Will the TP Link WiFi 6 be worth it over a S4 in UK?

Is a WiFi 6 router worth it for a household of 2? I get good speeds connected to my current asus dsl-ac68u via 5gz, is it worth upgrading to the eero pro 6 thats currently on sale? I know I don't "need" to upgrade, as my WiFi is fine. But a deal is a deal, will i notice it or wait till wifi 7?

I have the TP link and it's the only way I've managed a reliable connection to the loft. Over 20 on a 30 connection and 30 in most rooms. The drop outs are interesting as you move around because your phone needs to know to switch to the nearest access point. Some devices are much better than others at doing this,cheap tablets do not do well at this. A good phone can do it on the fly but turning WiFi on and off will usually force connection to the nearest box. WiFi 6 would easily win if you had a faster connection I feel as 40 is easily achieved in WiFi 5. I can keep multiple devices connected well with the TP link but if you're downloading a game in steam it can freeze everything else up. Think that's got something to do with my gaming laptop which loves to hog all the bandwidth for some reason. Overall for the price it's massively better than the original router with or without WiFi extenders which were slow in the loft about 12 max with awful latency. With the TP link I can play games on PC/Xbox from the furthest room in the house. Very impressive. My latency is similar.

Could have said each remote unit has to be range of each other, otherwise they can't relay the signal. Also within good range and not on the outer limits otherwise it would be relaying a weak signal. And these influencers (Ugg) are only on 40Mb! Just about enough for 2 streams of 4K Netflix. I'm on 1Gbps and get that everywhere in the house of similar size to the one on the show all with 1 router on the ground floor and wired access point on the middle floor. So much simpler set up. All works with the 4 of us all with iPhones, 2 AppleTV, 2 Firestick, iPads and laptops and desktop computers and an xBox some wired and the rest wireless. Not a single hiccup.

OMG, 40Mbps?!? That's the worst Internet connection speed I've seen! We have nearly 1Gbps for a household of four (two kids in university/high school and online learning and two parents working from home and MS Teams Video calling). How do these influencers do everything with only 40Mbps? Oh and we use Eero 6 Pro for nearly 500Mbps WiFi across the whole home (four floors) with streaming media (AppleTV, etc) on ethernet.

Even though I still enjoy watching the show for any new tech that I might of missed, the show has become a bit of a joke. Most of the big tests are silly and unrealistic with the team not really knowing what the tech they are testing does. Re: the camera test Jon did 1-2 seasons back. If he was a amateur photographer he would not have done it that way and would have known better.

@@smnichandaria176 Yh, a few weeks back in the gaming segments there were quite a few incorrect facts as well. And the S20 Ultra vs S21 Ultra comparison was kinda pointless, of course the S21 Ultra will be better, but the S20 is going for 500 from some providers right now, my friend just got one, so in terms of value, the S20 is better…

He mentioned they would testing the speed under stress from all those in the household, so that could be a likely cause for the slow speeds. Another thing to mention would be the (slim) possibility of a faulty router but also a poor provider of simply the location of the house. One or more these could factor in to result in slow WiFi speeds.

Eero solved my bufferbloat problems on the network. SQM should be on every router.

Which eero model is that though?

@@marksapollo Every eero model has SQM. My model was the basic Eero mesh for £70. Be aware! If you're from the UK your provider most likely uses PPoE. The first Eero doesn't support that, so you have to double NAT and put the Eero in the DMZ of the first router/modem. If you want PPoE done in the eero to work in bridge mode, then buy Eero 6.

@@portman8909 Perhaps, but CAKE is not supported in the Pro 6 or 6E. And I do have PPPOE and an eero, but I'm getting rid of mine as I don't like them. They run far too hot and don't perform as well as my original Google WiFi does.
