I use them older meters for a wide variety of uses, they are fragile ill add. I have one for the campers solar input and one on the split charge from the alternator. You gave me the idea some time ago. Its amazing how much someone can learn from a reliable/practical youtuber. I lack confidence to cask videos of my own work (see what winter brings). 😉

I have a question , maybe you could help me . im deciding between 1x 2000w inst or 2 x 1000w insta , which do you think would be better ?
@ToysforWatts
@ToysforWatts 2 жыл бұрын
That's going to be a tough one to answer...the bigger turbine will outperform the two smaller ones in the long run, though not by a large margin, and in gusty weather the two smaller turbines will probably peak at a higher output. One large turbine will perform better, but I do like the idea of redundancy. If your one big turbine breaks then you're whole system is down, but if one of your little turbines break you're only half down. It'll be personal preference I think.

Hey there. Just ordered my i2000 48v. Do you have a link for those newer meters you use? They seem like a preferred unit.

Bought a i-1500 based on some of the results you were having but chose the 48v model hoping the cut in is lower on my 24v system so interested in the results you get. Where do you get those newer meters from? They look good, keep it up, good luck.

How have you been going with the Power Cut in in the 48v Turbine? Wirkung for your 24v system?

Question. The batteries you are using are just to put a load on the turbines? I guess what i am wondering is, do the batteries have to hold a charge ? Or can you use just old cores. I have been trying to setup a inverter system and found that no ones really doing it other then you. Thanks for the videos they have helped a ton...
@ToysforWatts
@ToysforWatts 4 жыл бұрын
Yes I only use batteries to put load on the system...they're essentially resistors. In fact, though I haven't been able to make it work myself, I believe you could actually use resistors to do the same thing. They don't have to hold a charge but the closer they are to completely flat dead, the more load they put on the system...flat out bad batteries will either not provide any load whatsoever, or they'll act as a short locking the turbine down. Keep in mind that no one else does it the way I do because there are so many better ways to do it. I do not depend on my power and am simply dumping it all into my lights, tools, or the grid....making it as efficient as possible just isn't a huge concern. If you need a system that is working at reasonable efficiency or that will provide off grid power then there are other, more effective avenues.

@@ToysforWatts Thank you for the info. You have been a big help. I'm just trying to put the power back into the grid. I have solar that is grid tie, and I figured wind was next. I'm really just trying to offset a little power. Thanks again, looking forward to move videos.

15~20mph pretty consistently, gusts upward of 25~30mph most of the day.

Would you say the Heli has loosened up/broken in even more since your last video?? Sure looks like it is doing well!
@ToysforWatts

I think that it's getting a little easier on the start up but it still struggles a bit. It's been trucking along almost nonstop for the last three days but the wind's kept up. It still takes a pretty good gust to get it going.

Whoaaa! New blades??? I need some for my Heli too!! Mine is at 10,000' elevation. With the thin air it really takes some wind to get it going with the small blades. Also, any suggestions for a wind curve to use in a Midnite Classic???
