I just bought one after trading in my 2021Toyota Tacoma SR5. The Tacoma was under powered, there was cheap plastic all over the place, and the transmission was hunting for gears at an alarming rate. Toyota service department told me that hunting was normal. I disagreed, and so now I drive a 2024 Frontier Pro-4X. I love the Frontier and recommend that you take it for a test run. You will probably drive out of the dealership with one. BTW, the tighter steering feels great and it feels like a real truck as opposed to a pussyfied replica of a truck.

My Tacoma is horrible on the highway.... the gear hunting is a problem they never solved. Cruise control is so annoying because it is always downshifting from 6th. I found driving in sport 5th on the highway is the solution.

@@kennak476 That's sad. My 2021 was my third Toyota. The first was a 1989 4WD truck with the 22RE. That was the best one. The second is a 2003 with the 3.4L. It has 208K and continues to run like a charm. But that 2021 was a real dog. The Frontier is a real truck that runs tight. The V6 has real pulling power and the truck feels and looks high quality. I had 2 trd sport 3rd gen tacomas. Both 6ft beds. The gear hunting and lag from the auto drove me insane. I traded for a 6sp manual. I liked the tacpma a lot. I love toyotas. However, i ended up with rav4 due to my long work drives. Eventually, i gave the rav4 to my other half as i wasn't driving far anymore. I went truck shopping. I test drove the new tacoma. Idk why but it was smoother in the front with better power delivery than the 3rd gen BUT i felt every effing bump in my seat. It was jarring. I thought that was weird since the new tacomas are to have the independent suspension in the rear now. I test drove the 24 frontier pro4x and wow. Interior was better looking, seats were extremely comfortable. The ride was smoother by 10x better than the tacoma. Ban you are spot on bro I have been blessed to bone every pick up truck under the sun pack. I’ve had three take pro for Rexis. They are my favorite full-size pick up truck. Only issue I had with them is they are gas customers but it’s my favorite engine. It is my favorite full-size pick up don’t know why they don’t sell better. The frontier is truly the best midsize pick up truck for the money I had one for a while. loved it right now I am driving the maverick tremor lariat. This little truck is amazing as well and more affordable. If this truck in the frontier with the same price, I would probably still be driving the frontier. I just looked to save myself 10 grand otherwise, I truly loved that frontier pro- 4X, the naturally aspirated engine, gray truck the only other midsize truck that I put in a class with that frontier is the gladiator I had the Rubicon and I absolutely love that truck just wish they would put the turbo four-cylinder in it because that little engine is amazing. I ran that in my jeep wrangler and loved it but good job as usual been hit it out of the park baby it’s just car. Prices have gotten totally in sane and I don’t even know what to do anymore. As much as I love this truck I have been considering going to Lake Park, Impreza, RS to try and save some money But I just don’t know if I get to you I’m not having a pick up. I’ve tried it a few times like my daughter said to me dad you always end up selling it and going back to another pick up and you just keep losing money and at 21 years old. She is probably wiser than her dad so I think I’ll just listen to her and hold onto the tremor for a little bit longer

But yet I'm looking for an old 3/4 ton for when I want to lug a car trailer or boat. I sure can't afford the rotten MPG all the time like so many of my neighbors who commute in a giant 4x4. When I don't need any truck, I have a Civic HX that can pull 44 mpg hwy with no hybrid stuff. It's amazing how the Maverick truck is so good on fuel.

@@jeanclaude7018 I always put a shell on the trucks I own and the wife and I have slept in my previous truck (F150) during one of the eclipse when all the hotels were booked up. I got one of the inflatable mattresses specific for trucks that fits over the fender wells. It was great. I also have a few enclosed trailers and we have last minute slept in them. My current F250 is a pain when it comes to the shrinking parking lots and the turning radius is terrible. That is why we have the little ford ecosport for daily stuff or when I just want to take a trailer with single ATV. If you have a frontier then its plenty to tow a boat and usually those are around 6500 lb tow capacity so if you go by the 85% rule that would put you around 5500 lbs safe towing. Not going to pull a car trailer well unless its a light trailer and small car. It is amazing that they get the same mpg out of the awd 2.0 turbo maverick as they do with my smaller lighter 2.0 naturally aspirated ecosport. I was interested in one when they first came out but they look dorky with a shell unless you get the black model because they all have the black plastic cap on the bed rails so if you get a colored maverick there is a black line separating the bed and shell. Just rubs me wrong.

@jamestorregrossa1185 My beautiful 1986 top of the line Toyota 4x4 blew its head gasket and diff within the warranty, and blew the diff again before I sold it. They're not all bulletproof. And it never went off roading. My 1987 Nissan did not have these issues.

@dad242 9 speed has been around for nearly 5 years. It had some initial issues, but latest update has sorted out shifting issues. It's buttery smooth.

Why wouldn't it? It's not a grenade like the one in Mexican soft Taco.

@@Blue-moon12 I would buy the Toyota Trailhunter then. It's 20K higher but will hold value compared to the Nissan - 60% loss @ 5 yrs. Tacoma only 28%. If you got the $$ get the Toyota.

I've been in one of those newer Nissan frontiers. I don't think Toyota's even worrying about it

Toyota is worried their trucks are overpriced and their quality has fallen through the floor. Combine that with the Tariffs Trump will put on them for moving their manufacturing to Mexico.. Yeah they’re worried.
