I have the RCI skid plate and it makes changing oil a lot easier

Is 5w30 bad for these engines?
@backyarddadKL7 күн бұрын
No, it’s actually recommended for certain temperature climates as shown in owners manual. Others report it helps w valve clatter and other known issues w the 5.7.

@ good to know have a 2013 160k thinking about going 5w30 but I have no issues with the 0w20

I have a 2020 Sport. With the 5.7 as yours. I also do my own oil changes. It does not take much of a piece of debris or sliver of metal to cut into your new O- rings on the oil filter housing. JUST WONDERING....... WHY WOULD YOU USE YOUR DIRTY MOTOR OIL TO LUBRICATE THEM??

Fair point, I’ll consider that in the future. Never had trouble w it.

I would NEVER change my oil every 10k, don't care if you use the best oil there is, every 5k. Obviously it's cheaper to replace the oil than the engine or head gasket, just my opinion. I used to use Mobil 1 fully synthetic, but now I went to Valvoline restore and protect. If you read up on it it's a much better oil, I still change every 5,000 regardless. There is also an oil pan adapter you can put on your oil pan, so all you have to do is attach a hose and it will automatically drain. No need to remove a plug anymore.
