You are very fortunate to have that shop teach you the process. Make sure to thank those guys for sharing their knowledge with you.

@@mizeadventure9438 I got a desmogged carb for it, fabbed an egr block off plate from the part. I just need to finish the desmog and get everything hooked up. It turns over easily with a breaker bar on the crank.
@mizeadventure94384 жыл бұрын
@@GridIndustries oo yeah the desmog will make it even more simple to get her going. those VAC lines can be a painnnnn.
@GridIndustries4 жыл бұрын
@@mizeadventure9438 yes, I'm not going to try and track down vacuum leaks, so I just start cutting stuff off and worry about the few I need lol. Did you do anything to bump your compression up? I think it's stupid low on these engines.

@@GridIndustries yeah on the motor im building im doing a few things. ill be talking about that in future EPs of the motor rebuild series.

Now that you got the head off, don't forget to redo the galley plug so you don't have a random catastrophic failure... And paint the damn head!!! I completely forgot to do mine after I had my head work done, then reassembled everything and was like $*)@*!!!!
@mizeadventure94384 жыл бұрын
ill get to all that stuff! need to finish machining things first. paint will come down the line. Probably just going to do black. Nothing fancy.

I made it back. This is going to get good. can't wait to here the plans for the upgrades.
@mizeadventure94384 жыл бұрын
HAHA yesss! its really going to start getting cool in PT3. we start machining everything. So let me know if there is something specific you want to see during that process.
@tombrown8794 жыл бұрын
@@mizeadventure9438 would like to see how to balance the rotating assy if possible. also. are you using factory rods and facory oversized pistons? or going to the aftermarket chevy style rods with costom pistons? also always love to see porting of the head-intake.
@mizeadventure94384 жыл бұрын
@@tombrown879 well stay tuned. going to be doing all that stuff in the near future. also be reviewing what parts we are going with. just started ordering things today/last week so once its all set in stone ill start talking about it.

yes we measured everything and its all in spec. So a motor that have 256k on it i think thats damn good. We could of done new rings and just put the motor back together. But i figured if its going to be apart why not make it a little better. The fun really starts in the PT3 when the machining takes place.
