Nice work in getting the rocks moved. Rocks give landscape character, Many of the erratics we have around here are just a bit large to be moving. Balance Rock near Omak is one. It's amazing, some of the rocks are transported hundreds of miles.
@m9ovich785 Жыл бұрын
Thanks Guys. You probably would have been able to pick up the bigger rocks by taking off the forks and slinging directly under the Loader frame. Just have to be conscious of them being closer to the Tractor... I had a 2" piece of Pink foam board on Mine.
@HomesteadingwithKevin Жыл бұрын
Just an idea on the larger rocks you could’ve used a tow strap around it an drug it over to the trailer then use the winch on the trailer to drag them up then dragged them off but really bobcat or luhll would’ve probably worked.

I'm in Massachusetts and move large rocks all the time, with a little trick. You can "roll" the rocks end over end to get across a yard. You might even be able to run it right up the ramp of your trailer. I moved a 2,000 lb rock 150 feet across part of my yard going end over end with a 2038r and my bucket.

That Poor little Tractor got tortured. The Loader bucket HAS to be "Tweeked". The good thing about the 1,2,&3 series ( for the most cases,E series especially ) they are EXTREMELY "light" on their ability to Lift anthing with the Loader.( it saves the Tractor & the user). I am AMAZED they can lift "anthing"... The JD lift cylinders are so "rinky-dinky" small. The John-Deere's are the nicest looking Tractors out there. Remember: Easy does it. Sometimes ya just "NEED a Bigger Tractor".

I have loaded pallets of cut logs (about 16" length pieces by as much as 30" dia with four to six pieces on a pallet depending on the size of the pallet for splitting firewood) and could only get them up about a foot with my 2018 JD2025r gen2. So, I have my daughter lift up on the front of the pallet and it works to get it high enough to pull up next to the splitter. Then we only have to roll the cut logs onto the splitter and have at it. I’m on 5 acres and I want MORE rock! 🪨 I’m a Landscaper / Hardscaper / Aquascaper / Designer & Installer by Trade. . . But I also do the “Small Farming” / Homesteading thing, PERMACULTURE, as well as LANDSCAPING / BEAUTIFYING the property! I can always enhance it! I wanna landscape it out and have it functional with the permaculture ALWAYS in mind! I’m mixing it ALLLLL into ONE ☝🏽 on my property! Whats a little more weedeating if it LOOKS better!? Or serves a better practical purpose!?? Like rocks stopping people from being able to “accidentally” back into your beautiful GRASS! “Created Natural Areas”. . . Accent Features, Etc. I’m one of those “STAY OFF MY GRASS” 🪧 typa guys, and only 34 yo! But it adds LOTS of CHARACTER to your lawn / landscape! Sounds to me, and please don’t get offended it’s just my observation & YOU’LL know the truth about yourself deep down inside; that you’re a little lazy and don’t TRULY enjoy THE WHOLE PACKAGE of getting out there! You just wanna cut grass and go inside it seems. You WANT it to go “smoothly” but MY FRIEND, THAT’S JUST NOT HOW LIFE IS! Learn to ADAPT and work WITH nature and not against it, basically work what you got and work around things and incorporate it into your plan or design. I LOVE being in my yard doing another project! I wish I could just take off work for about 2-3 years and focus STRICTLY on building my property to what I’ve always dreamt it to be! (It was my childhood home, inherited by me from my Father) 🙏🏽 RIP 🪦 And gonna bring my Dad back here to be buried once I get the County Approval. GIVE ME MORE ROCKS!!!!! I can ALWAYS find another project involving rock, gravel, boulders, sand, soil, dirt, etc. I hate how EXPENSIVE they’ve become trying to buy it even at a discount “landscapers price”. . . They charge an arm and leg these days for NATURE / NATURAL MATERIALS that they’ve likely “stolen off the land” anyways. I’m looking at doing about a 25’ - 30’ x 20’ - 25’ Water Feature in next couple - few months and looking for some nice “clean” rock as we speak! 😅 Everyone’s purpose is different! But if your dream is to have yours completely flat then DO IT!!!!! It’s you spending your life in that yard so do whatever it is that makes YOU comfortable / satisfied / feeling @ home / etc. I want LARGE PATCHES of grass but don’t want my entire 5 acres grass either! I love my trees! Even now looking back at it wish I didn’t cut AS MANY trees down! My Dad would always get on me about “cutting my (meaning his) trees down” 😅 He didn’t want me cutting any and I was going through there cutting out all the bad stuff! Pines, Poplars, & Sweet Gums.

I can't believe that you, as the professional that you are, went out to a job like that without a weight bucket. I need the weight bucket for any serious lifting with my 32 HP compact JD 4310.

People like rocks because they are unique and not found everywhere. I believe they can be costly to buy. I was wondering how you were going to get them off the trailer as you didn’t have the ground to dig into to get underneath them. I would’ve thought you would’ve set them on pallets on the trailer.
