I think with the transfer case select switch indicates that it does have a center locking differential. H4F= center diff free or unlocked, H4L= center diff locker and L4L= low range center diff locked. I would like to see it as a separate switch though like in the GX550

Toyota uses up valuable cup holder / console space with the 4wd knobs / switches, window button etc. They should put those switches on the dash and overhead console.

The center lock is integrated into the transfer case switch. Also did you notice the lightning going into the hood area? Electrification somehow?

2:34 There shouldn’t need to be a separate center diff lock switch. It looks like the LC250’s t-case switch handles that in this case (unlike the GX550). So I’m guessing the two placeholder buttons are for a sway bar disconnect and front locker.

Glad you mentioned the MUCH desired tailgate feature (for maximum versatility and expeditions)!!!. (Reference: I bought new an 05 LC and still have it (designated beach car) and 4 yrs ago bought 2015 LX570 for daily driver. New LC Dream List: tailgate a must, 3rd row option, tow 6k, and PLEASE bring back the rear vents from 100 series!!! (and/or have rear window slide into tailgate like 2nd gen 4runner)

The split tailgate will not happen. The GX 550 doesn't have it and that seam there in the teaser is only there because on the GX there's a lightbar instead of just a body panel. The seam is also way smaller than the hatch gap in the picture These SUVs share basically everything and Toyota will not change the design. It only exists because it's cheaper for Toyota to share the exact same body structure and panels with the GX and only the lightbar being swapped in on the more expensive model. The big Land Cruiser 300 and Lexus LX also have a similar seam there but it does nothing. In the previous generation the Land Cruiser 200 and LX had the split tailgate (like you mentioned) and on base model 200s you had barn doors, excellent for a practical work vehicle. The current Land Cruiser Prado 150 has either the side opening door like the GX you in North America are familiar with or a normal hatch seemingly only in the European market. Like the GX 550, this Land Cruiser Prado will probably have the seperate opening glass and if the GX 550 has ceiling vents then the Prado will also have it. These vehicles share basically everything, if you want to know wether the Prado has something just look at the GX. Can you see a trend? Toyota is streamlining its models, removing features, removing practicality, all to make more money. I still hope the Land Cruiser Prado will get the V35A V6 but because these vehicles are so similar Toyota might just want to not give it to the Prado to upsell people to the Lexus GX.

Part of why they discontinued US version of 300 series (after 2021) is because of expected worldwide demand (& yes, the Lexus LX here). There was (is still?) a FOUR year wait list for the 300 in Japan shortly after debut.

Technically they are all on the same platform. But the body and characteristics will mimic the GX more than LX. I think Toyota wants the Sequoia to act as their full sized Off-Roader.

I agree. My guess which I want to be true would be a plug in Hybrid to compete with other suv plug in’s (jeep 4xe line, ford escape plug in etc..). I would be shocked if it was full EV as doing so could pinch sales in the short term. I imagine Land Cruiser enthusiasts want more of the past then of the future.

Hey jon, I know if off of topic but I wanted to get you opinion on something. I have a 2023 4runner trd pro in solar octane I ordered fuel flame wheels in all black size 20x9 and I'm wrapping then in a set of toyo open country rt trail size 285 55 20 I'm getting everything installed later in August with a westcott design lift. My question is do you think the 20s will look to out of place and look funny because I'm starting to have second thoughts because I don't want it to look stupid. I appreciate you opinion. Thanks

Personally, on a pro, I feel they would be outta place. HOWEVER…it is a Solar octane which it’s a stand out color. So bigger wheels may help add to that. But personally I prefer 17-18 on the 4R

It’s obvious this was the new 4 Runner. However when the new Bronco became popular and the Land Cruiser name left N. America they decided to switch directions and create a 4 runner to compete with Bronco/Wangler and bring back Land Cruiser name. Not to mention they still making money on the current 4 runner.

NA? You mean naturally aspirated? The engines will likely be 2.4L turbo inline-4 and 2.4L turbo inline-4 hybrid. I'm still hoping for the 3.4L twin-turbo V6 but it seems like it won't happen.

4 pot means distinct possibility for a hybrid max though, which means 2400w onboard power inverter which will be sweet for camping and such. Much rather that than the V6 with only a 400w inverter.

@ALMX5DP yes, but again, I prefer a larger engine that will be better for towing, even when the 4 cylinder hibrid shows a combined hig torque, it will be lower than a turbo v6

@@12masterr if you’re towing that much size or weight, a larger/longer wheelbase vehicle is probably preferable. For the size that this is, I feel it’s tow rating (which is still TBD) will be appropriate for most. Always pros and cons, but you could always go GX550 and swap some cloth seats into it if you must have this type of rig.

Without a removable roof it's a non starter for me. I like the styling but would buy a jeep or bronco over this simply because the roof and doors can easily be removed from those vehicles. I have always been loyal to Toyota because of their reliability but having owned a '22 tundra for almost a year Toyota's reliability edge is now gone.

Another big fail from Toyota. As a Land Cruiser guy, a lot, if not most of us feel they don’t understand us or the US market. We don’t want a cheaper GX. We want a 300 or a 70 series! My opinion is they already killed it with the new GX, especially with the Overtrail trim level. Therefor we don’t need another competitor to the 4Runner/GX. We WANT a vehicle to go head to head or dominate stupid Jeeps and Broncos. Thus, bring us the 79 series. In wagon and pickup form. Solid front axle, base trim, manual transmission and all. I know diesel isn’t an option but ok, gives us that with the TT V6. Not sure why such a huge market like the US doesn’t get what their core die hard buyers want. Why does mainly Africa and Australia get the 70? Lame.
