Does this only work in 2wd? When I put mine in 4wd it does not let me use it
@4x4OffRoadChannel5 жыл бұрын
If traction control is shut off ATRAC will not engage. In 4Hi ATRAC does not seem to be as aggressive as when in 4Low. I had to experiment with it to understand when and how to use it.
@WolfOverland5 жыл бұрын
4x4 Off-Road Channel got you. I thought it was disabled in 4low. I would love some mud like that to try it out. I’ve heard you have to give it a bunch of gas and hold the gas pedal steady to get it to properly work
@4x4OffRoadChannel5 жыл бұрын
I have found that with to much throttle ATRAC becomes ineffective, just enough throttle to maintain momentum but not enough to start spinning the tires. My friend went up the hill before me and he was spinning the tires. After the third try he went up slow and let the ATRAC work. He made it up with no problems. When its dry out and the trail has rocks I use the 2wd Auto LSD option so I limit tire spin and tire damage. Only in deep mud, water crossings and sand I will shut the traction control off.
@hzk125 жыл бұрын
@@4x4OffRoadChannel the sweet spot for atrac is between 1 to 2.5 rpm. If you give more throttle its ineffective.

I've always liked black vehicles, but I believe that blue is one of the better colors out there. Nice setup. I like the experience of slow and steady, and not full throttle tearing up everything, especially the truck.

Very informative video in my opinion. It makes me feel much better about the Tundra not having a locking differential. Considering getting one soon.
@Weatherby4064 жыл бұрын
As a former tundra owner..current power wagon owner this is the kind of terrain A-Trac works very well in. Just doesn’t help in deep snow/mud as well since you can’t get the high wheel speed needed sometime. It will get you moving again if stuck in deep snow sometimes.
@tpj19594 жыл бұрын
I was watching a video of Mike Sweers being interviewed. He said you need to back up a little (like the guy did in this video) and then pull forward and the ATRAC will engage. I didn't know you had to back up..Seemed to work in this video. Thanks for the demo
@whoopdeedoop65874 жыл бұрын
That can happen with 4wd. ATRAC should come on in 4wd mode whenever it engages.

aren't you suppose to take the rear sway bar off when you go wheeling? asking for a friend
@4x4OffRoadChannel5 жыл бұрын
Yes sway bars are not good for off-roading limiting wheel articulation. This truck is built to be better in all areas street, strip and off-road. The truck has a sequoia front sway bar and a TRD rear sway bar. By limiting articulation off-road seems to make the truck more reliable by not maximizing the angles on the drivetrain and suspension.

Does the rear sway bar reduce off-road capability that much?
@4x4OffRoadChannel4 жыл бұрын
No the TRD sway bar doesn't seem to restrict articulation enough to affect its off-roading capability.

Is the A-Trak work the way as LSD
@4x4OffRoadChannel4 жыл бұрын
A-TRAC works by applying the brakes to a spinning wheel allowing more power to be sent to the opposite wheel hopefully with more traction. A true LSD differential locks both tires when one starts to spin and is a mechanical system. A limited slip differential in theory should out perform A-TRAC in most situations.

supercharged?
@4x4OffRoadChannel5 жыл бұрын
Yes, I would recommend supercharging a tundra as long as premium fuel of at least 91 octane is available.

4x4 Off-Road Channel what do you mean by 91 octane being available?
@jimwolabaugh36084 жыл бұрын
4x4 Off-Road Channel I’m just curious why you would recommend that? I see reason to alter a perfectly good engine. In my opinion, anytime a supercharger is involved, one is just asking for trouble. And doesn’t that void warranty?
@tcao10835 жыл бұрын
Love your setup, would like to do something similar. Do you have to do any trimming to fit those 315/70-17?
@4x4OffRoadChannel5 жыл бұрын
Hi yes, because these tires are 10.5 inches in width I had to move the plastic forward on the bumpers and do a body mount chop. I waited as long as possible but wanted the setup bad enough to go ahead with it. The mods were simple and look factory.

They look great and give me another option to consider, thanks for the quick response.
@4x4OffRoadChannel5 жыл бұрын
@@taylord8924 Most other tires are going to be a load E and the most popular sizes would be 275/70R18 and 295/70R18. The Falkin Wildpeak AT3W are popular and are a great buy for the money. Depending on what rims your running would depend on the trimming needed for larger tires. I chose the BFG specifically because of the Load Range C. I had the 275/70R18 in a load range E and the ride was to stiff with the suspension setup I have.
@taylord89245 жыл бұрын
Yup I’m leaning towards going with the 275 70 r18 KO2s for my 2016 Tundra Crew Max Trd Off-road 4x4, but also considering going with a Bilstein 6112 set at 1.9“ of front lift and Bilstein 5160”S in rear with no rear lift,(from the pictures ive seen it’s the same stance as a Trd pro, so if I went with the 2nd route I’d def go 295 70 r18 General Grabber X3’s or Ridge grapplers

Same tires as a stock Ford Raptor. BFGoodrich KO2 315/70r17 Load Range C. The load range c is a wider tire than the E load range. It also provides a great ride on road and offers great cut resistance off road.
