"The concept of a 1025R was not even in their thought process until they started watching our videos" is true in my case. I began watching your videos about a year ago, and was amazed at the possibilities. I've been researching for the last year, and finally bought a new tractor that's arriving tomorrow. Even though it's orange, it was your channel that provided the inspiration.

dumb question, but does that ROPS fold completely down? it looks like the pins have another position but it looks like the folded top wouldn't be straight down. or does it not get secured when completely folded down? thanks
@TractorTimewithTim6 жыл бұрын
I'm not an expert yet. seems like two locked positions. the ~90 degree position is not locked in...the pin just sits on the brace...so it would bounce if the tractor hit a bump.

Having operated numerous JD tractors the only thing that will keep me from buying one is that they won't switch over to the universal quick attach on the loader which is so much nicer to use and also opens up so many more options for aftermarket attachments for the loader. I checked out courtneys web site and he does have some great deals and seems like a real good guy and I will say both my local JD dealerships could learn a lot from him about customer service.

Another great video. This should clear up all the questions😊. Glad you stayed with the 1025R, it is a great machine, (as are most of the sub-compacts). Amazing what you can do with one. I have a small property but a bunch of projects that include planting, moving heavy items and excavating. I did some calculations on how best to proceed. I started getting prices to have people do it for me, renting machines to do the projects myself and be rushed to limit rental or buy something and be able to work on things at my own pace. After doing the math it was cheaper for me to buy something to do the work myself and sell it when I was done, (to be honest- not likely to sell it, will just find more projects😁). This was the math I used for my finance committee to approve. People talk about cost on John Deere but I got my brand new 1025R TLB with the thumb, wheel weights and forks for under $20k. With the way these machines have held there value I found the overall cost of ownership is actually lower with a JD. Keep the videos coming!

There is an old logging trail going up the mountain behind my house. Lightning hit several trees and they fell across the road. The people that owned the mountain (I had permission to go up it) had a 4 series JD tractor but it was too large to remove the trees from that narrow road without tumbling down the mountain. The 1025r can easily maneuver on the road. I had removed the trees in less than two minutes. The owners were very pleased of what I was able to accomplish. This is a major advantage between the smaller 1025r vs the larger tractors.

I understand going for the newer 1025r. I went from a 2305 (which was great) to a 2018 1025r. nothing was wrong with the 2305, I just had the chance to update and did. the 1025r is great and maintenance is easier. I personally have had no mishaps with the new rops I'm 6'4" tall and clear it ok. In some cases it makes it easier to look up and see in close spaces. The only thing that has my attention on the 1025r is the constant position correction (jerking) of the 3 point. my dealer says its normal but i dont remember the 2305 doing it so much. Any input on that issue? Thanks for the great vids Christy and Tim!
@garrytalley80094 жыл бұрын
One thing in purchasing a tractor for some of those not purchasing yet is the weight factor. You need to have more weight for lots of things like lifting with the bucket, grapple or forks. Because a small tractor does a lot of things does not mean it will do all you expect it to do if it is too light. A mower deck option is not a reason to buy either because a stand alone riding mower is better.

Hey Tim, I enjoy your videos, and you've saved my bacon a couple of times with my 2015/2016 Johnny. I have a problem and want to know should I get rid of my Johnny? Someone (not me) spend an afternoon driving my 1025r around the neighborhood, using it more like a go cart than a tractor. Unfortunately, they did this while the parking brake was engaged. The result is now the parking brake does not hold when engaged, and I suspect the brakes are shot also. Although the pedal still seems to stop Johnny, I suspect it's the hydraulics slowing the tractor. I attached the front end loader and now drop the bucket when I'm on any incline to stabilize the tractor. Any ideas what damage may have been done?
@TractorTimewithTim2 жыл бұрын
Not a big deal at all, Allen. You can replace the brake fairly easily I think. I haven't done it, but I think it is relatively easy to do. Talk to your dealer. Do not get rid of your Johnny for such a minor issue.

I saw some recent videos with a ventrac. Was that a consideration for trading Jonny in on? If so why did you not get the ventrac?
@TractorTimewithTim6 жыл бұрын
We still have the Ventrac on loan from the company. You will see it in action come spring. Maybe before if we have more snow.

Tim Do you know if John Deere will give a new model change in 2020? If the finance comity can swing it hopefully in 2020. If you go into the #700 series same base price as the 1025R. That has a working 3pt hitch.

Are you going to be taking the side extensions off your new trailer. Because of Johnny's low lift hight

Video ideas Tim, I would like to see you talk more about the new scv lever. I thought I heard you say in another video that it was way easier to do two functions with it. My 2016 is touchy. 2nd, extend the backhoe all the way out and do a lift capacity video with it. I think the old 260 is rated for like 230# at full extension. I'd be curious to see the lifting capacity (if anything has changed) of the new 260B. Hope you guys have fun with new johnny, and keep the videos coming!

Interesting ideas. Thx. I do think the scv is a bit easier. Not much, but a bit.

I started out with a John Deere 2210 and it was alright tractor, but I had to go a step up and got a 4115 that I now own and have close to 1000 hours on it, it has done lots and plan on keeping it for a long time. Like the video.

Tractor Time with Tim I have been following you for sometime now. I have been really thinking of finally getting a little tractor - Thinking about the 1025R & 2025R - I see your reasons behind your choice. Question - I live up in Wisconsin, I get more snow than you do - If you were to use it for mainly snow & grading a long gravel driveway. What choice would you go with ? My driveway is about 300+ feet long and at the widest points are 35 feet wide. Then I would go do my parents drive. That one is good sized driveway as well. Your thoughts I would appreciate. Thanks!
@TractorTimewithTim4 жыл бұрын
My opinion only...others obviously differ. I would choose the 1025r, or 2032r. I see very little advantage to the 2025r.
@stenny19704 жыл бұрын
@@TractorTimewithTim I thought maybe because it was a heavier tractor
@TractorTimewithTim4 жыл бұрын
2025r: Worse turning radius, reduced stability due to higher seating position. Slightly better ride. $2000-$4000 more than 1025r. Not for me. ...but may be exactly what you or others want. That is why different models exist :-)

I just had the dealer do the 50 hour service on my Mahindra 2538 TLB. And I came home with my original 12” bucket bucket as well as a new 16”. I enjoying the digging. I know you will like the 2 seat method. When I’m working on digging a new trench my wife will sit in the front seat and when I’m ready to move she will drive forward. It saves a lot of time. I believe your new and previous Johnnys’ backhoe is hydraulic powered instead of PTO which like mine makes for quicker movement. I know the hydraulics leak by normal on most equipment. I would like to see a video on how you store your backhoe when not attached. I imagined someone designing a frame to rest it on so when you are ready to reconnect after sometime the backhoe is still in the same position and quick to line up to and attach. I believe your backhoe is a frame mount design as is mine. I see great new videos in the future. The instructional videos say on my tractor reconnect takes less than 10 min, I spend a solid hour or more trying to get all lined up and repositioned.
