Gen 2 chinese frames are still a great deal. Gen 3 frames are starting to approach 'mainstream brands' in price, making them less of a 'deal.'

@@BARTHEZ42 No brand is immune to quality issues though. Plenty of high-profile failures and recalls in recent years. I deal with poor manufacturing and poor build quality every week across all brands and price points. Why not pay as much for a Chinese frame when it's being made by the same experienced people, in the same factories with the same QC processes, branded by a real companies and sold by a real dealer with a real warranty? In the case of Winspace they've even got a World Tour team. Consumer choice is a great thing and if someone wants to spend £5K on a frame then that's fine, but I do think there's an unreasonable amount of suspicion and criticism aimed towards Chinese brands. (Similar to Korean consumer electronics and automotive 30 years ago, and look where that is now.)

GCN is great, I think they get way too much hate. Especially the videos Dan's putting out about health, Simon's cycling as a transportation advocacy, Connor's performance experiments, hanks wild challenges and Alex and Oli nerding out about marginal gains and latest tech. Alex and Oli I think are very unbiased when they talk about tech too and usually evidence based or they discuss both sides. They offer great content and those who call them shills don't understand business.

When I visited L-Twoo's older HQ in Zhuhai in March ~ 2023 they posted a sign that they were looking to hire people to assemble their groupset. 3000 RMB/month salary. A handful of their engineers that I met in person were from Russia.

Probably going to order a bigrock frame, will have a checkup with a bike fitter and I hope the geo suites me. I'm currently running an endurance frame, so it will be a more aggressive position. Glad to hear that the qc is good.

I feel like on traditional-design frames like the big rock, a few spacers under the stem doesnt look so bad. (Compared to aero bikes.)

From listening to you guys i built a high end full suspension mountain bike at 23 lbs. Took me over 6 months to piece it together! The frame i got looks 90% the same as Trek. Like they made in the same place. Carbon fiber the same? I own 2 frames and i can compare them to my high end bike. Climbing plus 40 mph front end feels the same! BB on the high end road bike is slightly stiffer so for the average cyclist there's no difference. Saving over 1/2 the money!

I have some og-evkin parts and have mixed results. Out of 3 or 4 stems all have stripped (while using torque wrenches with proper settings). I ordered some parts and got something else instead and they never sent the proper part. After that i decided it`s not worth giving them any money.

A crazy price for this groupset which includes crankset and cassette unlike LTWOO eRX groups which themselves are down to £340 before tax - £408 with UK tax. So an extra £441 which for many people who already have cranks and cassettes makes an affordable upgrade. That's the market. But as mentioned above if you have the money then the 105 Di2 is a no-brainer.
