When I was 11, my best friend was hit by by a car and died. I don't know why but this song and that moment were forever cemented together in my mind. It's not a song about friends, or mourning, or really anything I went through at the time but it doesn't seem to matter. Nor does it seem to matter that it happened nearly 19 years ago because I still choke every time she sings lines like ''I never thought I'd see the day when you and me, we'd be so far apart' and it all comes flooding back. Funny, how the human mind works. So, T'Pau, thanks for this song, it helped me in a way I suppose you never imagined when you wrote it and it still brings back memories all these years later.

A great 80s ballad from a superb album. I remember listening 30 years ago on my Walkman travelling on the West Highland railway line from Fort William to Glasgow on a sunny cold afternoon with snow on the mountains. Takes me back to that moment.

Carol. let me start off, I am a through and through metalhead, from the 80's of course and musician to boot. I've never really cared for female vocalist. When I heard your voice back when Heart n Soul came out i was floored, Ur voice is just so powerful, superbe range. superbe arrangements. I regularly listen to your songs. They not only only give me goosebumps EVERYTIME but my skin want to leave my body, then the tears come, not of sadness, just complete joy of hearing your voice and the thing is, yes the music is 80'sish but when you sing, i dont even hear the music, all the focus is on your voice, which makes it timeless. The only thing that is sad, you dont have dozens more albums. thank you very much for what you have given the music community with your talents

It's a beautiful bittersweet song. Perhaps doesn't have quite such a strong chorus or structure as "Heart and Soul", "China In Your Hand" and "Valentine", but it's still appealingly wistful. Was T'Pau's fourth biggest UK hit by peak chart position (No. 14).

I've been a fan for almost 40 years. I wish this band, or some rendition of, would release another album in the style of this first album. . . This song specifically is mesmerizing. The guitar is so ethereal. Drums are simple but perfect. I can't say enough. But I will say again that I wish that Carol and the flashback lineup would consider a new release.
