@@davidjackson2690 Yep. If you've ever tripped you know the deal. It's like your pupils dilate out of your eyeballs, eye sockets, then out of your face, then melt down your face into the heat waves of neon cartoon colored landscape waving to the sounds of Pink Floyd you're listening to and become one cycle of many cycles of an alternate reality that is part of another surreal alternate universe that pulsates in and out of this universe that is trapped inside your brain but moving in and out of the existential reality of thousands of mutlicolored waves of thoughts, both spoken and yet unspoken. Yeah, that about sums it up...

Mine too. 64 now, and never heard it til 10 years ago. I wrongly assumed that Steve Winwood was 80’s radio pop. It sent me into a music seeking spiral. What other masterpiece had I missed in my youth. It was good to know that I hadn’t missed many. Sadly tho, this was one of them. I listened to it everyday for a year and still do on a regular weekly basis. Sometimes more.

My goodness, I am 61 years old and started getting really interested in music around the end of the 1960's. I have been lamenting the drivel that is popular nowadays. This track by Traffic is is good, very, very good. Traffic wasn't on my music radar back then, but it certainly is now. Now I am looking up all their stuff. To be fair to modern artists, I have worked (sometimes hard) to find and listen to (particularly) 'Indie' stuff that doesn't, and probably will never get, widespread release or 'push' and some of it is absolutely terrific too. Good stuff does exist nowadays, but you might have to work hard to find it and also be a little lucky in finding it. I am grateful that important musical work like this lives on. Thank you Traffic and thank you youtube.

Music at it’s finest! I’ve listened to music all my life and love many performers and bands. I can’t think of any that are more moving , provocative, or talented than these guys. Love bands from the Stones to Tame Impala and beyond. But, these guys were phenomenal and mostly unappreciated. I am so glad they are still be presented to the world. Enjoy!

It is super song performed by very talented musicians, giants of rock scene. I can't agree the band was underrated, as wrote one of us. The then, in 70th, "Traffic" was one of the best group, very loved & listened ... Their first LP was narcotic, "departure", fantastic!!!

Some passages in my life, I knew how special they were while they were still happening. Whole series of once-in-a-lifetime experiences. They felt like they'd go on forever. We weren't really sure. The Age of Aquarius didn't always behave like you expected it to

They say the eyes are the windows to your sole. Just look into his eyes! Simply amazing. I love the 60’s and am glad I was around to enjoy it. I went to many concerts in Boston daring the late 60s. There was a long building just off landsdown street near Fenway Park. Man do I miss those days. An era that never will come again. Kind of sad. I did not know how good I had it. 😎

Funny story: my parents went to see the Rolling Stones at Boston Square Garden in 1972. They went with a friend who was a psychiatrist and they were all tripping on pharmaceutical grade LSD he had for his patients. Not long after arriving they got split up - my mom spotted the psychiatrist friend (he had bought the jacket and concessions tray from a vendor and was walking around selling food and drinks). My mom looked up into the stands and there is my dad waving at her - she said she just stood there transfixed staring at him when a Frisbee hit her square between the eyes. 😂 She enjoyed telling that story over the years. I hear they had a blast.

Music just seemed so much more livelier back then. It wasn't about all the pyrotechnics, techno light, gimmickry and commercialism, it was just a band playing great music.

Jay Tee Bee so pink Floyd was a gimmick band?
@billd.iniowa22637 жыл бұрын
That was what I was gonna mention. The Floyd light show was an integral part of their concerts, going WAY back to their experimental music days at Cambridge?? college. They began playing to light shows, practically. So no, the lights and effects were not a gimmick thing, but rather a central core of the show. Even their sets were timed to go with the show. So thats why they didnt deviate with long guitar solos and 20 minute improv jams.

I am absolutely blown away by Winwood’s guitar playing. Always thought of him as a keyboard/vocalist. His virtuoso style seen here easily rivals the kind of stuff Mick Taylor was doing with the stones in the early 70’s.
