Glad to see the guard cat is on duty and checking in the new recruits. I am waiting to see how long it stays with them, funny if it stayed after they are grown .

I'm raising 3 Holstein Angus X stears this year along with one of my own Jerseys that should be here in Apri. Just waiting for all the Ladies to drop their babies at the Diary farm I work at. However I get the little guys for free after 5 days if moms costume. Calf priced are so low in our neck of the woods it cost the dairy farmer money to ship to the auction. Enough meat for my family and a few CSA members.

The kitten seems to like to be around you and the bottles calves. I would think with their size the kitten would be scared of them. Hope all your hard work pays off this year.

Six for one isn't so bad, think about when it comes to sell what you don't keep, hopefully the prices will be in your favor. They are really nice looking babies they should grow fast. I enjoy watching your videos and seeing a very hard working young man make a living for himself. What about a video of you singing to the baby's ....you have a great voice.

Exactly. I drive by field after field with no shade and the temperature is 100 degrees or more, sometimes 108 or 110. What are these livestock ranchers thinking? So sad and inhumane.

How old are the calves you got and how many times a day are you supposed to feed a 2 to 3 week old calf
@FarmandHammer
@FarmandHammer 4 жыл бұрын
The calves I got in this video were about 5 days old. You need to feed them milk every 12 hours for at least 6 weeks or later. You can take them off of milk once they are eating a few pounds of calf starter a day.

So are you going to add the 10 heifers to your herd? Are you gunna make those bulls steers or grow them as herd bulls?
@FarmandHammer
@FarmandHammer 4 жыл бұрын
I may keep the heifers as cows but I’ll wait to see how they grow. All of the bull calves will turn into steers.

There do you get less money for saying like 900lbs steere than a 700lbs? because down here in south mexico, i get less for a bigger steer and the bets profit comes from a 700lbs one, just courious; My cattle just gave me females too lol
@FarmandHammer
@FarmandHammer 4 жыл бұрын
Yes around here once a calf gets past about 800lbs they bring much less per lb but can still be more profitable sometimes if you have the grass. But it’s mostly the same here!

I’ve known about Greg Judy for years. He is pretty well known here in Missouri. He has a completely different operation. He is running cow calf pairs. Since I do not have the money yet to buy a bunch of beef cows, I am using bottle calves to grow. Then one day I’ll get into cow calf pairs again. These bottle calves will spend the next year on pasture as soon as they are weaned. Thanks for watching!

:( why the hell are you a beef cow farmer im a dairyfarmer and i dont kill cows crul man
@FarmandHammer
@FarmandHammer 4 жыл бұрын
If you are a dairy farmer, you will know that the dairy cows calf (if a bull) will go into the food system eventually. Same goes with all dairy cows. As soon as they are too old or don’t breed, they are sent off to the sale barn. From there they will normally go straight to the kill floor. All cows will eventually go into the food system unless they die unexpectedly. It’s part of farming.
