Toyota Sequoia Alternator upgrade - 2JZ

Upgraded the alternator on the mk3 supra from the factory alternator to Toyota sequoia. Highly recommend taking the alternator to a machine shop to trim down the excessive material. Make sure that you take the 2JZ alternator for measurements to get the machine cut right.

I did a very similar upgrade using an early LS430 alternator, 140A and uses the same 3-pin connector as the 2JZ; no adapter needed. I just hope I didn't take too much off the mount and belt alignment is okay.

I didn’t know LS430 works too, I highly recommend taking it to machine shop for this type of work. I just took it for a drive and did some 25+ psi boost pulls and it held up pretty good!

Do you have to upgrade the alternator pulley on these when over revving? Heard of a few 2js blowing up the factory alternator when revving over 7500 rpm

I did not upgrade the pulley at all. I haven’t heard any blowing at all. I’ve done good amount of 8k pulls and so far so good! Just gotta make sure you have a machined down correctly. If it’s off, I am sure you will have problems and that’s what many people having issues cause they don’t machine is correctly
