Like many folks, I had this guy break on me as a child. I've kept him all these years....and I finally now know how to fix him. THANK YOU for all that you do for the community!

I've seen other repairs for Metroplex that just use a bolt and nuts to replace the plastic swivel. This works well, the only thing I would've done differently is use a tiny machine screw with washers to pull the two pieces together and add more strength.

I broke my dad's original Metroplex years ago. I've tried to repair it a number of times, but glue never holds. I've also tried plastic weld, but it had no effect on the plastic. I'm hoping this will work. Thanks for sharing man! It's mostly complete, but it's missing the black car, and I think I've lost a broken piece of one of those leg-mounted arches. I had to 3d print a placement peg for one of the black guns.

This is a tricky fix as some much force and weight goes on the joint. So it needs more than glue to hold it firmly. Cheers

I bought a G1 Metroplex years ago and slowly got all the bits so he was complete, never had a problem with his waist. Then I picked him up a few weeks ago, and his legs stayed behind, dang thing just *gives up*. I had a junker to replace the part entirely, but I suspect that's only a temporary fix at best!

I picked up an incomplete Metroplex, got all the guns and kibble made it complete and then it snapped in half. Now i can fix it👍

Great work. Next time my pops complains about his lower back pain I will recommend plastic weld and styrene sheets. Should do the trick. 😉

Thankfully both the rubber, ad plastic wheeled versions I had never broke. This is basically a more complicated version of the G1 Mirage snapped waist fixed. Basically just a nut and bolt super glued in placed.

My Metroplex broke the same way. Sadly my fix was to buy a new one, but the new Metroplex had plastic wheels.

Looks like an excellent repair to a very common issue. The only question I have is what size drill bit and screw were used?

Use whatever you have that will fit and is a good length. This was just an odd screw I had. The hole was drilled to match that screw.

This is the first time I've gotten upset at a repair. You did not have to drill through the entire knob, and just use a shorter screw. The repair would not have been noticeable. Either way it's a sturdy repair. Good job.

Ouch, just a screw... I see that slowly unscrew itself over the years. 2 washers, a long shank on a bolt with 2 nuts on the end to lock them. Sigh, I wish I could find the top part of my Metroplex.

Speaking of metal parts, what does everyone here think of the latest Soundwave retro figure that Zavvi are currently selling? Was tempted to get it as it was always a figure I wanted but never got in the 80s, but noticed that all the metal parts on the original are now plastic on this newer version. Now I'm in two minds, but it does still look great.
