Tim your a smart man ! by getting all of those attachments for jonny you actually have saved money. because you have made the best use of your machine instead of buying multiple tractors. that jonny is one handy tractor it is small but it can fit into tight spaces and it's small enough to be able to transport on a trailer. I'm looking into buying a 1025r for mowing and other landscape projects but I now was one with a loader and backhoe.

Like others have stated, I use my pallet forks all the time. They're incredibly versatile. I can move large piles of brush by simply scooping like one would with a pitchfork. I've dug several big holes to plant trees. You can set the forks close together and just shove them down and then lift and curl out. A little shovel work after that will have a nice clean hole. A poke or two around a bush will make it pull right out with a chain. I've also used the forks to move large items. Most recently my 6x12 chicken coop. All I had to do was get the forks under one side, then a heavy ratchet strap from the fork frame to the far end of the coop. Lifted it off my trailer and set it right in place. I've also used the built in 2" receiver to maneuver trailers around the driveway. Can't say enough good things about my forks. If you've got a tractor and don't have forks, you're not doing it right!

@@AndrewMarsch I've got a mahindra 1526. Got my forks at palletforks.com. Mine are ssqa 42" forks. No tall guard so I could keep the weight down. Hasn't been a problem in the 3 years I've had them. I've really abused them and they're holding up. I paid a bit over $400 shipped to my driveway. Came on a pallet. Used the tractor bucket. Wasn't pretty, but got them on the ground. Could've used some forks! 🤪

Hey Tim, a tip that may or may not help you with sliding them forks, helped me anyways. Lower forks to a little below waist height, level them out or point the tips up a little so more weight is against the bottom track. As close to the track as you can get, Push it over with your hip or butt while smacking the top over with the palm of your hand. Do this little by little, too much over on bottom or top all @ once will bind it on the track. Paint doesn't help either. Sometimes lifting a fork a little helps also.

While in the Air Force I got to work with and operate both the regular forklifts and the Adverse terrain forklifts and knew how to operate them both correctly for lifting cargo which we loaded on aircraft. The tractors can do some of the work of a forklift, but it can't do all that a forklift can do. The forks which can be put on the tractors helps depending on the lift capacity of the tractor is and how high they can lift cargo. I worked with cargo loaders in the Air Force which could lift even more at one time than the forklift and we used certain ones to load cargo on all military and civilian cargo aircraft with no problem.

Lifting that entire work bench/shelf is an excellent reminder to build or buy one that can be moved with pallet forks. Sure beats unloading all the stuff, shove and drag the bench where you want it, then deal with putting all stuff back in it! Pick and go, set it and forget it. 👍

The thing about used fork lifts is they are a good solid investment. The resale value on them is great. Even better than tractors. Someone is always looking for one and if you are a savvy consumer, especially if you find a cash strapped seller, they will bring as much or more than what you have in them.

Would it be possible to build a lean-to style shed on one side of the storage building? If it is deep enough, with enclosed ends and has a concrete pad, it makes nice dry storage for 3pt implements like the bush-hog and when you need that piece of equipment you can just back up to it and go without moving other things around.

Pack it back in any where you could and now you wonder why you bothered. The pallet racks are great until you need that labor saving tool on the top rack. Well maybe I'll just flail at it by hand ( If it isn't ready at hand will you take the time for that 5 minute job that now turns into an hour ). I guess we all need Genie's bottle or a TARDIS. Do you have fork extensions? I find them handy when dealing with extra wide or hard to reach objects. When I was inspecting exotic metal sheets used in the aerospace industry I had to move 5' x 12' skids that weighed as much as 3k lbs. Here's a tip You can use the forks as a make shift crane. Instead of looping a chain or strap around the fork which could slip drill a hole near the end of the fork where you can install an eye bolt.

Great video as always, but I do have a question on your hydraulic thumb. I know it works off of the bucket curl/dump function and that you can close the valve to lock it in the storage position. My question is can you close the valve to lock it in place while it’s in a good convenient partially extended position as well? After hearing you talk about it in this video, I’m not sure that’s even necessary as you mention that fully opening it up basically resets it. Just curious if locking in a partial extended position is possible or in your opinion even necessary. I’ve become a big fan of your videos as I wait on my 2038R I ordered back in July to show up mid November. Unfortunately they don’t have a date for my 270B backhoe yet.

i wold pretty much rather a tractor like jonny 5 with forks than a fork lift... we have 3 forklifts on the farm one of em is big enough to lift the other 2 fork lifts.. we also have a 5420 with self living loader and a 5093E with a standard loader.. both have forks and even though they can't nearly lift like the fork lifts they can lift and go in the mud and other places the fork lifts just can't go.. now when we need to lift the tractors we usually use a fork lift on some hard packed dirt.. i guess everything has its place... I did once get the big fork lift stuck in the pasture before we got the loader for the tractor and the only thing that was home and big enough to get it out was the 9760 combine.. so i used it to pull out the fork lift and looked goofy pulling a little forklift with a giant combine... lol

geothermal working well now. Vent system working perfectly. The only problem now is that electricity is pretty expensive here ($0.11+/kwh) So I need to get some solar panels!

If your looking at going solar I highly recommend the rec solar alpha 380w I’ve just ordered my second array, but to get the best out of it if your in heavy snow area ground mount for easy clearing , but to get the best out of your system you need to add a battery as well , but your need to speak to the financial committee to off set the energy look at between 10kw-16kw array for ref my, original 5kw array generates about 23kw a day in summer but only 8-12kw in winter on average, don’t mix solar hour with power output all the time, a solar hour is peak output window

Also have a look to see if your state/energy provider does net metering

@@TractorTimewithTim I was just thinking of asking how the geo was doing. You won't regret it they are awesome. 11 years on our system and virtually no maintenance what so ever other than cleaning the air filter.

You have to be really careful moving a rotary cutter with the forks like that. If the form gets under the blade when you lift up it can do some serious damage. This happened to us and it bent the whole gearbox and shaft going from the gearbox to the blades. Had to replace a lot of things to make it work again
