Once you establish that you can take it off, you really don’t need an oil filter wrench because you should only be doing it as much as you can hand tighten it. Then you don’t need a filter wrench

I only hand tighten my oil filter, no wrench needed to install or remove the filter at all.

I agree, this is the best way to hand tighten it properly. Unfortunately it is not always the case if somebody else works on the vehicle or when it comes new from the factory.

@@MorozovAutomotive either I do my own oil changes or take it to my own local mechanic I trust and watch him do the oil change, I buy the oil and filters, I just pay for the labor. What do you think about that?

Здравствуйте, посоветуйте какое масло лить в двигатель рава 22года.Живу в россии, с завода залито было 0w16, а на обслуживании дилер залил 5w30, думаю не не то что нужно этому двигателю. в следующий раз приеду со своим 0w20-как думаете нормально будет. Живу на юге, несильно жидкое? У Вас ведь тоже жарко бывает.

You'll need one if you can't remove oil filter by hand during the oil change.

I just use a smaller band type filter. Cheap and every Canadian Tire has them

Fake bias review. The adjustable pliers always work. You grab the round portion of the filter and claim it will slip. If you grab the flats, the plier will not slip. I have uses the plier type for many years and it never fail me.
