What matters most is a simple car, like the corolla, but without the silly infotainment screen that sticks up from the dash and will not last for 15+ years of service. Pls make it incorporated into the dash like the one on the GR86 or the one on the Forester Wilderness edition. The current screen distracts from the road and will certainly not last from sitting in the sun for 15 years. Also make it so the screen can go dark with the single touch of a button. One button and not hidden in menus. Simple is always better. Do not force people into hybrids like is done with the Camry. Hybrid batteries will fail before 15 years of ownership so how do we pay the $15,000 battery replacement cost at that time (with inflation)? That's if replacement batteries are even available at that time. Why not make stainless steel cars so that can be forever cars and we can just change parts as they need replacement? /I would galadly pay an extra $2000 in steel costs for this life long benefit. The energy saved by not having to smelt the new steel body would greatly exceed the environmental impact of slightly less fuel efficiency of gas vs battery models. How about even an aluminum body corolla? Anything that would last 20+ years is for the benefit of the earth. The worst thing is watching our cars rust away when there has always been an alternative, aka, Stainless steel or aluminum. Also, make sure to have a permanent way to turn off the ridiculous start/stop function. The fuel saved will not possibly equal the energy needed to manufacture the replacement starter assemblies needed over the life of a vehicle. Also how is it healthy for the high rpm turbo to have its cooling oil stopped repeatedly over the course of a drive in the city? This must greatly lower the lifespan of the turbo assembly.
