday I bought a new 2019 toyota tacoma pickup with entune. Can't set the clock...the weather app isn't working and neither is the navigation app. The icons of the clock are grayed out and it isn't downloading the time from the satellite and It will not let me manually set the time. The weather app and the navigation app will download (or it says it is downloading) the data but will not go to the weather or navigation screen. Second day and I already have an appointment to take it to the service dept of my local toyota dealer.

I kind of doubt this POS was made by Toyota. Most likely they farmed it out to someone like Pioneer, etc. I used to work at a Pioneer radio plant and they manufactured radios for BMW and Range Rover as well as their own aftermarket radios. Regardless of who manufactured it, Toyota's name is on it and it's up to them to make sure it works correctly.

Scout sucks, I read some bad reviews, tried it, the routes it was giving me were total crap making a drive 5 times longer than it needed to be. Compared the same drive to Google Maps and Waze and got what I expected the route would be and time (in case there was an accident or something). The scout map had me avoiding the freeway for some reason (which would be 90+% of the drive) while Google reported no issue on freeway. This is in Southern California, Orange County. Not acceptable for a map service to be garbage in such a big metro market. Scout is beta quality at best. I don't even think Google Maps when it was tagged with beta was this bad. Bottom line is I bought my new car because it's a good car, no regrets. Just wish the head unit/technology wasn't behind the trend. I'll bet money that Toyota wants Apple and Google to pay them access to their customers. They want to be paid to put those features in the head units. There's no technical reason why they don't, or can't just push an update to add it. I think customers need to be vocal on what they think of Entune 3.0/Scout and that they want Android Auto and Car Play.

I'm having trouble finding definitive information on this stuff. We just bought a 2017 Toyota Sienna with the connected Scout GPS. I don't recall anyone saying anything about it eventually costing money. Was I mislead? Also I can't figure out how to determine what software is on our head unit. Is the software something I can upgrade myself by downloading updates to USB or is this a service cash grab that requires a paid service visit? What should be on my head unit? I don't recall anything about "Entune" on any splash screen or sub menu when I went looking for software/software update details? Is there a definitive place to get this info? I'm just about due for our 10k mile service and I'm apprehensive to ask these questions as I'm fearful I'm going to end up with some software charge on what's supposed to be our included 10k mile maintenance.

The USB port on my 2018 Camry only works for Entune 3.0.APP Suite. I can't connect my Galaxy S10+ using the USB port, but you can connect iPhone. WHY. Makes no sense

I can not buy a 2018 Camry because I will not buy a 6 cylinder and you must have a 6 cylinder to buy embedded NAV GPS. There is a POS called Scout GPS Link which non 6 cylinder 2018 Camry can have. So 4 cylinder 2018 Camry or 2018 Camry Hybrid can have Scout GPS Link. This app or any app on any cell phone will NOT WORK if the data from your carrier is LOST. Data is dropped by all carriers. The NAV Scout GPS Link quits working and shuts down. Scout GPS Link only displays on the head unit of the 2018 Camry - the radio - the infotainment center display ONLY. The head-up display works with the embedded NAV but NOT Scout GPS Link. The additional display on the dashboard between the 2018 Camry speedometer and tachometer either 4.2 inch or 7 inch does NOT work with the Scout GPS Link either but again does work with the embedded NAV on the 2018 Camry. But again to order the embedded NAV on the 2018 Camry you must ONLY order a 6 cylinder 2018 Camry - no 2018 Camry Hybrid and no 2018 Camry 4 cylinder can have the embedded NAV. What does all this mean ? Well it means that 2018 Camry only has one vehicle which supports navigation and that is ONLY the 6 cylinder. And it means that the 2018 Accord only has Turbo Engines which Autotrader states as FACT is going to FAIL in the life of the vehicle. The 2018 Accord also has NO MODEL which has the panoramic view bird’s eye camera. Forty Thousand Dollars and this is what we have 2018. Good job Toyota. Good job Honda. No thank you.

I absolutely hate the entune system in my 2017 Highlander. It's 2018, why do I have to go through so many menus and buttons to do anything? The whole thing is unintuitive and cumbersome. I would never buy another Toyota just because of the entune!

I am planning to sell entune on ebay (it sells for $1,500) and install a great aftermarket stereo for around $500. I agree - entune is garbage but nothing comes close to Toyota in all other areas. My 2004 4Runner came with tape player. No kidding. My 2018 - with CD player. Again, no kidding. Thank God it has bluetooth and USB!

@@vickihollaway5595 I ended up installing Pioneer 1400NEX (www.crutchfield.com/p_1301400NEX/Pioneer-MVH-1400NEX.html?skipvs=T). I got it from Crutchfield - they are a bit more expensive than ebay but they have great customer service that I actually needed it. First, I ordered Pioneer 300 which turned out to be garbage. They sent me another one but it had the same problem - memory reset on every start up. Finally, I upgraded to 1400, and it works GREAT! On Crutchfield's site, you can choose whatever installation gear is needed for your vehicle - wiring, faceplate, steering control module, etc. No, I don't work for them - I am just a happy customer. In any case, you can buy virtually any aftermarket stereo, new faceplate, wiring, and make it work. One note: I was unable to sell entune - nobody wanted it on ebay even for $100 so I ended up donating it to Goodwill. Good luck!

How/where can I see what the version release is what I have in my new 2018 Highlander Hybrid XLE? (I don't mean just that it's 3.0, but what is the software release number?) Have had car only 1 month, and there are crashes with the system periodically. Dealer said bring in, but I would like to know what release it is if possible.

You can just go into setup -> general -> scroll down to software information. You should find the software version there. By the way, the 2018 Highlander does not have Entune 3.0, it an older version. Thanks for watching!

i bought a 2018 sienna worst mistake of my life, i was told by the dealer i could remove the entune and replace it with an after market gps but toyota changed the wiring on the 2018 sienna and carolla, there is no way to replace this garbage entune, its a year later and there still is no aftermarket solution

Toyota 2019 and the Audio/Video system is still years behind other manufacturers. This system does not support Android Video link. Getting movies and games from Phone to A/V in vehicle should be standard much like Screen Mirroring on TV's. Extremely disappointed in Toyota's Audio/Video. Still lugging around cases of DVD's and SD Cards... No One at the Toyota Dealer even knew how to use the Toyota Entune system.

Let's make it straight - I have five Toyotas at the moment ranging from 1991 to 2018, and I am truly convinced that nothing - even Honda - comes even close. Except stereo. My 2004 4Runner came with tape player. No shit! 2018 4Runner came with CD (not even DVD - CD!) player. Again, no shit. I don't use CD (or DVD for that matter) so I could live with this ridiculous dinosaur if the entire entune thing was not such a huge pile of crap. For starters, you can't really play audio files (USB in my case) longer than 60 minutes. After that, it keeps playing but the counter is totally confused. Second, if you shut the engine off, next time it's powered, it starts playing from a beginning of a random file. I drive long distances and listen to audio books, files can be hours long. So every time you start the engine, you not only have to browse to the file you were listening to (and to make your life even more miserable, the file names are not shown, some weird numbers are) AND rewind to the place your left off. And finally, what Toyota deems "FAST" forward is 16 times faster than playback. Do your own frickin' Math how long you need to keep pushing the damn button to get to the 3 hr location within the file. Solution? I through the damn thing out and installed a nice AM Pioneer for $150. To be fair, prior to donating entune to Goodwill, I tried to sell it on ebay. I figured that since the stealer wanted $4,100 (yes, FOUR THOUSAND ONE HUNDRED AMERICAN DOLLARS!) for POS, I should be able to sell it for a couple hundred to cover replacement. No such luck. Now, let me re-iterate - I do not regret buying a Toyota for a split second despite this awfully ridiculous artifact aka "entune infortainment center".

In my previous vehicle I listened through the Bluetooth connection between iPhone and stereo. It begins where I left off because I have to hit play on the phone. Will this be the same in the Toyota or more like your experience? Any help appreciated.

Yes, there is - just buy a stand-alone unit for about $100. It's much more convenient, can be transferred to another vehicle, does not interfere with stock head functions, comes with free lifetime map updates. And if it takes a dirt nap, just get another one for $100 rather than the entire "infotainment" for $4k.

Looks like everyone agrees - entune is junk. CD player in 2018 is just like tape player in 2004 (yes, my previous 4Runner came with tape player!). But why struggle - for less than $500, I am installing a great aftermarket unit while new entune thing sells on ebay for nearly $1,500. Look at it as a great business opportunity... that did not materialize for me - nobody wanted piece of crap even for $100 so I ended up donating it to Goodwill.

It's possible that fraud and/or chevy have better stereo. Simply because it's hard to imagine anything more horrible than entune. But replacing a factory stereo beats the hell of replacing engine, transmission, drivetrain like fraud or chevy would require to make them usable.

The 2013 Highlander Entune does not allow you to make changes to the navigation system when the vehicle is in motion . Does the 2018 version allow the driver to make changes while to vehicle is in motion?

I didn't try it out, but almost all automakers disable navigation inputs while in motion. To do that you have to use voice commands instead.

I'm so frustrated with car companies crapping the bed on their infotainment systems. Why is this thing so damn ugly?! Why can't they make it look nicer, like Android Auto or Apple CarPlay (both look SO much nicer). I have a 2013 Honda Accord and this system looks like they've made no progress on design and UX than my car that is 5 years older. It's a shame.

Scout GPS Link - go read reviews - rank it 1 ½ stars. If you try to use your cell phone to enter info because it is so hard to on infotainment center touchscreen, it does not recognize. Horribly slow, in MANY cases it doesn’t work AT ALL because every carrier has dead spots. If you purchase a 2018 Camry with just one USB plug then you must use that plug to plug in the Scout GPS Link app on your cell phone for you to have moving maps. If you want restaurants, other POI, and gas prices then all that adds EVEN MORE data to your data usage. The bottom line is that despite the fact that you can run Scout GPS Link on your cell phone if the carrier has a dead cell where you go, Scout GPS Link quits working, locks-up, and freezes completely. It’s simply awful. I downloaded it and it was 70 mb. Other apps such as Apple iPhone CarPlay and Android Auto and Google Maps all have their PROBLEMS too. CarPlay is a total joke and does not even operate on any 2018 Camry. Android Auto which is Google Maps also does not work on any 2018 Camry. Android Auto uses 2 GB data a week just driving to and from work so if you like me also have to drive to customer sites you can use up 6 GB T-Mobile “unlimited” plan in a week. This is due to pop-up and related apps which are subordinate to but accessible through Android Auto. It does a lot but it eats data. Don’t be fooled it does not. If you use Google Maps to go 5 miles and send two outgoing texts and receive 5 data usage from Android Auto is 238MB which is 10 GB for a month based only on that short usage of the app. Just because you CAN run an app does not mean you should. Traffic should always be provided by HD radio not a cell phone app. Weather too. Pandora. Podcast Addict. Tuneln. Streaming. KZbin. Spotify. These are just some of the 50 apps that work with Android Auto and why folks love Android Auto. Just get ready for slow unworkable NAV as carrier cuts back your speed. Driving 5 miles using ONLY Maps and two incoming/outgoing texts it used 370mb. You do NOT need data on a cell phone to have fully functional navigation which I can do without the cell phone turned on with my Camry embedded NAV on both my 2013 Camry XLE Hybrid and my 2016 XLE 4 cylinder. Android Auto does not have speed limit which a $29 Garmin has and that is a big deal. It is also a big deal that the Android Auto uses up all my data usage each month. I have it and I plug it into my Camry and it uses more battery as well than it recharges. And it looks like a 6 year old kid did the graphics on Android Auto. Obviously Google does not consider an app on your cell phone as viable long term to replace a dedicated onboard processor of a manufacturer embedded integrated with all its features like head up display navigation. Camry updates with DCM data communication module so NAV is always up-to-date on 2018 Camry with the DCM for embedded NAV. But even if CarPlay or Android Auto worked on a 2018 Camry, the problems are still so devastating that you would NEVER run either anyway because the interface to the graphic displays in the 2018 Camry would be limited to just only the stupid infotainment head unit screen way over by the passenger where it is a distraction for the driver to even try to look at - a display which is either 7 inches or can be upgraded to 8 inches on the 2018 Camry. And think again if you think can mount your cell phone in front of the driver and use that because if you try the 2018 Camry will NOT RECOGNIZE the entry. Further the ten inch head up display portion of the Driver’s Assist Package for $1675 which also includes the Bird’s Eye View panoramic camera system for backing-up and for while you are driving views does NOT INTEGRATE with Scout GPS Link at all. In between the odometer and tachometer on your dashboard also where the driver can actually see it while driving, there is a third display which is either 7 inches or 4.2 inches which ALSO does NOT INTEGRATE with the Scout GPS Link at all. NO you can NOT change the head unit once you buy one with the one you WISH you had bought. They tell you it is FREE but you are STUCK with it on a forty thousand dollar 2018 Camry making it a $40000 decision then, isn’t it? When I am driving 55 mph and am LOST the last I expect is that Scout GPS Link would be SLOW or NOT WORK AT ALL. You can program the 2018 Camry to show you on the head up display an elapsed timer gadget, the name of the next street coming-up at the next intersection and the speed limit on every street in the U.S., Canada and Mexico - but ONLY if you buy the embedded Navigation called Entune Premium - otherwise described as the dynamic integrated NAV which costs $940 option but is ONLY available if you buy a 6 cylinder gas engine on ANY 2018 Camry. Those owners make-up 5 percent of all Camry owners - five percent of all Camry are 6 cylinder but ONLY they can even add the $940 real NAV. Let me start with the basic premise that at some time in the life of the 2018 Camry that the owner will be LOST and that then Entune 3.0 would have to deliver. Why NOT say in PLAIN ENGLISH Toyota that if you don’t want 301 horsepower and only 32 mpg and want 41 mpg highway or 53 mpg highway that you CAN NOT SPECIAL ORDER even your $940 Entune Premium embedded dynamic integrated NAV which works wherever you are and is updated automatically. Apple CarPlay is not really useful for navigation. CarPlay doesn't support Google Maps and Apple Maps is really not up to the standard: hard to use, slow response and misinformation. I have CarPlay and have used CarPlay but it is a total JOKE. Android Auto allows use of Google Maps but unfortunately it uses a ton of data doing all the features of Google Maps. Listen to the latest advertisement by Verizon. “If you've already used 22GB on a particular line during your current billing cycle and you're on a cell site that is congested at that moment your download may be temporarily queued behind other Verizon Wireless customers which may result in slightly slower download speeds.” Scout GPS Link. I have downloaded it and seen it lock-up on me. I have had it just sit there too and do nothing. In addition every single time I have used it, it is slow. A car in 2018 without a viable NAV is so denuded as to end selling the car to me. The Scout GPS Link is a total abomination of a NAV which is NOT AT ALL LIKE HAVING the embedded 2018 Camry integrated dynamic NAV at $940 now is it Toyota ? In fact Toyota even updates your map when you get within 4 miles of an area through a device Toyota calls DCM which comes on their Entune Premium which is their embedded dynamic Navigation. The Scout GPS Link app should not be run on a cell phone unless you are planning on walking or airfare or public transit or all the above. Why ? Because if you are just driving there your cell phone is laboring doing a job that uses up cell data and requires data coverage or it shuts down. Got it ? There are other security reasons such as being hacked why you would not to run an app on your 99 dollar cell phone that contains where you are and when you will be there along with when you left. The 2018 Camry Brochure states on the inside of the back cover underneath the 43 disclosures that : “Toyota strives to build vehicles which match customer interest. If you prefer a vehicle with different options check for current availability or the possibility of placing a special order.” But you can’t special order Camry. You should rename your 2018 Camry Navigation System Owner’s Manual (OM06125U) as the “6 cylinder 2018 Camry option only manual.” A quarter of a million U.S. vehicles every month, 20 million worldwide annually, and a quarter of a trillion U.S. dollars revenue by 358 thousand employees and you pull this Toyota Motor Sales USA Inc. ? This is Toyota’s dirty little secret about all its 2018 Camry Hybrids and about all its 2018 Camry 4 cylinders which combined make up 95 % of all Camry sales. You are far better to use onboard embedded NAV in your car and the app when you are not in your Camry. They certainly compromise security since now you are making available your rate of speed on a cell phone easily looked at by interested parties. Interlocked apps with these type programs for NAV can also give away where you are and your estimated arrival at other known destinations as well. You have loaded apps to your cell phones and found you ran out of room. Autotrader states : “Turbo engines often fail during the life of each such car.” So why would Honda manufacture such an idiotic line-up of Accords 2018 that all are Turbos ? Then there is Toyota with their Camry and NO VIABLE navigation except their embedded NAV which is quite good 2018 and they are so stupid as to only offer that on just their 6 cylinders with this option yet only 5 % of all Camry buyers are 6 cylinder. This means that no 4 cylinder 2018 Camry and no 2018 Camry Hybrid can order Entune Premium which is their embedded dynamic navigation with complete integration with their head up display. You need to know this if you consider 2018 Accord or 2018 Camry - don’t you ? Let me know ok ?
