Production of the first generation of the Land Cruiser began in 1951. The Land Cruiser has been produced in convertible, hardtop, station wagon and cab chassis body styles. The Land Cruiser's reliability and longevity have led to huge popularity, especially in Australia, where it is the best-selling body-on-frame, four-wheel drive vehicle. Toyota also extensively tests the Land Cruiser in the Australian outback - considered to be one of the toughest operating environments in both temperature and terrain. In Japan, the Land Cruiser was once exclusive to Toyota Japanese dealerships called Toyota Store.
As of 2021, the full-size Land Cruiser was available in many markets. Exceptions include the United States (since 2021), Canada (since 1996). Malaysia (which receives the Lexus LX instead), Hong Kong, Macau, Singapore, South Korea, Brazil, and most of Europe. In Europe, the only countries where the full-size Land Cruiser is officially sold are Gibraltar, Moldova, Russia, Belarus and Ukraine. The Land Cruiser is hugely popular in the Middle East, Russia, and Australia, and also in Africa where it is used by farmers, NGO's, UN and humanitarian organizations, by national armies (often the pickup version) as well as by irregular armed groups who turn them into 'technicals' by mounting machine guns in the rear. In August 2019, Toyota Land Cruiser cumulative global sales surpassed 10 million units.

I find it fascinating that the Japanese are just so good at manufacturing quality products. I think it's a unique set of qualities all coming together in the perfect storm: high IQs, high discipline, honour, value of craftmanship. Interestingly they don't usually invent things (perhaps tied to cultural norms of conformity), but they are the absolute masters of innovating, refining and perfecting.

You are wrong on almost every count. The average IQ in Japan is the same as anywhere. Their attitude to craftsmanship is similar to (eg) Germany, Switzerland, so hardly "unique". The old adage that the Japanese don't invent things is tiresome; please come out of your "stuckness"; and they are no more or less conforming than anywhere else. They do it well, but that does not make them particularly special. And they do make high quality products, but so do other countries. Why don't you come to Japan and see for yourself ? And before you ask, I have lived and still live in Japan, the last 30+ years; I speak and read Japanese, and other languages. Most Japanese speak only Japanese. To give another example - last time I visited Japan a smartly dressed elderly taxi driver with white gloves drove us to the train station, but he took a wrong turn (like one block) and it took us 1 minute and perhaps $1 more to get there. He was deeply apologetic and bowing, which we thought was completely over the top and unnecessary. Contrast that with a taxi driver in most other countries. To me the whole experience (including the white gloves etc..), was another example of Japanese taking great pride in their trade / craft / service.

I believe this is the Yoshimura factory northeast of Osaka. Very experienced workforce there. I was unaware the LC Prado (Lexus GX in USA) is also manufactured there. Sadly no LC300s in the US yet though we do get the Lexus LX600. Anything coming out of this factory will be superbly built.
