Wow, her journal entry one month before she died was truly touching and it was like she felt a premonition. I got goosebumps as the detective read those powerful words. Her spirit would never be shut down and her voice would be heard throught that DNA sample even decades after her violent and premature death. Justice was finally made. She was right. The spirit prevails.

How did he gave *probation* for *rape*? Were times really that different in the 80s? Did he have the world's best lawyer?
@Mataylor1713 сағат бұрын
Yes, times were much different. No dna. No rape kits. No sex registry. Rape and beating women wasn’t quite the big deal back then as it is now. It started changing in the 90s.

Yep, and a lot of the thinking was, “oh, she just regretted it so she’s accusing him to make herself feel less guilty.” Men AND women believed that. And if a girl was SAed, she probably did something to deserve it or she lead him on. I had a friend who was assaulted in the early 80s, she told me she was walking home from high school basketball practice, in a baggy sweatsuit, no makeup, hair messy, covered in sweat. As she passed an alley, a guy grabbed her by her hair and yanked her off the sidewalk, she didn’t even know he was there. She was still grilled by the police, accused of provoking him in some way.

her student showing up, her best friend (his ex) showing up, being worried her sister would hate her, her sister naming her daughter for her.. this woman was so loved 😢💔 The handcuffs being used was just the justice she deserved.

Greetings from France. A close friend was s*xually assaulted last night. She's not doing well. The scumbag (a co-worker) was immediately fired but not arrested. He was sent back home with a "restraining order" until the case goes on trial in December. I'm afraid for my friend's life and will NEVER understand such leniency

People always assume " having children " is every woman's ultimate goal in life. It's not . Some ? Sure. All ? Nope

How is this relevant to the story?
@theinitialscc192422 сағат бұрын
@Marlaina it's not. but watching it, I couldn't help but wonder....if she had never been attacked and was a gay woman...would these same folks have loved and accepted her? Or if she married a man of another race, or religion, would they have strained relations today? people are so unloving on micro and macro levels.

I get what you mean! Not everyone wants children or marriage. Many people live fruitful lives without either one or both. SMH 🤦🏽♀️ she might would have went on to have no children - or just got married. Idk I think this society think if you don’t have one or both of those- you’re not normal.

This man is the worst kind of criminal. He preyed on the trust of innocent women and then when they let their guard down, he ambushed them and raped them. I hate that he lived a whole life while he stole a piece (or in Catherine's case, entirely) of their lives. Just tragic.

As a former teacher who was able to carry on friendships with my elementary students and I get to see them get married, have their own families, be successful in life this case resonates with me. Her students loved her even to this day and she never got to see them succeed. She never got to see them grow up. And in turn they never got the chance to continue that friendship that was so valuable to them. 😫
