I purchased a brake bleeder and vacuum pump kit. 14.00 harbor freight. It worked to suck out the fluid. I wondered how dry can you pump it and not worry about air pockets. My car runs fine. So far so good.

To get the air bubbles out when you turn the steering wheel at the last step , do you keep the truck jacked up and do you keep the cap on the reservoir or do you keep the cap off to get the air bubbles out? Great video thanks!

@wittydisplayname17618 ай бұрын
From the factory the Tacoma power steering fluid is clear/amber. My understanding is that it is ATF that has not had the red color added to it. Toyota recommends replacing it with an ATF. I would like to replace mine with clear/amber fluid but I have searched and cannot find a clear ATF, so I guess red it is.

Your key has to be in the "on" position to disable the steering lock. It's also really hard to turn the steering wheel with the front wheels on the ground, which is why he jacked up the front of the truck.

It was never red to begin with. Toyota doesn't fill their vehicles with ATF, they fill them with Part No: 08886-01206 (Toyota Lexus OEM Genuine Power Steering Fluid Oil PSF). In fact the Car Care Nut suggests that you just use general PSF that is Toyota approved.
