I can say this because I have a mother, a grandmother and many women in my life who have been the victims of men in this way. I myself have been a victim.

I’m so grateful that she said “NO.” I needed to hear that; it was like she was speaking directly to me. The first time I heard this talk I didn’t get it. I’m female, but it just didn’t resonate with me. It’s taken a couple of years and a huge learning curve, but now I get it. I AM furious, and the fury is not just for me. This gave me chills. Watching it, I thought back to every creepy male manager who ever commented on « how nice my outfit looked on me » or the uninvited back caresses or touching my hair or telling me « smile, sweetheart, you’re so pretty when you smile *for me* » . If you’ve never experienced this kind of objectification, then you really are not an authority to comment on why women shouldn’t feel angered by this. Telling people to do things they don’t want to do or touching them uninvited should make anyone angry. The problem is that it happens disproportionately to women and girls. If you haven’t lived it, you don’t *get* it, so you don’t have the right to say it’s not a big deal.

I almost can't believe the knee jerk reactions of most guys in the comments. It's likely most did not listen to the whole talk. It's guaranteed they don't comprehend the talk. The question is why and did they even try? The perfect case in point is they guys who say they would react aggressively to a man grabbing them to move them. Tracee Ellis Ross could not have said this any better. This is the same conversation that I was having with my sisters. Men are absolutely responsible for how they behave and the change begins within them. At first, I thought "eh, it's not that big of a deal. He moved her. Just laugh at it" but then what she was saying makes sense. Those tiny moments symbolize how women are used and abused. Majority of cases you hear of human trafficking is of young girls and women. You've heard countless stories of women being beaten in domestic violence scenarios. This tiny case of her friend being moved just represents the larger picture.

Lol. I'm so fed up with this group politics that suggests that everyone from a certain group behaves a certain way. Not only is it wrong, but it's downright prejudice. Also, the heavy majority of domestic violence is committed by women against their husbands or boyfriends(who are usually too scared to admit it) but, due to biological facts, men can cause more serious harm in the cases when they do attack. It is a myth that men are oppressors of women; that's not only wrong but also a Marxist way of thinking. Men and women are different. Both have problems. All this victimisation is only marginalising the problems that men face and blowing women's problems way out of proportion. When a feminist says they care about equality, that's a lie. They don't even acknowledge that men face, at least, equally important problems and all they want is a system that allows them to gain access to the top of hierarchies without having to work for it by saying that it's because of oppression instead of work. It'd be nice to see people who actually want to help everyone, for once.

I expect this to be a very controversial topic that flares up a lot of emotions, but, all men are not terrible and all women do not let things fly by. However, in general, men need to have more respect for women. Not all men are disrespectful. Not all cases of abuse and trafficking or whatever else is about women and girls only. Yes, it happens a to boys as well. But, in today's society, women are not respected. We have shifted from that notion. Our young boys are growing up thinking that it's okay to just look at a woman anyway they please. Young girls are growing up thinking it's okay to settle for less and not value themselves. There are men out there who understands the value of a woman and will not ask her to lower her standards. There are men who will step up to the plate to do whatever it takes to honor a woman. And, on the contrary, there are women who have lowered their value simply because "it's hard to find a good man." That's some women's issue. It's not okay to feel like you have to compromise your self worth to find a man who will respect you or just to settle for less than you deserve. Some of you just need to sit down and analyze what Tracee is saying here.

The entire speech was built up about a singular event that occurred in which a man moved a woman. So the claim here is that men objectify women? Because the rest of the video falls under the pretense of that statement. She's basically suggesting that women are the victims in society and that we should blame men for women's faults yet disregards that women should hold their own accountability as well. She provides no real examples of how men are at fault for women's behaviors, but still makes the statement "It is man's responsibility to change man's bad behavior". I hope you're aware that men overwhelmingly have the highest rates of being victims of crime?

She just iterated one story of a woman, who was violated, yes she was violated, as he didn't even have the basic decency to just say, "Excuse me", but there are so many stories, of men doing so much worse than the above story, to so many women. And I get it, it's not all men are predators and not all women are victims. But enough men in the world have this mentality, that just because it's a woman, he can do absolutely whatever his heart wishes with her and she would not make a sound. That's how his brain is functioned and that's how the woman's brain is functioned. As women, we are still told to this day, that "boys will be boys". And that we are just to accept what they do to us. I have no intention of undermining the struggle that men go through, but in this context, where we are obviously discussing women's issues, we should highlight that with more emphasis.

There are way too many false claims against men of all kinds of accusations if you look at statistics, and yet society today will still favor women indiscriminately. Taking a look at our court systems, they will always lean towards the women's side in almost every situation regardless. This has become an issue for men in recent times as there aren't that many organizations/movements that fight for men in comparison.

However, that level of condescension that makes many of these commentators uncomfortable and feeling their own version of “fury” makes her point for her too. While I agree with a lot of her message and stand with women of all generations and ethnicity I cannot and will not say men are 100% responsible to change behaviours and stereotypical thoughts- Nor will I teach my son that women have a fury against men. As a mother, I have to take a responsibility to teach my son how to treat all people respectfully... which means teaching him manners, to be polite, open and learn of all cultures, religions, and their traditions.. to respect humankind and Mother Earth. I think the example she used was well chosen. I highly doubt a man would move over another man the way the man moved her friend at the post office. It was a gentle, soft yet significant example in the difference of how men's and women's bodies are treated and respected in general (not every case). I don't understand why people are being so harsh in their comments. It makes no sense to me. Punxatowny i don’t agree with her making this into something that only men do, but I don’t think it’s okay to move someone if they are blocking you. I think it’s best to say, “Excuse me” and if they don’t move you can just intrude and get what you need, but I wouldn’t move someone else. I included economic status in the comparison because there are some upper-class people of color who can avoid a lot of racism, but now that I'm thinking about it, I'm sure even they can't escape it. You are basically saying that empathy, putting yourself in other peoples shoes, is impossible. Thankfully for everyone you are mistaken. Saying a black person cannot know certain things just because of there race, is racist. The same is true of all other groups it is racist to say a white person cannot know something because of the color of there skin. Your creating divisions in society that do not exist, we should be uniting each other and not dividing each other and asserting that we can never be undivided. Ross is not advocating for change, she is complaining about nothing and demanding that other people change in ways that she does not specify. You can't just demand people fix the problem you have to actually come up with an idea that address the issues, she failed to do that in this video.
