TP-LINK Tapo C200 Review: Affordable, Reliable and Easy to Use!

I often travel out of PH and this Tapo camera setup works for me to see back home. I know how important it is to see back home. I setup 10 of these in two homes: my parent's home and my home. I can relate to the concerns, and from a usage point of view, the answer are all yes. This camera system is the best we have at this point in time. It has an integrated artificial intelligence detection system, and more. In certain cases where it does not install smoothly, it does require some skill to setup. For example, I have this "no IP address received" error during my very first setup. Manual said, to avoid WPA3 in our router's security configuration. But there could still be other issues. But once its setup, it works like the "eye of Sauron". During the very first initial setup, the camera device temporarily becomes a wifi access point and your phone must connect to it. There is no internet connection at this phase, this temp dummy wifi is just temporarily used in order for Android phone to configure the camera (format SD card, setup to the true wifi, etc). I am willing to do this setup on your behalf if the location of your request is in Cebu or Bohol. I am inspired of this wonderful device and want to help especially to the OFWs out there far from home. I am a computer engineer by profession, and I used IP cameras like this before bought from Lazada, Shopee. From those earlier experiences, I learned the importance of a good and reliable brand and to stick to a single brand in order to have a unified user interface. Some brands, starts good at first but once they reach a certain popularity threshold, its centralized network bandwidth suffers.

I dont like to use cloud service for cctv's,is there a guarantee that the servee will stay up and beyond the life of the camera? I have purchased other cctv's, soon after they turn off the cloud server after a year of ownership, then the device becomes useless.

Thanks for the review. Next time, can you do a bit on the playback UI please? While that's more of a review of the app, it's important to know how easy and accurate it is to use. I own a couple of different IP cams, and each app I use has good/bad points when using the playback features. Would be nice to see this aspect fully covered in a review of this security cam.

Very good camera if you have strong 2.4gb WiFi (won't work on 5gb WiFi) keep your password safe. Fingerprint biometric access not an option. And that is the only way to keep things 100% secure.

what I use today, when it detects motion, it saves that footage to a cloud for me to see. I have it in my cabin. However, it requiers using an old phone, and both I have installed, have died, even though they was plugged in (first one battery got bigger, second one I dont know cause I havent been there after losing contact). So from this video, what I understand is it only records localy? Will you be notifyed, and are you then able to record? I was thinking having two cameras, and this one will both look into the cabin, but allso outsid to the back where there are trees, and some has fallen.

kenapa TP-LINK c200 cctv, kalau ga ada pergerakan (motion/apapun yang ga bergerak), itu ga ke rekam. misal contoh : ada gerakan di jam 10.00 (orang lewat), terus kan orangnya ilang nih karena udah lewat, nah 10.02 itu ga ada recording sampai ada gerakan

Hi Ma'am, I just got my tapo c200. I want to ask you. How can you monitor the camera at home while you are outside the house? Both have wifi (my phone and camera). I can not connect my phone to tapo camera located in the house because its wifi is not in range. So, even though I have wifi to log in my tapo application but still I have to connect to tapo camera's wifi which is not in range because I am far home. Please help me. Thank you

1. If you encounter an error to your TAPO connection, format it and connect it again, but take note, if you format it in several times TAPO cam will stop giving an automatic display list of the connections you want to connect, so you need to connect it manually. Just go to your wifi in your phone and scan for a connection, and it will appear the TAPO connection, then click it and connect, and its not a big deal if you connect it manually and You cant use 5ghz in your TAPO connection, only 2.4ghz, but you can view and control your tapo cam in different connection like using DATA, 2.4ghz, 5ghz in your home and workplace, etc any kind of internet connection.. Just format it again to be effective. 2. There is no way you can check in tapo app, but here is the list based in tplink tapo website. 8GB 24hrs 16GB 48hrs 32GB 96hrs 64GB 192hrs 128GB 384hrs 3. Just format your SD card, go to settings in the top corner, and go find "sd card" and then it will show "FORMAT sd card". 4. Tapo c200 is for indoor only, and its not weatherproof, but if you want weatherproof TAPO cam, buy a TAPO C310.

I noticed it didn't overwrite the old records. Once microSD storage is full, it stopped recording and I need to manually format it myself. It supposed to be overwrite the old records but it was not functioning that way. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks

I have brought some of these and I have them in the window looking outside. The only trouble is at night time the night vision LEDs are very bright and cause reflection on the window. Is it possible to turn the LEDs off within the app and simply allow the camera to record instead of having to put black tape over the camera housing ??

@@jewelcrusted4919 If the phone app is properly set up, u can not only watch the live feed but u can also watch the recording as well. The app default is for the device to record onto the SD card when movement is detected but you can change that so it is constantly recording.

This cam you have downloaded the app they give you free trials after is a charge most all of the cams you see is nothing for free this will only let you know on the phone if you do not want to pay monthly payments it only show if someone is there on your phone but it will no record anything unless u pay is ok for dog watch in the house or a babysitter but that’s it is not free so is up to u pay monthly or just to let u know someone is in your home they don’t tell you anything until u fine out on your own

You can access the camera remotely using the app! Make sure to connect the camera to a Wi-Fi network first and pair your app to the device. From there, you'll be able to stream the live feed even when you're not at home.
