The Prius C has a nice chassis that's firm compared to other econo boxes. The only downsides are the typical numb, delayed & disconnected steering that's common to most Toyotas and the boring drive train. If it had a better engine and revised steering, it might make for a genuinely fun hatchback.

The fact that Priuses are some of the most reliable car models on the planet means I'd much rather get that than a fancy Tesla that is basically bound to be replaced like a cell phone every 2 years. Toyota is boring precisely because they focus so much of their resources on having rock solid vehicles. That's why they don't add loads of new features, because they want to test everything like crazy to make sure it's reliable and useful before introducing it.

Interesting Prius tidbits: The Prius does not use a typical transmission. Toyota calls it the Power Split Device. The electric motors and gas engine are connected to a planetary gear set which is always engaged, and there is no shifting. It has two electric motors. The large one is called Traction Motor and is the one used to assist the gas engine. The small motor charges the hybrid battery pack and is used instead of a conventional starter when the gas engine needs to start. Things the Prius doesn't have: Starter: the small electric motor spins the engine Alternator: electric motor is used as a generator when it's not powering the wheels Any accessory belts on the engine: items usually powered by an accessory belt are electric Reverse gear: electric motor is used for backing up the car Toyota uses the term "Hybrid Synergy Drive" and I thought it was just marketing gobbledygook, but the more I've learned about the drivetrain in this car, the more it makes sense. There's some amazing tech going on in this car, and it first came out in 1997 (in Japan)!

My family has now owned a 2nd gen Prius, 3rd gen Prius, and 3rd gen Prius V. All are great cars. Easy to drive, reliable, comfortable, and the electric motor gives good low speed acceleration. Perfect cars for commuting in traffic.

I'm one of those weird kids who always wanted a Prius. Even when I got a Corolla as my first car, it was only because a Prius was too expensive. Fast forward 200k miles, and I traded that Corolla in for a '17 Prius. Honestly, I couldn't be happier. It feels so damn good hearing the engine shut off at 50 mph and just coast along on unicorn farts. I get double the fuel efficiency I used to, I drive wherever I want without thinking about the cost, and it's actually a pretty smooth, quiet ride for what's feels like it should be a compact car. I'm really looking forward to having a lot more hybrid options by the time this Prius finally gets traded in (honestly, they'll probably be phasing out gas engines entirely by that point), but I'm glad I got to own one and just laugh at toolbags who claim that "real car guys" would never drive it. This thing is a marvel of engineering and saves me a ton of money that I can then put toward project cars or whatever else.

I'm glad you guys made a video about the Toyota Prius. The Toyota Prius is a car that doesn't deserve hate from fools, and it has some rich history behind it. The fools who hate the Toyota Prius so much, are missing out on the cool, rich history and events that happened to the Toyota Prius. In fact, the Toyota Prius is an adorable-looking car. The Toyota Prius reminds me of a cross between a warm teddy bear, and a stubby dog. Even though I think all the Toyota Prius generations are good-looking, I like the second generation Toyota Prius a lot.

Prius Gen 3 owner, and I love all sorts of cars. The first car I've legally driven on the road was an 86 celica 5 speed manual, then a 98 malibu, then a 02 focus(don't recommend), then a 6 speed manual 08 wrangler, then a 11 Nissan frontier(do recommend), then an 08 BMW 335xi( nice but too expensive to maintain), then my prius(do recommend). My dream car since NFS hotpursuit 2 came out has been a McLaren f1. Point is you can still like cars and own a prius. They're cheap no nonsense reliable cars. But keep hating them. It'll keep the used price low so I can get more in the furture 😉

My 68 Year Old Dad bought a brand new 2019 Toyota Highlander Hybrid - with the V6 - last year they had the V6 in the Highlander Hybrid! I have Driven it and lemme tell you what 306 wheel Horsepower (rated) and INSANE torque, she REALLY TAKES OFF! Like I am talking 6 seconds or less in 0-60 when using the Sequential Shift mode - which gives the CVT Fixed Gear Ratios - it does still shift up once you redline, but DAYUMM she is quick for such a big girl! I mean she does NOT FEEL like the ~4500 Pound thing she is, that "Synergy Drive" and the "eCVT-i" WITH a 3.6L Atkinson V-6 that uses VVT-i and makes 272 Hrspr ALONE! Then, there are 2 electric motors, 1 for the rear wheels which is rated for IIRC around 220 Horsepower and ~360 Lb-ft torque, and the front motor makes 98 horsepower and 150 odd Lb-ft torque! The "Rated System Power" of 306 Hp -for some reason the ONLY Torque specs given are for the V6 engine, not the combined force - which is a LOT more than the 216 Lb-ft the Atkinson Cycle V6 makes - dunno why it has such low torque, but retains the same Horsepower as the ~2008 Rav4 V6 (same 3.6L Base engine) - except the Rav4 is NOT an Atkinson cycle, so it makes 262 Lb-ft of torque. The Rav4 V6 is a LITTE quicker in a straight line than the Highlander Hybrid, but NOT by a lot, the 0-60 is all but the same! Of course, the Rav4 handles the Turns FAR better than the extremely heavy - but low center of gravity of the Highlander. The 2020 and 2021 Models now ONLY offer a 4 Cylinder engine with the Hybrid option. I makes the "Rated System Power" drop to 243 Hp, and its 0-60 time is significantly slower last I checked anyway. It is a 2.5L I-4 which makes only 186 Hp and 160 Lb-ft of torque. The Towing rating is down by like 500+ lbs too. Point is, V6 is faster and better for towing and is MUCH more fun to drive - but of course the new 4 Cylinder Hybrid Highlander gets INSANE MPG - instead of the combined 28 MPG of the 2019 V6 model, the 2020+ I-4 gets a combined rating of 36 MPG. Sure, you win out on gas, but it is nowhere NEAR as fun! I LOVE Hybrids that use BOTH the Gas engine and the Electric to add to power! IF it weren't for the Always ON Automatic traction control, the rear wheels COULD spin! When you launch hard from a dead stop they always chirp! I LOVE tuning, if the 2019 Highlander Hybrid were mine - I would be looking at ways to beef up the Gas engine, and ALSO see if there are GOOD ways to get more from the Electric - by either adding Battery capacity to allow them to run at full bore longer and therefore speed up insanely quick - also see if it would be SAFE to Mod the ECU to allow the Electric Motors to continue to add force after something like ~35-40 MPH - I also think they shut off when the Gas Engine is at full revs, and I would want to use them as an electric BOOST! OMFG - I bet there is going to be SOME sort of Electric Turbocharger that I could just plug into that battery system as well! So yeah re-map the Electric Engine Control - maybe add cpacity to batteries, and then some easier mods like Exhaust - and hopefully find SOME form of Turbo/Supercharger that can easily work with said engine - and POSSIBLY - Hopefully can use some of that Battery power from the ~600+ volt Hybrid battery system! I would LOVE to have a juiced Hybrid! That would be so much fun - but I would ofc need to be careful. I mean my Dad is probably eventually going to give said car to me.... Yanno, he is 68... I hate thinking about it, but it is a reality of life, at least he is healthy and god willing will live to see 98 in good health.... I really dont wanna lose him, my Dad is also like my best friend. I am 35 now, and I still have more to talk about with my dad than anyone else I know, because we both LOVE Technology, especially Computers, and anything related to Motorized Transportation after that! I was ALAWYS a Dirtbike rider, I rode HARD! I won some local race, and all my friends at the track except for ONE could NOT keep up with my speed and pace. I had a 2007 Honda CRF 250R (revved to 14,000 RPM!) and my favorite bike ever - a 1987 Honda XR 600R - the model with TWIN CARBS and intakes! That thing was a BEAST! I had her tuned as well, better exhaust, jetted my carbs and had almost perfect fuel/air at all revs - I added a Ram Air intake to the front that could be shut when riding in deep water - it was glorious, one on each side! The stock Airbox was really restrictive because it was all but SEALED under the seat and sucked air in through the highest point on the frame right below the gas can. This protected it well, but the engine was SUCKING air in! So with the air rams, she REALLY SCREAMED! Easily broke 60 Hp and ~45 Lb-ft of torque, hell stock was like 51 Hp and 40 Lb-ft - the engine is rated at 20 lb-ft at just 1000 RPM, and I know she revs to at least 7500! Anyway I got sick, and was unable to start that bike anymore... Long story, I already have ranted a life story... But yeah, I had to sell her because she was just sitting there going to rot... You never APPRECIATE the amount of strength and stamina it takes to kick start a 600 CC single cylinder 4-stroke - sure the decompression lever helped a LOT but, you had to let go of it at JUST the right time - right as you are nearing the end of the kick. Anyway I no longer have that strength or stamina from being sick.... I hope there is a Hybrid Tuning scene of SOME sort!
