I had a 1968 Toy Landcruiser, that grey factory color, it had the ultra cool round fender mounted turn indicators, it had the 6 cyl inline engine, and my favorite aspect of the truck... had the 3 0n the tree Shifter ! I loved it , drove the hell out of that thing, all thru high school, it was my all time favorite vehicle, of all times, ive had over 20 vehicles in my life but that old Land Crusher was my Favorite.

Great video for Landcruiser lovers. What the museum needs is what they call a "technical" in the Middle East. It's a Landcruiser pickup with a four barrel automatic anti-aircraft gun in the back. Fire power!

That’s reminds me of the saying an Alaska bush pilot told me when I was on a Caribou hunt and we had a weather delay that a member of party was growing impatient with. He said, “There are old pilots and there are bold pilots. But, there are no old bold pilots.” Sound advice for life!

I’m really looking for a good one that hasn’t been turned into a freak show. Nowadays they are importing totally clapped out South American vehicles, Slap a couple cans of rustoleum on the top, and 30 gallons of truck bed coating on the undercarriage, Then, Putting them up for 40-60 thousand dollars!!!

I bought a used FJ 40 1971? I purchased in 1972. Green OMG I loved that vehicle. Needed a lot of engine work as previous owner BEAT the heck out of it. Eventually rusted out despite trying to stay on top of that (live in NYS) The was the BEST vehicle I EVER owned period. I purchased a rag top for it for the warm weather times. Unscrewed the hard top off and kept in the garage until the fall. Warn locking hubs…great. I started me early life with a Land Cruiser and would love to wind down my older life with one. Are there any places where this tough old broad could acquire another? I learned the REAL 4 wheel driving with my old “greenie”. I’ll just have to take a leisurely trip out west to check this museum out. Thanks for the tour Oh a diesel would be even better!

I’m in the USA and own a 1980 FJ40 that is originally from South America. Great truck and it runs good, but it has quite a few “creative engineering solutions” from its life in South America that I’m slowly fixing. Taking it back to all original except for a minor suspension lift and 33” tall skinny tires. Great video and amazing museum. I plan to go visit and thanks for the video!

In 1975, I bought a brand new red Toyota FJ40 bobtail for $7,500.00. It had a four on the floor, straight six engine, two speed transfer case, 4:11 front and rear. It was good off road. But it had no lockers. It sucked on the highway with the engine revving (no overdrive gear) and low fuel mileage (I added an extra fuel tank for range). The exhaust valves and seats would burn up at high speeds with compression leaks due to the unleaded gas. But I loved that front bumper attached to the frame!

The Australian 100 series at the 25 minute mark is a FZJ 105 GXL version built in 1999. It has the straight six 4.5 litre engine normally fitted with the auto trasmission. The vehicle shown is identical to my own Land Cruiser. I have rebuilt all of the suspension and bushes and drives as smooth as can be. A really nice vehicle to own. Thank you for such a wonderful museum. It's great to see so many Australian sourced versions on display. I would love to visit one day. Regards to you all.

The 2018 70 series still has a solid front end. The 100 series HJ105 made for Australia only has a solid front end then in 2007 the new 200 series then went IFS the same as the other 100 series variants. I hope this helps with the Land Cruiser story.

For the past 27 years I have owned a Brazilian Bandeirante, 1987 model, which I heavily modified over the years keeping the original look as much as possible. Only by looking inside, and seeing panel instruments like the turbo gage, EGT, and tacometer one can tell it isn't 'original'. In fact it is quite the sleeper with a 177 HP Mercedes-Benz OM 364 LA Tdi, originally built for the MB914 truck, 5 speed box, 12/35 differential ratios Nippon AC, ZF power steering, and other amenities. I am quite certain this is my lifetime car. There os something about this cat that makes it quite special. It is great for the city (mine os the short base), for the asphalt, and offroad

Kinda fitting that this museum is in Salt Lake. Landcruisers are like wives, one isnt quite enough. 120 Prado as a daily (you really do need one of these in the museum. It was a revolutionary do anything vehicle here in Australia. Zip around the city comfortably one day, tow a Camper trailer around the Continent the next) 2xFJ40’s in the project queue FJ60 Sahara cut down into a fire rig on the farm.

What's not to love about Landcruisers? In Australia, I legally learnt my on-road driving skills in a 1980 diesel 4sd deluxe Hj60 wagon. It was very slow but you would have to deliberately make an effort to stall it. Many years later, I bought a FJ62 Deluxe 1985 wagon. Apart from the mandatory bullbar, it had 35" tyres and was slightly lifted. Otherwise it was stock. Right down to the radio. It was metallic grey with the deluxe grey cloth interior, which to me, is one of the best colour combinations you can get. Everything worked and it had original paint and NO rust. I wish that I had kept that one except the fuel consumption with the 35's on it was around 20lt/100km. I just could not afford to run her!
@jaminpeace92364 жыл бұрын
There's a MINI-CRUISER that's specifically designed for Philippine Military back in the 70's/80's that you could probably add to your collections. It resembles the FJ's, but a bit shrunk in version of it. If you're lucky, you may still find some diesel FJ's over there. It used to be very common due to weather, terrain and road conditions.

I'd love to go, makes me want to start a LC museum here in Aus... For those that don't know, in Australia 70 series are incredibly popular, I own two (HZJ75 and HZJ79, not uncommon here)... but, here they are like the F-series trucks of the US. I actually had a mate who bought a canopy for the back of his HDJ79 (literally the best truck toyota ever built BTW) and went to the guys farm to pick it up, he had no less than 14 70 series, the majority of which were HDJ79's with a couple of VDJ79's and a few HZJ79/75s. HZJ79's are like the poor mans HDJ79 lol and VDJ79's are basically considered the disposable generation, which get crushed after 10 years rather than kept for 50 Here we consider the 1HD-FT, and to a slightly lesser extent the 1HD-FTE/13BT/1HD-T to be the best 4x4 engines toyota ever made, what's the view from over there?
