Not sure if you’ve already done this but I’d love to hear you compare/contrast the c5 vs c6. Not power wise as I know the c5 has much more but just the general feel between the two. Handling, interior and general characteristics. Great video!

I’ve owned both and currently still have my C6. No comparison. I loved my C5 but the 6 is vastly improved in terms of handling, ride quality etc… Now, I recently test drove a C8 and it makes my C6 feel ancient. Unfortunately, C8 is ridiculously overpriced.

FWIW: The bat wing air filter elements can be turned over and placed on the opposites sides to lower them in the front compartment. The tapered fan shroud has to modified to accept the changes. GM claimed a 15% intake flow increase over the LS1 with the bat wing intake system and the LS2 exhaust manifolds were thinner for better flow and some weight reduction. Regards,
@Toys4LifeАй бұрын
Interesting - if that works then I agree lowering the filter elements would be worth it IMO to lower average IAT's. I still think the LS2 maf vs LS3/7 Maf card is restrictive as well. I appreciate the comment!

A full c6 zo6/zr1 exhaust will flow better than an ls2 will ever need. No heat or fittment issues. Add a vacuum solenoid for the bi mode mufflers and you can go loud at the push of a button.

I love all of your very informative videos. Silly me, I have questions. I currently have a C5 Z06 (you may recall my other comments) that I have had 7 months now and I have found a 2012 C6 Grand Sport (LS3) for sale. It had some right front damage and due to that it has a "Salvage Title" and is listed $5800 below Carfax value. It's also listed below what I still owe on my Z06 by $2000. Photos show a clean car but I will have a mechanic and my broker check it out. Now I will admit here that the Z06 with the 6 spd. manual transmission is for me a ideally suited trans vs. the GS 6 spd. automatic. I can live with an auto but what fun is that? Curious, with your knowledge what you think about going from the Z to the GS. Yes, there is a 9 year build differential and also the GS is only 12 years old. Also, the GS has 41k mileage where as I now have 72k in miles of smiles.
@Toys4Life2 ай бұрын
I would suggest driving the grand sport for as long as they will let you - and perhaps a friends as well - and see how you like it. Manual to Auto is a huge difference and 100% up to your preference. GS rear tires cost $$$. Salvage title cars are hard to sell. Aesthetics are key to - but SUBJECTIVE. Good luck!

My 02 c5z is stock bottom end ls6 custom 238/242 cam, prc 227 heads, fast 102 intake, 1 7/8th headers, 4.10 gears. Only weight reduction was ccw classics front and rear, stock titanium exhaust removed and passenger seat removed just for the track. And it went 10.91@128.95 the density altitude that day was 6,800 ft, done at Amarillo dragway. The car is still gets 30 mpg on the highway and with the titanium exhaust on is very tame and docile. I’m sure if I ran at a better track with a negative density altitude the car would be deep into the 130’s
@Toys4Life2 ай бұрын
That's blistering! How's the drivability with that camshaft for day-to-day use? Seems like it might be a bit much for a guy who's 99.9% of the time on the street like me? And what was your 60 ft time, with 410 gears and the lower first gear in the M12 transmission, that's pretty low!
@toggahp2 ай бұрын
@ the car does have some mild surging but my tuner is not the best lol. I also have a ls7 maf with the halltech killer bee intake. And my trans is a built mn6 geared trans now, so it’s not too aggressive! It was pretty aggressive with the m12 that’s why i switched over to the base gearing. The 60ft was a 1.58, not the best launch, I’m sure I could go 10.60’s-10.70’s with a better launch. I would love to run at a track on the east coast in negative da and see if I could get a 9.9xx. That mn6 helped my 60-130 times being that the 3-4 split is not as long at the m12. The car also ran about dead even with my old c7z that was a8 with headers, cai it made 595 rwhp
@Toys4Life2 ай бұрын
1.58 60' is very good. Do you have an ECS trans brace to help ensure it stays together?
@toggahp2 ай бұрын
@ the 60ft was ok a best the car bogged off the line and had a bit of wheel spin. I think i could 60 better with more seat time. And it has a dte trans/diff brace. Stock axles, tick billet tt couplers. C5z 3 rib diff with c6z internals 30 spline output shaft

Well if you assume that power gains as a function of HP is linear (which its probably not, at least not exactly), the FAST got you roughly 15-20 hp and just under 2 mph, headers will probably get you another 20-25 ish which would net you another 2mph, which would get you to 117-118 at your density altitude. I don't know where the 119.9/122 cars were running, but I'd assume they were at sea level or close to it. You could also try giving it E85 since you are competent at tuning and probably have a decent supply of it in Minnesota. Maybe you put on headers/E85 and make a road trip to a dragstrip that's in New England to get close to sea level with cool air?
@Toys4Life2 ай бұрын
I think you are spot on! My strip is around 800 famsl I believe - so not too bad (:-)

You could, I hate to say it, but a small shot of nos 50-75, on these c6's it's huge gains and only when you want it, doesn't affect drivable just remember colder plugs and couple degrees less timing kits nowadays are a far cry to what we had in our early 20's...

Not that it isn't related at all, but mile per hour is much more indicative of horsepower. If a guy put on drag radials, beefed up the transmission, had a prep track, I could shave a bunch of time off of the elapsed time but the mile per hour wouldn't move a bunch.

@Toys4Life2 ай бұрын
No problem with that, I think you're missing the point of the video which is, they made more LS2 c6s then they did LS3s. Therefore, a lot of guys already have these sitting in their garage right now and just want a nice bump and horsepower and the LS2 is no slouch, easy to pick up that 30 horsepower difference between it and the LS3 and then some. It would be a major pain in the ass to sell your LS2 car, buy an LS3 car, pay taxes and potentially inherit someone else's problems which may have been the reason they're selling theirs.
