💥 I helped a friend remove some bushes because she heard I had a backhoe. After an hour of set up I pulled them by hand because they were so small. Since then I ask for pictures or video. 🤪 *Keep on tractoring!* 👍

This is a great video Brock - especially for folks like me thinking about starting a side hustle (JD 2025 R)! Thank you so much having the humility to admit you underestimated the time. To try and avoid this and learn from you, I've put 3 hours of job prep time (1 hr to load and unload; 1 hr to drive round trip; and 1 hr to estimate the job) into my spreadsheet that I'll use to bid the work. At $71/hr, jobs are going to get expensive and I might price myself out of work.

Just a question, should you have called to see where the utilities are? Here in Illinois, they will mark it out for free where anything underground is like power or gas. That would be a bad day if they had to come out and fix something like a broken gas line. Just a thought for the future, thank you for the great videos.

Nice video Brock. I think this one will help homeowners looking to get these kinds of jobs done as much as it will the people thinking about taking on jobs like this with a small tractor. Since people are talking numbers in the comments, the FYI for what I would have charged would have been $150 for the bush removal (my minimum) and $150 for removing organic material (my standard charge for jobs within 30 minutes drive) for a total of $300. Every area is different, but people are always curious about what others would charge.

When i'm prepping for a job the next dayI always load the equipment the night before.It just means you can wake up,have coffee,machinery already loaded and you tend to forget less because less things on your mind while hurrying to load in the morning.As your quoting gets more accurate,you will find these flat rate jobs{I hope you flat rated it}pay more than hourly,by far.No job is ever to small when a customer is willing to pay.

Great Video. Job's start when you start prepping or at least that is what I have always held to and they dont end till your at home and unloaded! So technically you did not finish until you unloaded the tractor!! :P ...I felt a little cheated at not seeing the end result after clean up!! Solution for the baseball time crunch...get the kid into video games and the kid wont want to play baseball anymore and you wont be late for anything!! :P Looking forward to the next one!

I've heard if your exhaust faces forward you should block it off with a glove or something because the air coming in can spin your turbo and since it has no oil pumping it could cause damage. Thoughts?

That first move with the backhoe made me cringe. It came pretty close to the siding on the house. From there on, however, it was controlled and stress free. It's amazing how the average guy seems to always underestimate the time it will take to do a job. Every time I think I have time to do a job before another commitment, I'm wrong. Thank goodness that I'm retired and don't do work for other people! I'd be a miserable failure. But then again, I don't judge success by time. I judge it by seat time and the personal satisfaction I get from a good day's work. And, with forty acres, I don't think I'll be running out of projects any time soon. Great video! It made me miss my backhoe!

I would get some rams about a foot longer that way you would not hit the backhoe on the drive, or if you can fine a place were the ground is a little more leavel with trailer floor you can put the rams to it ,and back off without hitting .

I love your videos and I learn so much from them. Yes you seem to have a hard time to handle the heat. I have about the same shape as you. Loosing weight would help a lot. However this is easier said than done as I am in the same boat as you. But for having sporting a full beard like yours for many years, when I shaved it, this was like day and night. Hey compadre. I am looking to get a weigh safe hitch through your link. I have a tractor w/weight similar to yours and a bumper pull 18’ car hauler that I use. What hitch do you recommend and do you know an approximate cost for it? I will be getting an add a grapple soon too. Can’t make up my mind to forks or bucket. I bought one of the first pre production artillian fork set from Chris when he was getting Artillian started. He’s passed now and his wife sold to Curtis. Thanks.
@RockhillfarmYT2 жыл бұрын
As far as the WeighSafe page I think you’re just choosing between the amount of drop and the 2 inch or the 2 1/2 inch. I don’t think there’s very much price difference between them so if your truck has a 2 1/2 inch that is what I would get because it’s rated for more weight. I also got the maximum amount of drop just because you never know what you might need I was thinking of getting the addgrapple for my forks but the owner told me most people seem to prefer it on the bucket so I went with that Cool that you were in on Artillian so early. I did not know Chris but I’ve heard a story and I believe his wife is actually working with Artillian again now I appreciate that they’ve kept most of the original designs intact

I would have charged $650 because of the dump fees at landfill and distance to get to it. 4 hours of work plus dump fees yeah it seems high for some but I don’t dump on my own property. If they find someone cheaper and I don’t get the job I don’t worry about it I just move on.
