@donhappel99285 жыл бұрын
@@yepitsme431 "both stock" is the key there. Who keeps their wheeler stock? The beauty of the earlier trucks is the ease of modifying. My Disco is currently on 6" of lift and 37" tires. That's not going to happen with any IFS/IRS truck. I have one of those too (LR3) but it's only lifted 2" with 33" tires and that's really pushing it
@yepitsme4315 жыл бұрын
@@donhappel9928 there its TONS of people that leaves the vehicles "stock" at most they add tires and external accesories and thats it.. and guess what? for THOSE people a STOCK truck its more than enough for what they do !! not everyone its heavy into modifying every car they have, and people like you are the minority wheter you like it or not, and financially speaking the majority its the ones in control.. the market dictates what it wants =)
@donhappel99285 жыл бұрын
@@yepitsme431 Yes there are. And there are many vehicles on the market already to cater to them. The entire rest of the Rover lineup for example. Traditionally however the Defender (especially the Defender) was targeted at those who want to personalize the vehicle to suit their needs whether that be for commercial, military, or recreational. The ability to modify for purpose is what made it work, be that an ambulance or an overlander. The new truck has moved to the opposite pole from that philosophy of 'an off-road vehicle that works on the road' to 'a road vehicle that works off-road'. There may indeed be a bigger market for the latter, but as noted Rover themselves already have it well served. In fact, you might even say it's saturated. People buy an M3 instead of a standard BMW because of it's track abilities (even if they never see the track personally). The same was true of the old Defender. Now that they've abandoned the original philosophy of the vehicle, what's to set it apart from the myriad of other luxury SUVs from Lexus, Mercedes, BMW, etc? This basic shift in philosophy is what upsets those of us who are enthusiast. And though we are a relatively small group, we are the people who own multiple Rovers; who actually use them and make them seen in the wild; who run the clubs and generally promote the brand. We've long felt abandon by the brand but held out some faint hope against hope that there was still one; one model that would retain it's heritage of go anywhere, do anything and not simple become another hi-tech, high-priced luxury SUV. I reserve final judgement until they are actually in the field and the aftermarket can start delivery options to 'make it your own'. And I fully understand the forces at play that make an old-school solid axle truck a difficult thing to bring to market today. However when a brand abandons its heritage and history in favor of chasing a quick buck on current fad what do they really have left?

Cool! Now compare them both to the Touareg. (The Landcruiser would have been the winner but you vandalized it with that awful snorkel so the Land Rover wins by default)

You guys really don't understand snorkels do you? Look at the off roaders in Australia and you'll see 7 out of 10 with snorkels...It's there for CLEAN AIR, not water...Remember, function before form...You want pretty, buy a Range Rover.

@@freedomrider266 range rover and land rover are completely different vehicle. Land Rover is a brand, but Range Rover is a model, just like Series, Defender, Discovery, Freeland model

Rover wins 100% I live in WV and off roading is in our blood, and these rovers have made it farther than any vehicle I’ve ever seen. I’ve driven mine up a supper muddy loose terrain up a sever steep hill (I seriously thought I was going to die and flip over) and my rover didn’t get stuck once. I’ve had mine nearly completely under water and it still move like I’m on a regular road. Basically out of all my vehicles I have a Ford Explorer, Lincoln Navigator, Land Rover and my fiancé has a Subaru Impreza (hahaha burn) and we would rely on my rover if we needed to go to hell and back. They say it’s comparable to a Jeep! People are on crack! Jeeps do not have any air suspension or anything so why ppl compare them to the rover is beyond me

OK, you need to get out more...The ENTIRE rest of the world will take a Land Cruiser over a Rover ANY day...And that especially includes Australia, South Africa, South America, etc..., where off roading is vastly more difficult than WV, no offense intended...It's one thing to be a fan boy/girl, but pick on something other than a Land Cruiser...That's like trying to argue that Tony Romo was a better QB than Tom Brady----no experienced off road individual is buying that argument.
